S3 E11 Practicing the Welcome Prayer (Because what if everything really is for our healing?)
Переглядів 546Рік тому
In this episode I'm sharing a prayer I pray almost daily these days. When my spiritual director first pointed me to this practice, honestly, I didn't like it at all. But I knew I needed it. With time, it's shaping, healing and deeply challenging me in all the best (but not comfortable) ways. This prayer invites us to a giant trust fall, inviting us to fall into the arms of Love working all thin...

S3 E9 Encountering the Good Samaritan (Because to love our neighbor we need to see our neighbor)
Переглядів 2052 роки тому
In this imaginative prayer experience, we engage with Jesus' story of the Good Samaritan. As you watch the story unfold, you'll consider the question, Who is your neighbor? Who, in your life today, is the outsider, the one religious leaders might pass by on the road? Jesus makes the outsider the hero of this story, the one who shows mercy. How are you being invited to show mercy, to move to the...

S3 E7 A Practice for Releasing Burdens (Because we're all feeling a little weary these days)
Переглядів 3992 роки тому
In this prayerful, peaceful space, you're invited to release your burdens. What burden or weight are you carrying? What might you gain in releasing this to God? As we meditate on these verses from The Message version of Matthew 11, we'll consider with Jesus how we might learn to live more freely and lightly, even today. “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with...

Beautiful discussion!! Looking forward to interviewing this amazing author, speaker and sister in Christ! Susan- I am loving this channel I just discovered you yesterday! 🙂
Susan, Daniel Tal. I hope all is well. Would love to connect. Love that you are holding and putting out and praying for the light.
Hi Susan. Thanks for uploading this.
Lovely
one could add in the word woman and the experience it feels very similar.
As Father Greg Boyle says, “ We stand in awe of what people have had to carry rather than judgement in how they have carried it”. That’s the extravagant tenderness of God. Thank you for this interview.
Beautiful, thanks ❤
I love the illustration of your hands, neither clinched nor too loose, rather carefully cupped to tenderly hold each one you are communicating with--to let the chaff fall to the ground, but to keep the treasures.
Two of my favorite women 💕 yes! Felicia mentioned her trio of aunties, 😍 y'all are a part of my auntie voices speaking wisdom 💕. ❤️ Soaking prayer was also an entry for my journey too! ❤️ Reads like Jazz.. I feel that in the clips I've heard here and in Facebook. I'm so looking forward to my copy of AND arriving!
Beautiful, thank you ❤
I know this will come across like the epitome of arrogance, but I feel like it's God's fault for our broken images of Him. He doesn't seem to speak to us in ways we can easily discern, recognize or understand. Nor does He particularly seem to care about our finances, physical health, mental health, etc. Then on top of that, we have a Bible that's hard to understand because it has a million different interpretations and translations. And each person who adds their interpretation claims to be led by the same Holy Spirit everyone else claims to be led by. Why would God make this so damn confusing? Or allow it to be? A loving, earthly father would never allow so much confusion in his relationship with his children. And if one of his children didn't seem to understand his love for them, he would find a way to communicate it in a way that the child would recognize. It really seems that humans are more loving than God.
Thanks for your honestly. You don't sound arrogant to me at all. A living relationship with God often feels murky. Certainly there's lots in the Church and the world to make us question. Doubts, questions and disappointments are real, and I believe God welcomes all of this into our relationship. I guess I just want to say you're not alone and none of this is easy. I pray you find a renewed place of connection with Jesus that roots you ever more deeply in his love for you.
@@SusanCarson Thank you Susan and happy new year! I appreciate the reply, especially since this video is a few years old. I know I'm thinking about this in a western/Greek mindset, but this is all I know. This is who I am. I just don't understand why God doesn't speak to us in direct ways. I'm not good with the subtle, still, small, mysterious, word picture, obscure type of communication that God seems to use. Does He want us to treat our relationship with Him like a scavenger hunt? I've heard people say that part of the wonder of getting to know God is going through this treasure hunt. But surely people experience failures and mistakes along the way of trying to hear God. So I believe the cons outweigh the pros. I'd much rather have God speak to me in a clear, unmistakable voice. Just like a human speaking to me.
I'd love that, too@@WheelEstate. In this life we have more mystery than certainty. And there's lots of room for error. I've certainly missed many times over the years. It sounds like there's a desire in your heart for me, and I'm trusting God will meet you in that desire. So many things get in the way, but God's love is always seeking after us.
thank you!
You're most welcome!
Can’t agree more, love this episode
Always glad to hear Brad.
I couldn't agree more!
Thank you Susan! 💗
TY Susan for not monopolizing the conversation. Letting your guests speak.
Thanks for that encouragement. I try to leave lots of space for our guests.
Thank you so much for this! I just finished your 7 Days to a Rooted Life and it was so good.
So glad you found the devotional meaningful. There's a free 30 day version on the Book page of my website. You might enjoy that as well.
Everything before "I open to God" sounds like an anti prayer! Very dangerous.
I hear your concern. For me, this is a prayer of emptying unto fullness. A prayer of radical trust. I do not pray it lightly, and it doesn't feel comfortable. But it's been transformative for me.
@@SusanCarson Good for you, but not for me. Said in love.
@@davidwormell6609 I understand, David. I simply offer practices to try. Take anything helpful and leave the rest. All is grace.
12:49. Sadly, almost all my "conversations" are monologues.
With you, David, in the silence.
Thank you for this Susan! Bless you!
Bless you Sherri!
I’m so thankful that your video was on my feed yesterday. I went to your website and signed up for the 7 days for a more rooted life and then I had to buy your book. So glad to “meet” you Susan. God’s perfect timing!
So good to "meet" you, too! And I'm so glad to be connected.
Please give me your web address- thank you
This is really deep, especially the view of sin being the failure to love God, each other, and ourselves. It really emphasizes the kind and beautiful God who desires to restore us fully to love.
Hi Susan, i tried the link and there was nothing posted there anymore. Where can we find Bradley Jersak's questions now?
Let's try this one: bradjersak.com/the-meeting-place-facilitating-encounters-with-god-brad-jersak/
I love the idea of positive deconstruction. Letting God burn out lies while exalting truth in our hearts. Wonderful message!
Thank you for being “different” and voicing something rarely spoken of in this “performance driven culture !
Couldn't find the link to share a tiny bit of funding. I have subscribed though. Peace Love Light Life
Hi Samuel! Thanks so much for your interest in supporting us! Here's the link in case it's helpful: roots-branches-network.square.site/.
WOW! Thanks so much you three! I saw myself sitting in a chair in the middle of the Father Son & Holy Spirit. And at one point they moved in toward me and hugged me. Shortly after that Brad talked about a hug! 😂
So beautiful!
The few brave ones say “I’m outta here” but a large number like me stay in it too long! And oh man the suffering! Love this insight Paul!
Thank you Susan. I have been searching for this prayer. I sense lots of resistance that I just want to let go of. Blessings Dear!!
Hi 👋
Blessings to you, Carla!
Such a challenge
I totally agree!
soul nourishing! Thank you Susan
Great conversation. Loved the lectio divina reading at the end 🙏
I so hurt for Wm Paul , he’s become family to me although we’ve never met and yet I feel his pain. I understand beauty for ashes now. I would have never wanted him to suffer especially to the degree he did just so I could see healing and restoration but because God has healed him it gives me so much more hope.
I recently joined a breathwork practice that gave me surprising peace and settled my anxious and weary Mama nervous system. At the end I wanted to continue but felt it didn’t quite check all the boxes for me… I wanted to honor ans connect with the One who created me. I wasn’t quite sure until the end, but then it was clear. From the calming and inviting space to the peace-filled, slow and present voice of Ms. Carson, this is an answer to my unspoken prayer.
Thank You. I needed that today.
🏜💗❤️
You, bring such amazing practices. I am truly grateful 🦋
Thanks for your encouragement, Kylene. I'm glad these are meaningful for you!
RISKY AND BEAUTIFUL.
@@garysweeten5196 Thanks, Gary! So risky.
Love you, Brother Greg, & grateful for your life..
Thank you for having Felicia Murrell, I love you all and I have been going through this process called deconstruction (didn’t know there was a name for it) anyway my community is mostly black and I’m struggling to find some teachers that my community will be more likely to hear, no offense please. I’ve listened to Brad for over a year and Paul and Baxter and when I look for a more diverse panel I’m not finding anything. Any recommendations. Thank you so much.
Hi, Sharon. I'm so grateful for Felicia and the perspective she brings. She's one of my best teachers. She is a regular part of the Open Table community and conferences. Another source I love is Evolving Faith. They bring together many diverse voices. I recommend their podcast and events. Hope this helps!
Absolutely incredible and awesome ... loved what Terry said as well 🙌thank you
Amen, Susan. Thank you so much for this deep imaginative prayer. The Lord invited me to show mercy to someone special.
The whole of my being, Jesus's invited me to use the hole in my being ❄️ Generational healing, thank you Susan 🦋
Beautiful, Kylene!
Come to England!
For many years I had a picture of approaching the Throne and a foot would kick me away! Like Paul I had a fearful view of my own father and it’s been a long journey…..
I’m 70 and have been a Christian for over 50 yrs, deconstructing and restoring and realising I haven’t got a clue, yet so grateful my Papa is in the whole process
So beautiful, I keep listening to your story, Gods amazing restoration of our false selves! Thank you again. Will Kin ever write a book or could you co author?
I love that thought, Kathryn. I don't think it's on Paul's list right now, but who knows?
