Did OPR accidentally announce its next faction?
Thanks for the video.
Wow!
I forgot about the survey 😅, but I’ve been enjoying Warfleets. It’s simple but each faction’s special rules feel actually unique compared to GDF
Miniatures Agnostic man, you decide what is what, official and approved stuff is for predatory companies like GW.
@@riggermortisfpv526 that’s true if opr required it. One of the points I was trying to make was that companies that are official partners are not participating as much as lesser recognized companies. Also, some places are running competitive tournaments and will not recognize lists from other companies, even if those lists are an improvement. I recognize you can’t have a zillion lists, it would be nice to know that if you have models that do not match the official list (dragon trappers lists for instance) you will still be able to play. Opr should expand their “official lists” to include these companies rather than just make them easier to find.
OPR competitive tournaments, LOL. I mean ok, you'd never catch me at one, but their tourney their rules I guess. But outside of that single issue is it really that important ? According to the Data collected by OPR an overwhelming number of us play at home anyways. It's a curiosity for certain, but idgaf about official anything tbh, Im tired of that played out idea.
All these creators are model creators first right? I imagine if it doesn't draw easily tracked sales it's less of a priority
That would be from the point of view of the creator. I am looking at it from the point of view of the consumer. If I want to play OPR what would be the model companies out there that already have army lists to make it easier and more official.
Of all OPR's armies, Dwarven Guilds where the most 'meh' style wise for me. Even being a patron supporter I used Tablehammer's, Hardcore Miniatures, and Forged in Fury's for my dwarves.
Dwarves will always get a special place in my heart because they came out just after I started subscribing to Opr. I only had a cheap fdm printer and they came out better and more paintable, playable than my other models (human empire and alien hives).
Warfleets grew but damn thats a tiny response group
They just need some new ship designs to get that going.
Yes more ships and fdm friendly supports too.
Haven’t watched this yet, but it is an interesting premise. Will be interesting to see how the Robot Legions perform, now that their main limiting factor (Movement) has been negated due to the low gravity. Cheers,
So excited! Putting together a battle now!

Creating flank and rear charges are the challenge of this type of game. Yes, you can just charge headlong into your opponent, and trust your numbers, and stats, will win the combat. That said, being able to create consistent flank and rear charges is a skill, that wargamers need to learn, to win games. Initial positioning can be a huge help. Greater manoeuvrability, also. The way the revised rules are written, it is virtually impossible to charge an opponent outside of the arc you are facing them in. This is down to the single pivot, up to 90 degrees, and the pivot being made around the CENTRE of the model. You do not pivot from a corner, but rotate around the centre. This being the case, it is almost impossible to make a successful charge into an arc you are not facing, as you will hit this arc, before you can connect with any other arc.* So, back to outmanoeuvring your opponent… Cheers, * I know I have posted this on another video, but thought I should repost it here, as this is where it really belongs.
for me Regiments is one of the few misses by OPR - why would you make a rank and file regiments game them limit the unit sizes to numbers which are more suited to a skirmish game?
@@owenthomas5103 if you are talking about the 10/20 limit I am not sure but I feel like that is an age of fantasy limitation. It’s hard to get a rank bonus when you are limited to only 2 ranks. They should allow bigger units especially in higher points games. As for allowing only 5 models per rank, I am for this. I am frustrated with Warhammer allowing any frontage creating advantages against unsuspecting players. I don’t know if that continued in old world but I think it did.
Banner is for morale checks. It doesn't allow you to hit better.
@@blazegraves did I say that?
@@alphanerdgames9417 I think at the very beginning when you are introducing both armies, you say they give the members of the unit 1 better to hit.
@@blazegravesah yes. I thought he was talking about the wood elves. High elves leader has high prowess which gives him and the unit +1 to hit.
I like the sound of this change it definitely makes movement more tactically interesting. And it's simple enough that i think other rank and flank games could potentially benefit from something like this.
[Edit] I figured it out. The rules for charging state that you move (up to your maximum move distance for your model), and may pivot once, up to 90 degrees, at any point. You pivot around the centre of your models, as opposed to pivoting from one corner. This makes it impossible to charge something in an arc other than the one you start in, unless the enemy unit is exactly in the middle of two arcs. The determine factor is the pivot coming from the centre of your unit, rather than a corner. When you only get a single pivot, and the pivot is from the centre of the unit, you cannot reach a different arc without connecting with the arc you are already facing. So, front goes into front, flank into flank, etc. The written explanation doesn’t do the idea justice - set up a few units, and you will see what I mean. Cheers, I don’t have the rules here, but I have a simple solution: if you begin in a unit’s front arc, you may charge in front. If you begin in the flank, you can charge the flank, and if you begin in the rear, you may charge the rear. If it’s 50/50, choose. If the way is blocked by another unit, you may not charge. Yes, this is a holdover for me from other systems, and I know you don’t have to charge in a straight line in OPR. However, in the heat of battle, the most direct route is usually the best route. Cheers,
When you say 'old' and 'new' rules, what documents are you referencing? Which version is the new one you're referring to?
@@sjhhej I started with version 2
@@alphanerdgames9417 OK. But which version are you talking about in your video that 'fixed regiments'?
@@sjhhej 3.4.1
Note that if possible, units must always charge and align with their target in the facing where the majority of their front row models are when the charge is first declared. Page 10. IMO, Some of the flank moves you show would not be possible.
I thought for sure this was the case as well, but in downloading and reading the document, it doesn't appear to be. As long as any part of the target can be seen in the charging unit's front 45 deg, the charger can charge whatever side they want, if they have the movement for it. I'm surprised that's the case frankly.
correct, the flank 90° charge is an illegal move
@@raptorjesues1445 as mentioned in my above reply, in reading the most recent rules, I dont think that true. the new rules dont seem to disallow it.
Didn't fix anything and doesn't allow real tactics. Sigh.
@@AndrewS-fe8ng it now allows charges around units that would have blocked them before. I’ll put out a video doing a better job of explaining this. You don’t think this was an improvement?
Hi there, I was just curious what "real tactics" you were hoping for in a rank-and-flank style came like this? Game designer brain wants to know for his own writings here :p

I agree with your ideas on GW's new business model. I think they're making most of their money through licensing their IP. But that's not a sound strategy over the long run. There are plenty of game stores like the one that I go to that run non-GW sanctioned events who don't care what models they bring. I bet they would be willing to carry OPR products right next to GW stuff.
@@MentalSurvival the thing about the corporate world is the decision makers don’t last long in one spot so they look short term.

Im just putting together some rando cheap prints from europe. Going to be my first HDF strike team.
Hey bud :) Take Aim doesn't stack. In fact, no ability with the same name ever stacks unless it explicitly says it can. Effects that do the same thing, but have different names, can stack. ie, you can use a Psy-Hacker with Foresight to get an additional +1, but not two take aims. This is true of all armies. Cheers!
@@Warjaming cool, never tried to stack before. I guess I won’t now. 🙃
@@alphanerdgames9417 Well, you still can, you just need to mix Forward Observers and Psy-Hackers to pull it off. Whether that's really a good idea or not perhaps is something to be tested someday. 👍

@@TableTopDateNight it’s not that the apc isn’t great, I just don’t see it being as useful as it is for dwarfs and high elves
I know that a lot of GW players are coming over to OPR. I just don't want OPR to become GW 2.0. I'm glad the rules are optional. But I came over to OPR to get away from GW and I don't want GW players influencing the game to much to match GW. I believe OPR are at their best when they do their own thing and not shadowing GW.
Liked and subbed!
Meh. Not real fantasy battles. Not your fault the game is crap.

I wish you could just make custom units individually and add them to official OPR armies. Like my Necron C'tan Nightbringer, I want to make a unit specifically for him but you can't.
