Just a one-year update the Jeep Compass is still going strong with no issues at all. It gets used every day. For anybody in the Oakanagan area the place that serviced the transmission is Dynamic Transmission in West Kelowna, BC. All you need to do is get the transmission properly serviced/flushed. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Especially don't let Chrysler tell you that you need a new one.

So we fixed the problem a little while ago, so I thought i should post what happened. We use to get our transmission oil changed a Great Canadian. They would just draw the oil out and put new stuff in, but they didn't pull the pan, change the filter or properly flushed the tranny. We decided to get a comprehensive service from a local transmission specialist. They dropped the pan, pulled the oil filter, cleaned an internal metal filter/screen and thoroughly flushed the transmission. They put everything back together and its like a new vehicle. The old transmission oil filter was black and super clogged. Obviously a factor to the transmissions performance. Fortunately they didn't see any metal shavings, but who know what damage had been done? More time will tell I guess. Unfortunately the service Great Canadian was doing wasn't enough, but that is not their fault. They do excellent work with our standard oil changes. This was our fault for not getting a comprehensive service. This serviced costs about $100 cnd more than the service from Great Canadian, but obviously it was worth it. If you have noise issues like we did, I suggest you get a complete service (new filter, clean internal screens, fluid flush, etc). We were getting our oil changed regularly, but that wasn't enough. Still the same noise. Chrysler said they don't have a solution. Fortunately nothing has blow up yet. Have been using the Jeep steady and am near 200,000K. Seems to make the noise on hot summer days compared to cold winter days.

So I took it to the Jeep dealer here in Kelowna, BC and they said that the only thing that could be done was to change out the transmission. They said the transmission is not repairable. Maybe I should try get a hold of someone at Jeep and not through a dealer? I should show them this video. I also noticed that this occurance happens less often when the temperature is cooler. In winter it rarely happens and supper it happens very often.

Any clue as to what the issue is?? I am having the same problem
