Dumont Dunes

A few short clips of my visit to Dumont Dunes. Unfortunatly my flag burnt off within half an hour so I decided to finish off the afternoon at Little Dunes down the road which i had to myself. Was worth the visit but I don't think riding dunes is my thing... Cool place though :)

My first visit to Baldy Mesa, what an incredible/intimidating place! Never seen such huge climbs. Notice the second time I attempt the main climb I hit a rock at speed which sends me off course! Awesome time

It sure is! Minus the last satellite I discovered which was copper city
I emeditaly noticed lol and I was trying Google Earth to see exactly where that pool thing is where that truck is sitting, I wanted to check it out
The truck has gone now I rode there in feb last and it vanished !
Hey mate, sad to see you dont ride the xr anymore :-( is she dead?
This looks like fun.
what gearing do you run and do you have any engine mods?
3:24 "slow" :D
nice
nice video bro
Good times! Come back and lets do it again!
Miss you, Jimmy!
SO LUSH!
Awesome riding dude .
Is that a te610 your riding with? sick vid man.
What is maximum speed on his bike on stock gearing ?
around 70mph
Awesome clips man! What year is that bike?
Hi mate, just wondering if you have to use the clutch to wheelie? My XR will power wheelie in 2nd but 2nd is so short it just runs out of puff before 30mph. I'm on standard gearing and have a full FMF powercore exhaust with powerbomb header. I'm a novice when it comes to wheeling and my XR400 is the first bike I've been trying it on. Cheers mate.
***** yep use clutch every time, safer + more control learn to shift
Are yoy riding a beta?

Have you ever had problems with heating?
no never its a very strong engine and it comes with an oil cooler
dude awesome vid!!! I am thinking about gettin a xr 400. Is the stock in this video? Keep up these vids man
*the bike stock
thanks man it was an insane trip i lost my XR in the same parts in the river a year later! Bone stock other then a k&n air filter
do you recommened the xr400? i want a reliable and cheap bike to maintain that can always get me from point A to be B
Alex Deffense its pretty much the best bike you can get for what you are saying you want
sm400xr so what happened to your xr after it got flooded?
hey sm400xr, love your videos, i have a quick xr400 wheelie video on my channel of you would like to check it out. Ben.
how long you been riding?
Love mine great bike pulls up any hill it's pointed at, keeps up with the mix pack I ride with no fear!
capo
no... No!!! NOOOO !! Stop the story man oh my god !!! thats crazy. I feel sorry for your bike and what ever might have happened to this girl lol but where are you riding, down rivers?? haha, it looks cool. and OH NO that man at the start fell in the mudy crap. that sucks. but are you seriously in a river or is it just flooded ?
I recently sold my 2002 CRF450R because it was hard to kick for me and needed work. I'm looking at a new bike and found a 98 xr400 for sale. How hard are they to kick, and to start? I've heard they are bullet proof, and being an old air cooled Japanese engine I believe it. I just don't want to buy something that's to hard for me to kick again.
hey man. Yes they are good bikes and are very cheap to run and take alot of abuse. Everyone is different in terms of kick starting an xr400, for me personally it is extremely easy, unless your stuck in a bog with mud over your boots etc. Alot of people say its difficult to start, there is a knack to it and once you no how it is very easy. I used to have a CRF and that was very easy to start, I would say your CRF450 will be easiar to start then an xr400. I use the decomp lever normally, to find TDC cheers
Thanks for the input!
Hello
So much enjoy comes from this video. Tank u made , A+ grade stuf. Greetings and Love from Latvia
thankyou man, i have a good friend from latvia, awesome people. check out my new vid XR400R
All sorted ?
sadly no my friend :( it sucks big time i am starting to twitch without riding since wales. I have got someone who will rebuild the engine and clean it etc new piston but the swingarm pivot bolt have seized - typical on xr's so i'm thinking of trying the candle wax idea: www.thumpertalk.com/topic/170479-seized-swing-arm-bolt/
sm400xr Never heard of that before ! Get it done and good luck with it!! Mine was and still is seized solid on the trusty XR
RIP SNORTING DIGGLER if only i never went in that river then none of it would have happened and my xr would still be solid! I am thinking of getting xr650 or crf450x but truely i want my xr4 back not happy
sm400xr Well happy with my 450X !! For the single track stuff we do its abit of a handful but out on open stretches shes a beast !! Feels like it has twice the poke of the XR400
What mods do you have on your xr?
bone stock other then barkbuster's
Amazing video!!! XRs vs force of nature
cheers mate, i was so gutted when i found out it wasn't filming, cause it didn't just take my bike away it took all of us to ! We ended up about a 1/3 of a mile down river. Was mental haahaa. Thanks for the message, It is due for a top end so maybe I will wait it out and do the same as your mate did. cheers mate. have seen the vid of your mate getting sucked away i love it, glad you all saved the bike
Love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not the flooding your bike bit obviously ! - Check your inbox.
yeah, i've ordered some cheap oil to put through it again, then put in some high quality, check the valves then hope for the best
Remember to drain all the oil!!! and do 3-4 oil changes in 100/150km. The water entered into the engine for sure...
