I see way too many people use the wrong tools or are told to use the wrong tools, hopefully this will help and maybe at least save a flywheel, crankshaft...or both down the line!!!

@nd 55355c that was in for rebuild this month. This is a the Stock setup that was used on Enduro and Hustler and this one is going on a "Hustler" version. Stock rebuild but with my standard thing I always do, complete multi and valve job, surface truing of head, deck, and flanges bore corrected and deglazed, Micro polishing of journals surfaces, etc.. We Bored .020 over on the piston, Shaved head .010, 4 angle valve seat recut and refaced intake valve. 3 angle seat recut and reface on Exhaust, with port smoothing/transitioning. ARC Billet connecting rod, governor delete. Engine will be getting the Correct Dellorto ua19 carb/intake and open larger exhaust that Rupp used once on the bike so should be a good combination.

To be fair, if you're wearing shorts and a t shirt, it's not really a cold start. Come to Canada in March.
I like flatheads I'd rather have a overhead bow once you have that one of those you'll you'll save yourself why am I doing this the carburetors are so finicky on them flatheads😮

Yup, Growing up My Grandad Gave me all his small engine tools & He had a homemade one of these Braised together from 2 nuts & a bolt when He was in the small engine Business, as well as a non threaded crank protector but I don't like using it as much. I'm into Vintage Briggs stuff & every other flywheel I find is busted. Im guilty too tho. I was working on an Ariens 911 Mower with a Tecumseh VLV60 engine & tried striking the flywheel nut flush with the end of the crankshaft & still messed it up. I since sourced another crank but that was an expensive mistake. I am also working on a Flymo with a Tecumseh AV660 2 stroke engine & the threads on the crank are also messed up from somone else trying to get the flywheel off. Because of all this, I Bought a Tecumseh universal puller & also fine thread grade 8 bolts. I like this method because it is more of a "controlled" process... I drill & tap the 3 flywheel holes & then use another bolt with 4 slots filed down the threads & also filed flat on the tip to act as a bottoming tap & Ive used this tool quite often now. The only downside is it is easy to damage the points cover & moisture can travel through to the holes to the points quicker. I don't mind replacing my points cover now that I have a method to remove the flywheel & I think I will add 3 small bolts to serve as hole plugs. ✌👍

Looks good , when you put back together and ride it , and want to go faster , don’t be tempted to to override the governor , the Tecumse motor can’t handle it , I blew up a few of them in the late 60 s , as I ran from the police , throwing my paper route , I then started using the Briggs and straton , they would run wide open governor off , and never throw a rod , good luck

how can you find out how old tecumseh engines are?
Starting by later 1962 Tecumseh made engines used a date code for the serial number. The numbers restarted each decade though, but decade can be determined by model revision digit, and how its outfitted/setup. Service repair manuals usually have an explanation and location points noted in the first section of the repair books.

So what was the objective related to running the engine on an incline? I thought you were trying to expose a weakness in the engine's splash lubrication, but obviously I was wrong in that regard
I have no idea what this video is about and what engine this is but maybe its proof that the engine can indeed run at a slant? Maybe hes trying to prove that a scooter would be able to run at a high incline without choking out or somthing

I remember in high school taking small engine repair, and going to our local wrecking yard and bringing these and other engines to school to repair and receive credits on each motor. Always received A s and had a great teacher! I would always disconnect the governor to get max power, we were crazy! 👍
