I teach music at West Humber CI in Toronto, University of Toronto, and also teach private lessons near Toronto. These are some videos that may be useful for some of my students for educational purposes, or they are performances of various ensembles and musicians that I teach.

This is a performance of the University of Toronto Steel Pan Ensemble playing "Ashley" by Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, and arranged by Liam Teague. This new simple pattern for the Sea Cadet Beginner Drumline is called "Marine" because the rhythm is similar to the "We Want You" Marine commercial from many years ago. Practice your rudiments every day, slowly, thoughtfully, and with a metronome!

Here is the new pattern that we came up with this eve. For now it will be called "Four" simply because it starts with four eighth notes. Keep practicing those singles, doubles, flams and the other rudiments. Use a metronome.

Here are some basic warm-up and daily practice ideas to do when you start to play rudimental drumming with our Sea Cadet Corps. Pause the video when you practice and do each for at least 2-5 minutes. Go for it!

PT 2 1 Singles Play Along Exercise (Joe Cullen)

This play-along video was made to help you with getting your singles faster, playing with a metronome at various tempos, and has a few reminders about proper stick grip, stick height and following a metronome. This is a play-along video for beginner and intermediate drummers who want to improve singles. Tempos range from 100bpm to 120, 140, 160, 180 and finally 200bpm. Go for it!

Just getting this out of my system! I LOVE drumming to this raunchy tune by Aerosmith! I didn't make any effort to copy the recorded drum fills for this one and had a great time playing WAY TOO LOUD for the whole song. This is not recommended.....but..... I don't care about that right now. Life can be short. Eat grapes and cherries and peaches, exercise every day, and GO FOR IT! This is for fun...
