My 2 nd gen don’t stay at 190 drops constantly
Great tutorial!!
This is a good video. I have a 5.9 Cummins that unfortunately sat for 4 years due to a deer strike, but now working on getting her back on the road. I definitely want to change up the filtering system from the factory one by adding a CAT filter with water detection. I have to get my injectors rebuilt first but that's next in my plan. I hate the plastic cap that's tough to remove on it
Great video
Nice but instead of center punching each hole in the end those holes would be more accurately placed with a simple jig that is moved and indexed to each previous row of holes.
@@jimhowell4937 that’s what I should have done for sure. I could tell when I was punching and drilling them that they were not perfect. And I think I saw that Fireball Tool (?) is making a jig now for that exact thing.
Does it actually make the tires unsafe
@@wyh880 if you do it right and on the right kind of tires it’s fine. Tires that you can legally do this to for street use will say “regroovable” on the side. For these, they are used off-road only and low pressure and slow speeds so it’s fine. Haha.
Did you reseal it with evil bay cheap kit or genuine parts and what was outcome?
Thank you for this, its my next job. Greetings from wet and damp wales uk

Need some help with creating my own. Trying to do it for my rear on my TJ. Been reading forums, but no luck or help. Please sir🙏🏾. I wanna bring old school back. I'm kind new to the fabricating scene, but any help will do.
@@michaeltaitano3769 these were just built using the the rubicon express 1.5” YJ spring over springs with some stock YJ springs. I’ve built a few different sets using different types of leaf springs and these definitely worked the best. But it all depends on your build. Every build is going to be different depending on weight, position of the spring, length of the springs and so forth.
@@michaeltaitano3769 what are you looking for specifically? What does your build look like? A lot of guys would bolt the springs to the frame to mount them. Either using square up bolts or building some kind of brackets to bolt them on. I have done that in the past and it worked well. On this set I build a box that that held the springs w a bushing on the end. It worked but the boxes keep breaking so I would not recommend that.
I'm jus starting from scratch, stock TJ nothing done to it. Was thinking about what to run either coilovers or struts, but seems like everyone is running that set up,but I wanted to do something a lil different. Was inspired by some old school rigs and came across this style or set up. Simple ,cheap and look fairly simple to construct. I have no idea on how to go about doing it. I've tried looking for these springs, but I believe it's a discontinued product, sadly. Jus looking for some guidance and help 🙏🏾.
@SWALLDOG I'm pretty much just going to do the rear, with the quarter elliptic spring and just the lower links. I should be picking up a dana 60 off an E350 van full float and up front a dana 44 off and old Ford truck. Up front, I was just thinking of running maybe 14 or 16 inch fox 2.0 air shocks. I don't have much rock here where I live jus alot of muddy clay and gnarly ruts for flexing. Have a few rocky spots, but nothing killer.
@SWALLDOG I also have a set of jk axles on hand as well either or.
How deep can you go on a set of swampers and then be alright on road?
@@SQUARE_ATC on road I’m not sure. I’ve never been able to find a measurement on how deep you can legally regrove tires. I think it depends on the tires and local regulations but not sure. For off road like this I see people grove down to the cords all the time. That’s what I plan to do until these tires are totally warm out. Haha. 🤣
@@SWALLDOG alright, they would be the same exact tires, but probably not gonna end up getting them.
Did the standard way of bleeding the brakes not work? Or are you trying to do it one person?
yeah I tried the standard way at first but they just didn't seem like they were that good. thought maybe they still had air in them. so I tried a bunch of different ways and Im not sure it made that bid of a difference. I think that might just be the way these brakes are.

Thank you John for this nice video, I have bought the same table (the Pro version) and I am waiting the delivery of shipment to arrive here in France. I have the Milwaukee BS 125 (the band saw version commercialized in Europe).
You bet, glad you liked the vid! This table has been awesome! I hope you enjoy yours!!
Just bought a triple locked 93. I also have a 93 Land Rover defender. The 80 series Land Cruiser is in a completely different league. Might be the best 4x4 ever made off showroom floor to be honest
They definitely have some cool stuff from the factory! 👏🏻👏🏻
wow lots of work. they certainly are not a hidden gem - that would be the Montero.

Awesome! Thanks!! I hope it works out well for you!!
Heh i can totally guess where you live at, cause i watched all the way to the end! You live just down the road from diesel dave and dave sparks shop! Salt lake city UT! Ya you should do a video on the air ride! I wanna check that out! Good video! I got basically the same truck but mines a long bed. Mines a 6 speed HO with under 100k on it still. I did a fass 165 with the beans sump, but that was like 8 years ago heh when the sumps were just a single port, so I’m gunna swap it out for a dual port, and being that my return is already in the filler neck (thats how the kits used to be before the dual port sumps) and then what i was thinking was putting an aux fuel tank in the bed, like one of them cool tool box ones and then just having it use that 2nd port on the sump and literally just letting gravity do all of the work. Gravity feed it so its always full. And could have a simple on off valve if you want or off. easy peasey way to run the red stuff! Ahhh the smell of tax free diesel fuel in the morning!
Good eye! Yeah their shop is really close to my neighborhood. Sounds like a sweet truck!! Sometimes I wish mine was a long bed. That auxiliary tank sounds pretty cool. Yeah I’ve been meaning to do a video on the whole truck, air rid and everything. It’s on the list, hopefully sooner than later!
I just moved to grand junction colorado. Theres a shop here called 23 diesel, you ever heard anything on them? Ive been watching ‘The Diesel Podcast’ channel on utube for a few weeks now and they reference that diesel shop here in grand junction called that, in assuming its the same one... I just happened to stop in and check it out the other week and then i see something about it on youtube, so now im curious. Ill keep an eye out for another vid man! I really wanna see that air ride! I planned a lift for mine, gonna go long arm for sure, all ballistic fab ballistic hiem joints and steering. Ive really just been conservative on going to crazy on the truck till it had at-least 100k miles on it. Normally i wouldnt be scared to cut/ torch/ plasma, or heavily modify anything but this trucks just to cherry and mint. Everythings gotta be tastefully bullet proofed heh. I did just drill a hole in the roof for a cb antenna mount so…eek that was a little scary. No going back now!
@@Moose400ex oh that’s awesome! I’m pretty sure that shop is the same guy that used to be on the diesel forums , Competition Diesel and Cummins forum. I used to be on there a lot. If it is he’s a cool dude for sure. Knows what he’s doing especially on 2nd gen’s! Yeah I don’t blame ya on a truck that clean with that low miles. Hard to start tearing in to it!! Yeah I’ll get a vid up hopefully soon of the full truck!!
You're running an 66mm compressor inducer on the primary?
Yes, primary is a high tech turbo 66/71/13ss and the secondary is a 76/92/32cm. Little big on the primary side but that’s what I had put together at the time and ran it. I’ve actually got a modified HE351 that I want to swap it out for just haven’t had the time.
@@SWALLDOG oh wow, that's a big compound on a VP. Actually the secondary is the small turbo on the manifold and the primary is the one with the air filter so it is also called the atmosphere. They make them secondary and primary in order of compressor flow as opposed to exhaust flow. What kind of egt do you see at WOT? I've followed your truck for a long time on the forums. Do you have an HO or SO VP44? Ever had it dynoed for HP?
Sweet 2nd Gen you got there! What kind of stereo is that?
Thanks man!! It’s a Clarion VRX765VD that’s almost 20 years old. It’s the first thing I put on the truck when I bought it in 2005! Haha. I love the interface with my old IPod. Unfortunately it’s starting to have some problems. The screen get stuck sometimes going in or out. Might be time to upgrade. lol
How do you know how deep to SAFELY cut and not get into belts?
It’s kind of a guessing game really. But it also depends on what tires and on or off road. As far as I know if you are re grooving a DOT tire that will be on the road it has to be a re groovable tire and there is also a measurement on how deep you can go. For an off-road tire, me in this situation, I actually just cut it right down to the belts. You can’t see it in this video but in person in some of those cuts you can start to see the belts, like it just has a really thin layer of rubber on top of that makes sense. I figured it’s no big deal because these are off road only tires and I’m only running them at between 5 - 7 psi. Hope this helps!!
Can you do that to Mickey Thompson atz Baja tires
You can do it to any tire just depends on what you want to do and how deep you want to cut. There are restrictions on re grooving dot or tires you will use on the street and that depends on the tire and the laws. But for off-road you can do whatever.
So on my stock 01 Cummins both lines are right up top easy to reach? Water in the left one and it will flush out the right one?
Yeah they are on top and not to bad to get to. Just un hook them from the engine and flush out the core. I hooked it up that way because it was opposite the way the coolant flows through the core to try and get the stuff loose. But you could do both. Do it one way for a little bit and then switch. Do that a few times to really get a good flush. 🤷🏼🤷🏼
Great video thanks
Oh thanks!!
Should be checked at running temperatures
You look very familiar; Sommers closed a LONG time ago now. Pick-n-Pull next door, pull-n-save out near Magna & the Tear-A-Part Redwood Road are really all that's left & they mostly just have new inventory 2005+ it seems these days.
Oh thanks. I’ve been doing 4 wheel drive stuff in Utah for 20+ years so maybe it’s from that or I get told a lot that I have a familiar face so maybe it’s just that. Haha. I actually filmed this last summer and I figured they had been closed for a while before that because everything was gone and all the weeds and stuff are overgrown where it used to be dirt and cars. Lol I tried tear a part first because they are the closest to me, then Somers (closed) and then pick n pull. And you are right, lots or newer ish stuff. Hard to find older stuff.
I know the ram runner was one I don’t think the bro drozer was on it but I don’t remember
Yeah you might be right. I can’t remember where I heard that, or what video. But they have been moving the bro dozer around a lot lately and I know sparks had it down in Moab recently. 🤷🏼🤷🏼
*promo sm* ✨
Would be keen to see a video of your air ride set up if you feel like doing one. Been thinking of adding it to mine
Thanks man! Oh yeah for sure! I’ve been wanting to do one. I’ve only got the front air ride done but have all the parts to do the rear. It’s been 13 years I just need to do it! Haha.

Your Ram needs an inspection. Expired is 22 dude…..
Haha, good eye, you must have seen me driving. Don’t worry though hoss, she’s registered, I just never put the sticker on. Lol. It’s almost due so maybe I’ll just wait for the next one. 😁😁
I think the older milwakee 6227 and those are not compatible with that version 3. Swag. The older milwakee saws had a 3.5 inch cut. But your 6230 is supposed to work
That’s interesting. This setup I’ve got is working great for me. I thought I remember last time I was on swags website they had made some changes to these tables and maybe don’t even call them the version 3 anymore?? I could be mistaken but I remember something like that.
2024 EJS Moab. I’ll be there.👍
Oh heck yeah!! I’ll see you there!!
Great video man. Loved the nostalgic clips of the glory days!
Thanks man! The nostalgia is super fun! but those days are nothing compared to our glory days yet to come! 👊🏻👊🏻
So the “water in fuel” sensor became redundant after install? because that is not in the button like the oem one to detect water in the button of filter
That is a great point and one I had not thought of. The factory one is in the bottom and filters that have the sensor build in like some of the fleetgard are also in the bottom. So to your point I wonder how well this one works if at all!
@@SWALLDOGA WIF is useless unless it is at the bottom of the assembly.
@@patrickcarcamo622 valid point! Haha.
I just bought an XDP for my 17 ram. Pulled off my factory housing and everything just like you. Then inspected my NEW XDP filter housing and it was full of metal from machining. You made the right decision in going with a different brand.
Oh dang that’s crazy! I’m glad you noticed that before you installed it! That could have been bad! Good catch!!
Now which directions on the flush.
So I did it opposite of how it flows in the truck. In the truck it comes out of the top of the engine and goes in to the heater core on the fitting closet to the engine. So I hooked my hose to the one farthest from the engine and had the drain hose close to the engine. But I have seen people do both, switching between the two a few times to make sure to get everything out. Maybe I should have done that also.
Love it man! Stoked to see this years expo!
Thanks man!!
