1. Open Registry Editor. 2. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\. 3. Right-click on the shell folder, select New > Key, and name the new key (e.g., "test"). 4. Right-click on the new key (e.g., "test"), click on Default (at right side), and set the value to "Open with VS Code". 5. Right-click on the empty space on the right side (below 'default), select New > String Value, and name it "Icon". 6. Double-click on the "Icon" entry and set its value to the path of your VS Code executable, such as: "C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Local\Programs\Microsoft VS Code\Code.exe" 7. Right-click on the key created in step 3 (e.g., "test"), select New > Key, and name this new key "command". 8. Set the default value of the "command" key to: "C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Local\Programs\Microsoft VS Code\Code.exe" "%V" These steps will add an "Open with VS Code" option to the right-click context menu in the background of any directory.

Microsoft did say windows 10 was going to be the last version (they tell lies). Windows 10 works ok. Windows 11, most people would not use any of the new features, & (the main feature is having a lighter bank balance). The old hardware what a waste of time & effort of world resources, just to scrap it? Cannot see the point in having Windows 11. I am sticking with Windows 10, if windows 10 cannot or will not run (I will use a alternative). As for paying for (ESU)Extended Support Updates, why bother, run a free anti virus software, use non Microsoft browsers that still works. Windows 11 doesn't currently meet the minimum system requirements to run on my PC. I still have Windows 7 PC still working ok. Who wants Copilot & Rollcall (more spyware). I will point out: The End for Windows 11, has happened already, before Windows 10 has reached the End of October 2025. Not that many people want or need Windows 11, with it ridiculous requirements. Windows 11 is like Vista, no body really wanted it.
