I wouldn't trust a Robinson helicopter after watching this video in the last one that crashed!
Google's your friend. There have been dozens of fatal R44 crashes.
Pilot error is the leading cause for these accidents though, just like the one in the video. Robinsons are strict on their operations, even requiring the 100 hour commercial maintenance inspections which other aircraft don't typically have. If you fly outside of the limitations, you're bound to run into issues.

Pilot error. Did not check the magnetos, would have surely caught them in the OFF position and would also have evidenced the probable grounding fault that made it possible for the engine to run with them OFF in the first place.
i mean in my opinion most if not all of the Robinson helicopters need to be gone by the statistics 1 person dies every 100,000 hours flown in a Robinson helicopter ( may be wrong on the statistic ) the Robinson main engine blade is made in a way that it bends and i think can tilt a bit too and if it goes to far it can cut the tail rotor off witch is prob what happened in this video 2 people recently died after that happened and they just dropped like a rock and crashed in a field they hit the ground at a pretty high speed, the Robinson helicopters are pretty common and need some better design so this stops happening.
I'm a fixed-wing pilot so don't know a lot about helicopters. Did that tail boom separate on impact or in flight? Is it even possible to make an emergency landing if you lose a tail boom in flight? I guess the only way that could happen is if the rotor struck & separated the boom, correct?
I think the rotor cut off the tail boom. If this was an engine failure that can happen if the pilot doesn’t react fast enough. I’m also a fixed wing, everything I know I read in comments or saw in training videos. Helicopters are interesting, a lot of insane physics going on.
I think you can see the damage to the main rotor where it hit the tail boom.
@@someonespadre Yes, I've learned that indeed the main rotor cut the tail boom off during impact with the ground. I've also heard man comments that this particular autorotation wasn't performed well, meaning the outcome could've been much better.
@@crooked-halo I see what you mean now…saw the piece of the tail boom lying near the wreck in one of the videos. Probably the rotor disk stayed in the same plane on impact and the tail kicked up when it nosed in.
