2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz SEL Review - after 1 week
Переглядів 62 тис.3 роки тому
Review and my impressions after owning the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz SEL for 1 week. MOSTLY positive! There’s a couple of things that I point out for potential buyers. I go over my thoughts of the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine. Is it enough power?
Don’t get the turbo it’s way less reliable. You’ve got the turbo to worry about, but also the unreliable dual clutch transmission. Too many things to go wrong
We just bought a 24 in sage green in the limited trim and love it.
I’m 6,4 you think I will fit comfortably?
They sell an aftermarket cover for the Hyundai Santa Cruz truck, but you have to silicone them on so they don’t make also the center consul that you have it does work. I have it.
Your door handle will open the door. They replaced mine and attended again, so I just peeled it all off and shining now I don’t have to worry about it no more.
You didn't like the tonneau cover because it used "valuable real estate". Well, the tray in the deep storage space in the console is wasting valuable real estate, too. There are plenty of other storage spots to be used for those small items you would put in the tray. I have a tray there in my Ford Edge, and it's such a big annoyance; having to take it out and put it back in, to get anything out of or put things into the deep storage area, while also holding the armrest up with the tray in one hand, and the object in the other hand. I love the gloss black trim in the interior. Blandness and monotony is what you have left, without the gloss pieces. It isn't that big a deal to wipe things off occasionally. In fact, I keep excess fast food napkins in the console, to use for occasional spills and dusting. I agree with you on the turbo. Turbos are problematic, for every make, model and brand vehicle on the road. They are prone to needing repair far earlier than non-turbo motors. They are a cash-cow for dealers, that most people are better off leaving on the dealer's lot and ordering a non-turbo model. The sales results are in. Maverick moved 94,058 examples in 2023. By comparison, the Hyundai Santa Cruz lagged behind with merely 36,675 deliveries to its name. Maverick sales were held back by supply chain issues, and otherwise would have had higher sales.
Out of curiosity do you know if they make a cover cap for the back for this vehicle? Its so cute and the back would be great to take my dogs out to the dog park or carry big stuff and it be covered
This is also my first hyundai. But for the gas cap that locks. I've had cars since 2014 that the cap locks I also don't have the issue with my legs hitting the screen but I also don't drive with my legs sideways and so close I use my whole leg to drive. So maybe that's why? And as for the microfiber that's a HUGEEEEE NONO microfibers are great to clean with when they are wet however when they are dry dragging it across anything that is high gloss piano black will start scratching... try something felt it will not scratch
Dual clutch is not the most reliable transmission. I bought standard transmission.
Did you try to fit tools into trap door compartment like a circular saw, tool box, chainsaw? Show us what fits into it. PUT A TWO BY FOUR BY EIGHT IN IT. Does rear seat fold down. IS REAR SEAT OPENED TO BACK.? Can adults fit comfortibly into back ? What can it tow? We know it looks great. This a pickup truck afterall Can it do work at all?
Love the captain rex decal!
What about water in the headlights? Another UA-camr has posted about their headlights fogging up constantly
Dam nice truck,I have tne same we have both cars you have. I have roll up tonneau cover $300.00, Great Scott its a winner let's be glad its made in america. Thank for update.
I call it the "El Hyundai-mino"
Hey I got my bed cover from this website call real trucks
Bro , any update on reliability ..im thinking looking into that NA non turbo Verision .im coming from a 13 Ridgeline ?
No problems so far. I’m coming up on 25k miles and everything is fine.
Got my 2023 today. Same package SEL with AWD. Khaki grey. I added the he’s y duty 7pun towing package for it ($900 includes brake controller and dealer install) and bed extender $399
Just got mine ❤love it so much
1965 mustang had 200 hp V8, 191 hp in a lighter SANTA CRUZ JUST RIGHT O TO 60?, GOOD MILEAGE AND NO TURBO TO WORRY ABOUT.
Great review!
well done, answered a lot of questions for me. do you have the all wheel drive option?
I wanted one but couldn’t take the dealer add. Got a Ridgeline instead. Very happy with my decision. The sound system is far superior.
Great review. Your a natural. Question: Did you consider AWD? and why not? Thank you sir.
MY 6 month experience. I have the top of the line Limited, turbo, DCT, leather seats. The transmission is failing. Google it, seems Hyundai is having many problems with the DCT, Dual Clutch Transmission. My service department denies there is any problem with these Santa Cruz. Hyundai Corporate denies any problems, even though I have a Hyundai document that says "DO NOT SELL"... Hyundai is unsure how to fix. The problem is the car will go into 'limp' mode, decreasing your speed to 20 miles per hour. This a very dangerous on the freeway. There is no warning, the car just loses power. Auto braking also seems to buzz a warning, when no cars are around. I turned off the lane keep assist, because the car does not allow you to make a 'gradual' lane change.... it keeps jerking you back into your original lane... I would not buy this car, knowing these flaws.
Bought my 2022 in ice white. It had 7,000 miles and all the bells and whistles. I bought it from a ford dealership and they didn't know much about it. These videos are helpful!!! My last was a 2007 Pontiac G6, so the technology is amazing!! Love it!!! And former owner took the depreciation 💸
I have this color in the activity package. Had mine for a year now and I experienced the same with the apple glitch and the door peeling. No one has a Santa Cruz in my town so I get a lot of looks and questions too but I like that I stand out 😄
Santa Cruz Lol This chassis Is a Tucson With Bet on the back Thats All
I bought mine about a month ago, I like it over all. A few things though that I'm not overly fond of, I wish it had better gas millage. Also the little port window in the back, I dont nessarly need that and wouldve been better with a solid, pane of glass for better visability. and the seat headboards too, if they were maybe lower or could be removed for better visabliity.
Great review. I was on the fence about turbo. I think I agree with you instead. Thanks,
Thanks for the info for the SEL. It's hard to find info for just this trim its crazy. I appreciate you going in dept about the power of the motor as well. Knowing it's got the pep to go is all I needed to know.
That was my intention. Your welcome!
We just got the sage grey one in Mount Holly last weekend. So far we are loving it. Nice to see another local (I noticed you’re panther references)😂😂 how does it compare to the Palisades?
I want one badly.
Could you take it into the dealer to replace the peeling plastic handles? That's ridiculous that they are peeling after 1 year.
Wtf !!!? There is no SEL non turbocharged Santa Cruz in Canada ! This country is a joke 😂 Gov wants to go green and you can’t even buy basic model. Just turbocharged 😂 haha
Thank you. Beautiful car 🚙
Check out the LED lights they ALL have water in them and leak Also, the turn singles on the front the arrows are pointing in the wrong directions . On the interior the speedometer is on the left and RPM is on the right Most vehicles the speedometer is on the right ant RPM is on the left.
I own the car. Literally none of my lights hold water. If they did, I would say so. I’m reporting on my experience with the vehicle.
@@padawanpanther468 I want to the Jones Dealership in Belair Maryland and ALL four of the Santa Cruzes had water inside the led lenses. I pointed it out to the dealer and his comment was “ ohhh it will evaporate and dry up “ Thanks but no thanks! I walked out !
@@scottleatherman163 gotcha. I want to clear up a misconception here. Water does sit on the outside of the lens of the daytime running lights - between the light lens and the plastic of the grill. It does not build up inside the lens. This happens after driving in rain or after a car wash and dries up very quickly.
@@padawanpanther468 Just telling you what I saw with my very two eyes ! The water was INSIDE the lens of the led lights . I also pushed under the lens with my fingers and you could see the water rolling around INSIDE the lens on the bottom. My fingers / hands were not wet from any water on the outside. The car dealer I was with saw the very same thing and also tried to wipe the water off BUT could not since it was INSIDE the lens.
@@padawanpanther468 No misconception or gotcha here! 🤣🤣😎👍
Do you know if it can be fitted with the ladder rack? or a closed shell aftermarket camper cover, thanks in advance. I’m looking forward to get the low in model 2023 in March.
As proven by Jeffree Dalmer u can have bodies in car,,,no way can u drive head or taillight out! 😱
Y headlights down were u bump a pole take light out😜
Didn’t know they sold them without back sliding window.
I wanted one so bad when I seen the concept version in 2015 and prayed they wouldnt change the aggressive look & styling too much but they did.The vehicle still is nice but it took me off the list to get & purchase one. I wish I could buy the concept model that would really turn heads also. Good Luck with yours its a nice vehicle but sadly in my opinion doesnt compete with the 2015 Detroit Auto Show version. How do you feel about that did you like the original Santa Cruz concept design car styling better????Im curious and others out there are you dissapointed?
Hate that corner as well!
Just bought a 2023 limited and I'm in love. I've only got 25 miles right now lol. Great luck to you I hope I love mine in 10 years when it's warranty is up and I move on.
How is the room in the back seat for a 6ft or more person
I bought a 2023 in this same trim and absolutely love it
Have you had issues with water (condensation) inside the daytime running lights?
I just bought a 2023 SEL,and love it. Your review was very helpful.
I'm 6'4 and I ended taping foam to that annoying corner. LOL
Hate how you cannot lock the doors , without using the key fob or the phone, that was my biggest annoyance. You should be able to lock it from the inside when you get out or touch the door handle, but neither work, so many times I just forget to lock it up .
I spent months researching every last thing about this vehicle to decide exactly what configuration of this vehicle would be best for me. Your videos were super helpful, as everyone else was only covering the Limited! In particular it was good to hear from just a regular guy and not some gearhead, who was satisfied with the base engine. I settled on the 2023 SEL in this color, although I did spring for the activity package. It's been a month and I'm in love with this car. I owe some of that to you, so thank you!
Love the kind words. That was my entire goal when making these. Keep on cruzin’!
