You don’t see many people choosing Qeynos to start compared to Freeport. I always personally liked Qeynos and the Karanas.

Yeah, normally in the area with bandits closest to Qeynos hills, the Giants don't roam, at least I believe they don't. Towards the east of the zone they are definitely running around. I would be careful around Bandit Camp #3 on the east side of West Karana.

Only thing that sucks about being on west side of Antonica is needing a port to get to freep. Won't need it now though. So far MNK has been slow leveling

yup it has a social charm that you can't really get anywhere else. Theres a good 2-5k people still playing on Project 1999.

Yeah I know, but I actually enjoy this particular Kingsfield game, then trying King's Field IV. What feels like Dark Souls is the timing of attacks. Having fun so far grinding.

Dang sounds nice, I never played on a PoP server before, just Proj 1999 up to velious. Would be nice to go back to Kunark time period and level a shaman or bard.

Yeah I have more free time due to working at home and my children being older, finally can start committing time to making videos. 2014 being a "long time ago" gets to me as well, it is insane to me 5 years since the pandemic and I feel like that just happened. Time creeps up on you and next thing you know you are over 40 years old and half your life is gone.

Yeah soloing can get very boring. EQ was designed for group play so while it may take time to get a group going, it is great when it happens.

I wish I was around during the heyday of EQ in 1999 but unfortunately I could not afford a PC, just a WebTv with no game compatibility.

If you are willing to have delayed gratification, research using the P99 Wiki website, and get through to about level 16 this game will get it's hooks into you. I suggest starting out with a Magic class such as enchanter, Druid, Magician, or Necromancer as they have a "gate" spell at level 4 that works as a hearthstone does in WoW, and can save lots of time running around. Later on in the game you can bind the Gate spell to any location so you can teleport where ever you want. A Druid has more options with teleports to Druid rings around the world, and people will pay you money to teleport them to locations. Necromancers are the most powerful solo class in my opinion but are very complex, while fighter classes are much simpler but do not have gate or teleport spells. Ranger is a good class that is more of a fighter than Druid but isn't really powerful until later in the game.

p99 is rough starting out but that's part of the charm for me at least. Once you get to around level 15 or so and get the rhythm going it gets better, especially when you do groups of 2-4 people and camp mobs. That being said, you have to like grinding lol, it's a big part of the experience, but the feeling of getting higher levels is more rewarding than any other game imo.

I understand, this game is not for everyone. BTW there are plenty of quests, such as the Gnoll Fang quest and Blackburrow Stout brew quest which both give a lot of XP, it's just that you have to use the Project 1999 wiki to get the quests, or go up to the NPCs in town, press 'H' for hail, and they will talk to you. If they say anything in brackets, such as "I wish I had some [bat wings], that is a quest. You type back to them 'bat wings' and they will tell you how many they want. It's tedious and old school, but that is what I love about it, it does not hold your hand and like the real world, no NPC has a exclamation point over their head to show they are giving a quest. This game was designed for realism in the beginning, and not everyone wants that, so I totally understand your opinion.

It's much better than 95% of the other modern games that are available. You have no idea.

@@Turtle.69 I got into Daggerfall in 2017 and Project 1999 in 2020. It's not just nostalgia that makes the games enjoyable for me, it's the realism and challenge and needing to actually do research and think, its makes progress and rewards feel more worth rather than just giving it to you through a quest prompt like in later games.

@@dankbladedirk069 100%. Also a really fun thing about Classic Everquest is that it uses mechanics that simply aren't used anymore. Like, no level restriction on items. so you CAN juice your lowbie alt up and feel powerful. Or you CAN buy a temporary couple of items and then sell them later to another player when you progress beyond them. And killing guards in a city? That's so freaking cool man.

@@Turtle.69 That is true. The fact you can camp guards for EXP is something you'd never see now, also equipping your char with high level gear at low level, that's perfection haha.

@@blanchfor The DREAM presets are a part of a DREAM mod, when u download Dream, u already downloaded presets. U read the manual PDF or if u are at least a avarage skilled, u just merge the folders in to the game. Than u select the Convenient Clock mod ingame, click settings, presets and there u will see DREAM preset so u apply it and its done. If u ask where to get Convenient clock... at Nexus, same place where u get all other DFU mods.

I changed it to time/date instead of that visual clock, thanks! looks much better now.

I have not yet. I ran by a few villlages using tedious travel and they had people in them. About to start a fighter's guild questline to get reputation up and will see what happens.
