Woodturning - Bleached Vase
I made a simple vase from Beech.
I tried a new process Bleaching with Caustic Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide. I did this 3 times (off camera) which didn't really work as much as I wanted.... I'm not entirely sure why.
Shown at the end with some other pieces I've made.

#Woodturning #Woodart #4k #MakersGonnaMake A simple natural edge Laburnum bowl. This was turned green and dried in the microwave; finished with danish oil. The 1st attempt I messed up and went too thin, so the piece cracked when sanding. I also let this dry naturally (in a warm shed!) so it warped into a bit of a shell shape and then cracked a bit more. I tried this again, but dried it in the m...

Still, i hope you enjoy, please comment either way...

      Hi Ken. the brand is Axminister it came with my lathe, i think it's a cone/spur drive that you can remove the cone on to use as a ring center.

    Question: I’m new to using a epoxy resin. Put 2 pine cones in a dried water bottle, put in pressure pot. Tried to turn into the handle for pizza cutter. Seems very flexible and has a ton of cracks. Fill in cracks only to have more appear. How long should I leave in pressure pot? What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

    • @johnsherlock1920
      @johnsherlock1920 2 роки тому

      Hi Leo, I'm not sure. It shouldnt be flexible at all, though so hasn't set. Could be a few things. We're the cones properly dry? Did you mix the resin thoroughly , the brand I used you have to stir for a few minutes. It normally tells you the hardening time but the stuff I used I always leave 24 hours. If closer to slow-set resim , then could be a few days curing time . Hope it works out 👍🏻
