Setup Scaffold on a Roof

      YES. TDS full form is Total Dissolved Solids, which is the total concentration of dissolved substances in water. TDS comprises organic matter and inorganic salts such as potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, and others.

    Looks great except the eaves, I imagine you would have had a better result if you would have used primer first because the wood is bleeding through the paint. Might have to do another coat yet.

      Thanks, We didn't paint the eaves as they are aluminum, they probably need a good pressure wash to clean up them.

      @@thehomefixer176 Oh sorry don't know how I missed that. You can however paint the aluminum if pressure washing doesn't clean it up enough. Five years ago we had a guy spray ours and it still looks great! Just a thought for you to consider.

    I know many people have patched them with epoxy fiberglass-type patches, but it's better just to take it out and redo it anyways - homes that still have the cast iron that stuff has been in service for the last 50-100 years - and it's been rusting from the inside out all that time, so most cast iron DWV is probably at the end of it's life or past it. I found it strange that your horizontal runs are sitting on the basement floor, do they have the correct fall/pitch?

      Yes it pitches down into the dirt and under the concrete slab towards the main clay sewer pipe. Yea Clay sewer pipe which is probably older than the cast iron.

    I keep seeing people use spray foam in inappropriate places and it distresses me. Spray foam is not for fixing plumbing and it is not for repairing your foundation. It will not hold your house up

      @@thehomefixer176 where I am the water is very hard, they seize up and stem snaps off or stays open halfway, can't be fixed.

    I understand the point you are trying to make but by replacing globe valves with ball valves you are improving "flow" not "pressure". Like volts and amps, the terms are not interchangeable.

      Yes your right Flow should be the term I used. Even a small hose can have more pressure but less flow. Maybe I should say "Fix home with low water flow."

      @@thehomefixer176 It would be interesting to know the before and after GPM of your modification. The combination of installing valves with lower Cv and removing elbows will certainly have had a positive effect.

    ball valve!!! gate valve will freeze in one spot over time. trust me I have cut many out

      The hard water collects inside the valve, but this is over years. If you install a whole house filter system this shouldn't happen.

    Mine only came with the hi low off switch. Now hi and low works but I can’t turn it off. Think I need to buy a timer?

      The timmer will allow you to use it with the switch you have.

    It is really risky searching youtube for pulling toenails. All the other videos thumbnails were gross. All of the nail pullers seem to be designed to pull perpendicular to the board the nail is in, which tends to cause the wood to split when trying to pull nails put in at an angle.

    Thank you for the encouragement. I'm a 70 yr old lady, am renovating my 1920's house and need to replace the old sewer vent. I've planned and prepared but wasn't sure if the Diablo blade would really do the job without a lot of muscle power. I'm more confident now and will get this project finished! Question though: wouldn't a heat gun on the rubber coupling be easier to stretch it?

    The clean out should have been on the vertical pipe about 2’ feet up because if the pipe was backup and full, when you opened the clean out you would have a mess. 😂

    One other thing you could have done to test your PVC pipe is to get a test balloon and fill your pipe up. To make sure there is no leaks You put the test balloon in your test tea

      Should go where the heater hvac is, unless you have it in the return vent.

      But new homes are not as built as good as the old ones were. At least the wood was true 2x4 and cedar wood. A new home with a roof leak would rot right away these old homes can be saved even after all that.

      no, just use a 180 grit or finer, not to ruff of sand paper
