    1:07:10 past lives recollection OK, memory is weak, we often can't remember what we did last week... HOWEVER... If past lives are more numerous than grains of sand in the sea, then one of them must have been in the Hell realm and I am sure I would remember SOMETHING from the eternity spent in the Hell realm. So, why don't YOU remember it? MAYBE because, the realms are metafores for various states of mind, and not actual places somewhere nobody knows where. And rebirths in these various realms are nothing more than a more less dramatic change of the mental state. So when the mind burns in hatred, a person is born as a demon, and the world is Hell. When the mind is calm, composed, focused, at peace, filled with loving kindness - the person is a heavenly being in heavenly realm. If the person is an addict (drug, food, alcohol , sex, computer games, social networks...whatever else) then the person knows first hand how it is to be a Hungry ghost... It is these births that Dhamma is about! So, recalling past lives? Sure! They all happened in this very lifetime. It is just that some of them we really don't want to remember, while others we really don't want to forget. "Rebirth" is Samsara is a cycle of Dependent Originarion of Gladness - Sadness, Dukkha - Sukha, in the mind.

    Observe the Four Foundations of Mindfulness in light of the Three Great Marks (annica, anatta, dhukka). This is the wisdom to counter the first Three Fetters and get a foot on the path of stream-entry. The moment the realisation occurs that indeed the Four Foundation of Mindfulness are subject to the Three Great Marks is the moment of stream-entry. This is right view.

    • @linhv5896
      @linhv5896 3 роки тому

      Ajahn Bram often mentioned that Jhana(s) attainment and deep knowledge in Suttas are also required to become a stream entry.

    • @Ghatikara
      @Ghatikara 2 роки тому

      @@linhv5896 I don't think he would have said that because Jhanas are pretty advanced and even a Sakadagami (Once-returner) would find it a bit hard to enter the Jhanas.

    • @protofone3616
      @protofone3616 Рік тому

      Not all the jhanas, just the 1st as that's all that's needed for enlightenment. The 2nd through 8th jhanas are not necessary.

    I love the imagery in her approach of a sun that is warm and shines on everyone and everything. What helps me a lot is near the end, she says that metta is a strong, solid foundation on which you can rest." A foundation like that helps me not feel like I'm just running here and there in life, blown this way and that.
