My videos will be from Heritage Railways, both up to date and from the recent past and the occasional main line. See also GRICER462
I have a large number of videos from the 1990's which were taken on photo charters. I am in course of converting them from analogue to digital. A few are already on this and my other channel GRICER462 and I shall upload more clips from time to time.

Hi There it is Mr Cannadine T. Boxill-Harris, I have another interesting idea for most of you Class 508, Class 507, Class 313, Class 314 and that also is including those interesting Class 315 Fans out there, rather than scrapping most of those Class 508, Class 507, Class 313's Class 314's including the Class 315's maybe you guys can convert them and including the refurbishment into those Leyland 680 Engine, Volvo B10M Engine, Cummins M11 Engine, Gardner 6LXC Engine, Gardner 6LXB Engine, Gardner 8LXB Engine, Class 508 Class 507, Class 313's, Class 314's and the Class 315's and convert all of them into a 2 Carriages and Three Carriages of the Class 508, Class 507, Class 313's, Class 314's and that is including those Class 315's for most of us Class 314's and the Class 315's Diesel Train Fans out there Please? Are you still going to do this interesting type of Project for all of us out there Pretty PLEASE.
I was on this train.Superb run until she failed at Swainsthorpe with a hot axle box.
Won’t be long now until blue Peter will surely be back out on the mainline again
Sounds bloody fantastic 😀😀😀
Fantastic 👏🏼
Thank you
Considering that the 76000s and their Ivatt Class 4 predecessors didn't have a great reputation in BR days (for steaming particularly), the NYMR seems to know how to get the best out of them. Looked well in control of its 7 coaches on the 1 in 49.

I have photos of flying scotsman coming through Barnsley in the 70's and the crowds of young and old waiting to see her was amazing , she brings out the crowds whenever she appears .

Thanks Dan. You may also like my video "Blue Peter on fast freight " and "B1 + B12 at high speed". Well worth a look.
I posted this on Facebook, but I think it's worth repeating here, too. I like this video a lot as it's a rare example of A) An awesome train at verifiably 40mph, and... B) the abandoned Quorn loop that instead evolved into the double track. What we see here in the foreground are trap points leading to, for want of better words a 'facing crossover' from the down line to the up line, after having been lifted. Throughout spring and summer 1985, the single up line through Quorn and Woodhouse was doubled to create a passing loop through the station, starting at the north end (as shown) and working south to approximately the current signal box location. The north-point ground frame was commissioned on January 20th 1985, the traps shown in this picture were installed in March 1985, and finally the south point was installed on August 19th 1985 (sources: Main Line magazine). Quorn box (ex Market Raisen) had arrived on site on Jan 22nd 1984, but wasn't placed on its current base until 1987. Work to commission this passing loop continued through the late 1980s with an impressive fully flexible scheme with outer homes, colour light distants and calling-on arms in both directions for both platforms (IIRC), but by 1991 it was already obsolete as the Swithland Sidings and eventual double track schemes over took it. None of this Quorn scheme was actually commissioned. The south point had been removed by autumn 1991, and by December that year, the first stretch of what is now the modern down line had been laid from the trailing crossover at Swithland to about opposite the current Swithland box. This stub grew over the years and eventually reached Quorn by mid 1997, and throughout 1998 it stretched further northward towards Loughborough. Main Line never recorded when the trap shown in this photo was actually removed. Eventually on June 1st 2000, the double track from Rothley to Loughborough (with no signalling at Quorn at all) opened... But the admirable S&T team lost no time in opening the current Quorn scheme on January 17th 2004. I helped in this commissioning. I fell arse over tit whilst passing a saw to someone who knew what they were actually doing.
Well 13x 60ft coaches passed in 13.1 seconds. That's 60ft per second or 40mph.
The max they are allowed to run with the railway open to the public but while not carrying passengers I believe?
Sorry for asking this question, may I have your permission to use the audio from this video? I'll make sure give you a credit.

Seems like a bad idea to turn on the track cleaner when you're going up hill.
The steam is not for track cleaning. They are cylinder drain cocks to release any water in the cylinders to avoid damaging them
Beautiful area.
Regards from Australia 🇦🇺.
At least it gave Harry and Ron an opportunity to catch up to the train in their flying car.
shes not just priming a little, she is priming her guts out, and even as she primes, the fireman still has the bleeding injector on! bit concerned it took the driver so long to notice his loco was priming so badly before opening the drain cocks! At least he shut the regulator in a effort stop the carry over.
Who is she?
@@lembriggs1075 the loco
If I'm not mistakening You should actually turn on the injectors I THINK And there's a reason Let's say for egsample the glass is 3/4 Then the engine primes The suddenly your glass is full It's the water lifting up Then when the engine stops priming The water just disappears Then ye drop a plug Again I think that's wat I heard
@@laaity when you have experience of operating steam loco boilers, feel free to comment. You DO NOT inject more water into a boiler when the engine is priming its guts out. 9 times out of 10 the reason a engine is priming is because the boiler is over full of water. If you suffer carry over with 3/4 if a glass of water, the issue is water quality caursing priming, and the engine should not be worked hard until the boiler has been washed out You also have to manage your water level dependant on the inclines and decents you know you will encounter, if going bunker/tender first up a incline, then extreme careful management of water is required to keep the firebox crown covered but not to high so to induce priming. In either case, the, drain cocks need opening and regulator shutting as soon as priming starts to prevent damage to valve faces and cylinders
@@James_Rivett idk where I heard inject water Opologies Unless I heard the story wrong And I actually do have a bit of experience Not alot I think I mixed up a story or 2

In wonder if the people riding in the cars were more upset about possibly having to walk back down or worried that the whole train would start rolling backwards.
Amazing
It was a great day, at times, for videos but the photographers were not happy as she had leaking glands on the middle cylinders.
Really
7 coaches for a class 4 loco......well over her weight limit I think
Pelletgun hunting would be Nice there.
Absolutely brilliant job by driver and fireman, plenty of psi, cocks open to clear condensation, regulator mastery. She didn't slip once, beautiful to listen to. Thanks for posting fellow gricer.
Excelente imagen felicitaciones
I think he released steam from the water drain cocks to reduce power and hence wheel slip.
Thanks for the comment but cylinder drain cocks are used to expel water from the cylinders to prevent hydraulicing which could cause serious damage to the cylinders.
The S&P 18 blew out a cylinder on the Durango & Silverton recently. They never say what the cause was, but it sounds similar to what's been described here: ua-cam.com/video/tVh0lpmgJ3Q/v-deo.html

Propelling from the rear isn’t allowed today Steven, it was when I was on the Railway, the Loco on the rear provided the power and the dead leading Loco had the brake.
