Nordic Raven and Golden Ratio inspired, handcrafted leather wallet, by Handcrafted Leather UK
Welcome to Handcrafted Leather UK.
I hope you like the new series of build videos I will be putting together for all future customers, showing their item coming to life. I also hope to be creating some how to, do and don't, and various equipment and tool videos in the next few months to help promote leather tooling and carving here in the UK, for students that attend my courses and those just wanting to find a hobby that is just so much fun, and therapeutic to do.

A customer asked if I could put together a wallet for her husband on the occasion of their 3rd wedding anniversary, wouldn't you know it 3 years gets you leather! After some conversation, a loose design brief was created, something manly, incorporating his love of physics, possibly Celtic or Nordic inspired.
Well I came up with the idea to fully redesign a wallet based entirely around the Golden Ratio, 1.618. A dimension was found as the base measurement and every single adjustment from then on was multiplied by the ratio.
I wanted to make sure there were a lot of Fibonacci spirals worked within the design too, given that its directly proportional to the wallet itself and to all living things. So the scrolls looked great but needed to have a centre piece to frame, and I couldn't think of much more Nordic than a Raven, entwined with aged bronze scrolls and knots.
I have truly enjoyed creating this for you Chrissie and I hope your husband gets to see the effort and thought you put into the design and creation of this wonderful gift.Thank you for your support and custom, it honestly means everything to my small business and its future success.

no sound yet I know, haven't figured that part out yet lol. so this is a test edit, learning to use a boom arm and positioning the Sony a7iii on it and what settings the camera needs for filming, and then learning about the iMovie editor. yeah its rough but we all start somewhere

Well here is the catch up from the weekend that saw us host a meet for leatherworkers, Handcrafted Leather Workers UK. Such a great weekend with suppliers and visitors coming to the workshop to meet each other, see some demos and meet suppliers and to droooool over the tools. It was fantastic. It hopefully is the beginning of a new community spirit with open doors, skill sharing and new friends...

Here is the completion of the custom handcrafted leather belts I was commissioned to create for Ryan. It shows a little of the work involved, dying, painting, along with some of the tools I Love to use. I have missed steps out, unintentionally, and will do my best to make sure I catch them in future videos, such as the carving with a swivel knife and tooling the artwork up. Its video number 2, ...

@@barbarabridder it’s difficult to edit down over 8 hours of working time to a video that gives customers a feel and an insight to their order being created. It is indeed fast, but I want to try and keep that customer engaged in how it was built. It isn’t a tutorial, build along or even a basic how to, and doesn’t even pretend to be any of these. No stamps my friend, hand drawn and carved with a swivel knife.
