Recreation Adventure Explore
Приєднався 2 жов 2011
Recreation, Adventure and Explore is my channel for getting off the beaten track without being a dedicated mountain biker or any other focused group of cyclists. Its about getting out and enjoying the countryside, the ride and getting to places other people may not know about. Mainly focused on Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire.

Mystery Object, UFO, Somercotes, Derbyshire, UK 7/09/22

This object flew over my garden on 7th July 2022. I live on a flight path and I am used to seeing airplanes, helicopters and even satellites.. this was different. I remember it was a moonless night, really dark, whispy clouds and the stars where barely visible to the naked eye. I'd forgotten that I had these videos as I changed my mobile a while back and found them again on my old phone (Poco X...

Up and Over the Gregory Tunnel on the Cromford Canal. 2 mins for both directions.
Переглядів 343 місяці тому
A quick way of going over the tunnel rather than going through it. Its only about a 25-30ft rise (8-9m), but fun and quick. Easier from the west side (Cromford), the east side (Whatstandwell) is shorter, steeper and gnarlier than it looks. As always be aware of walkers/hikers.

Переглядів 84Рік тому
A 20 mile loop from Minninglow Car Park (HPT) taking in Biggin, Hartington, and Pilsbury via the (High Peak Trail) 54, 458 and 459 (Cycle Routes). Easy to navigate but with some long hard climbs and fast descents. Suit MTB's, Gravel and EMTB's or walking. Fantastic scenery and off the beaten track. The lead mine in the vid is Ludwells' Mine and a bit furthur on a pair of Red Kites as a bonus. D...

Harborough Rocks Space Race?
Переглядів 21Рік тому
Just off the High Peak Trail at Harborough Rocks like the ruins of Britains first attempt of launching captured German V2 rockets in 1946................. .......errrm, no its the base pylons of an old mineral elevator which intrigues people who pass by, but who don't know what they are. Basically a cable car for transporting rocks/ minerals. If you've seen the 1971 movie, Get Carter with Micha...
Long Dale and Gratton Dale bridleway.
Переглядів 71Рік тому
Peak District. Long Dale and Gratton Dale, then on to Parsley Hay via Green Lane. Starting at the car park at Friden (Newhaven) on the High Peak Trail this ride can be quite challenging. Gratton Dale is not bike friendly although it is a bridleway. Beware of random rocks, Hawthorn trees, nettles, water and horses. Best ridden or walked when dry (summer). Best suited to MTB/eMTB or Gravel bikes....

Ashover Singletrack Part One. White Peak Mountain Biking

MTB Ashover and Kelstedge (Derbyshire) from the book White Peak Mountain Biking by Jon Barton. Can my cheapish ebike (Bafang BBS) conversion handle the off road sections like Vernon Lane and the steep Amber Valley ascent at Ashover without casuing me serious injury or trashing the bike? I hope so as I have a 10 mile ride home after completing the loop. Part One (of 2), Riber View Farm / Kaths C...

Cromford Canal with Leawood Pump House in Steam (via MTB)
Bow Wood and Coumbs Wood are both rideable with defined trails but remember they're footpaths not bridleways just like Cromford Moor/Black Rocks on the opposite side of the valley. So I can't endorse riding them on YT, but will just say plenty of people do.
Would you recommend Bow Wood then mate?
Thanks for this. I have seen it in John Barton's book but now know what to expect. It looks quite muddy and I suppose different in the dry. I'm going to Pt 2 now.
Your welcome. Beware of sudden drops and sticking out stones when on Vernon Lane.
Did you do the same journey back? That climb at the start of the high peak trail from the canal is a killer
Yes I rode both directions, think I did about 55 miles in total. Sheep Pasture Incline and Middleton Incline (to finally get up to Middleton Top) aren't a walk in the park, and coming back down can be hairy on loose grit.
Sony is best
Go pro is more sports camera with better image stabilization .Sony is for vlog or just walking and you need gimbal for it .
Yes the ZV1 really needs a gimbal when walking about, the stabilization isn't great even with all the options turned on, especially in wintertime as the low light levels keep the shutter speeds down which has a hit on the stabe. The GP11 needs a more responsive rear screen in cold weather.. mine is seriously frustrating to the point of almost un-useable if you want to change settings (for example the FOV from Linear to Wide).
Thanks for the upload Rob! I've just visited Minninglow and find it a fascinating place. I've liked and subscribed. Me and My Dad produce similar content :)
Your welcome. Yes Minninglow is a great place, the embankment (viaduct) is a wonder of pre-Victorian engineering . And then theres the burial ground on Minninglow Hill itself, which I didn't film. I'll take a look at your chanel.
