Painted Vanity Top - 1 Year Update!
In a year-long follow-up to a video about repainting vanities, we provide updates on the condition and maintenance. The vanities have held up well with regular cleaning using various methods, showing minimal wear and tear. Some minor chipping occurred when sharp objects fell on them, but the chips didn't enlarge significantly. One vanity displayed discoloration, possibly due to a wooden pedestal for soap.
To address these issues, the we decided to repaint the vanities. We cleaned the surfaces, skipped sanding for minor nicks, and used the old paint and foam rollers, which were still in good condition after a year. After applying a fresh coat of paint, the vanities looked great after 24 hours.

If you haven't already seen it, in one of my previous videos, I installed an accent wall over my exposed brick wall. I fixed the panels against the wall by placing wood boards on top of the brick wall. This in turn created a gap between the panels and the adjacent wall. @goo...

What if I don't have an outlet for the green ground wire? This is the problem. Also, I'm not comfortable with replacing the original dryer 4 prong cord with a 3 prong cord
This is amazing. How long is the pigtail ground? Not sure if mine will reach the nearest outlet. Also, my NEMA 10-50 outlet is hooked up to 2 30a breakers tied together. Is this ok? Thanks for this awesome video!
Hi @evanbaasinger5889! I think the breaker setup may need attention from a lisenced electrician - this is what I could gather from the LLM like ChatGPT Q. Is it normal for nema 10-50 to be connected to two 30a breakers? > This is an important electrical safety question. A NEMA 10-50 outlet should NOT be connected to two 30A breakers. Here's why: A NEMA 10-50 outlet is rated for 50 amps and should be connected to a dedicated 50-amp circuit breaker, not two 30-amp breakers. This improper configuration could be dangerous as: The outlet is not properly protected at its rated capacity Using two breakers tied together is not a proper substitute for a proper 50A breaker The wiring connected to the outlet must also be rated appropriately for 50 amps If you have this configuration in your home, I strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect and correct it. Improper electrical configurations can create serious fire hazards and safety risks. Q. Then what's the 2 30 amp tied together good for? > Two 30-amp breakers tied together (a 30/30 double-pole breaker) is properly used for 240V appliances that require 30 amps, such as: - Electric dryers (with proper NEMA 10-30 or 14-30 receptacle) - Electric water heaters - Small electric kilns - Some air conditioners - Some welding equipment The important thing is that the breaker, wiring, and outlet all need to match in their amperage rating. So if you're using a 30/30 double-pole breaker, it should be connected to: - 10-gauge wire (rated for 30 amps) - A 30-amp rated outlet (like NEMA 10-30 or 14-30) Your current setup with a 30/30 breaker connected to a 50-amp outlet (NEMA 10-50) is mismatched and needs to be corrected for safety. The breaker and outlet ratings should always match. Q what are my options? > For a NEMA 10-50 outlet setup, here are your safe options: - Install a proper 50-amp circuit breaker (the correct solution): - Replace the two 30A breakers with a single 50A double-pole breaker - Ensure the wiring is 6-gauge copper (rated for 50 amps) Have a licensed electrician do this work If this is for an older appliance that actually only needs 30 amps: - Change the outlet to match the proper amperage (like a NEMA 10-30) - Ensure wiring matches the new amperage rating Again, have a licensed electrician make these changes
Mine is a 10-30P, but the same principal applies. Thanks for the video.

How did you get it looking shiny at the end like glass looking?
Hi @mobiletherapeuticsbyshaniq8501 it by nature ends up looking very shiny! (if you are looking for a matte feel, this may not be the right choices though) amzn.to/3ZgeXDv
Can this be used on a dull formica kitchen countertop also?
Hello @evonnei9319! I have not tried it on a formica kitchen countertop; I think it should work on them just as well - but you may need to really clean the surface well!
@@goodenoughdiy Thank you xx
How is it holding up with use?
Hi @PONSAUTOMOTIVE, here is a video on 1 year update - tl;dr it's held up pretty well for a heavy use with regular cleaning. I did repaint it once again to cover up some discoloration and blemish spots that developed over the uses.
where is the next video
This is great ❤ I have to work up the nerve to do mine. Already have the nasty carpet pulled up
All the best @edgybarbie77!
Can you plug the dryer with 4 wires then use a 3 a prong adapter? Or do you have to wire the dryer using 3 wires if using an adapter to match it?
Any update? Is still holding the paint?
Hello! It’s been holding up pretty well. I had a few spots that came chipped off but was able to paint over it again. I have another video that shows one year check in! Please check my play list!

Thank you
This video is a certified banger
wow! thanks for floow up :)
Excellent explanation of the content you provided and your update was fantastic. Thank you again for taking the time. What was the original surface? Do you think this would work on a marble top as well?
Glad it was helpful! Our vanity was some weird kind that I’m not sure what exactly it is called. It wasn’t as smooth like porcelain like but pretty smooth. May I suggest if you put a little dab on a hidden spot to test it out? Have you already given it a try yet?
the 'original' 3-wire scheme for electric dryers was not 'dangerous', and never will be. what the electric code is doing is simply saying that a 4-wire scheme, with it's own ground wire, is 'safER'... although the likelihood of anyone on the 'old' wiring scheme would ever be shocked, or shocked enough to 'matter', is far and few in-between... you also mention that you didn't want to be shocked with '250 volts' of electricity - your statement is another misleading comment: if either of the HOT wires broke/came loose/touched the chassis, AND the Neutral was also not doing it's job, AT THE SAME TIME and AT THE SAME MOMENT someone 'touched' the chassis, in that very, very unlikely moment, ONLY 120volts would be available, NOT 240/250. Each HOT wire is only 120v. so, no, no one will 'die' because of this, and likely, even if the code had NEVER been changed, no one will EVER know the difference, except the wiring companies who produce the now 'needed' upgrade wiring pigtail, and 4-prong Outlets.
those people working for the NEC have to come up with some new code to justify their huge salaries every now and then...
How do you clean this?

Will this work on porcelain countertop/sink?
Hi Carol I haven’t had a chance to try this own porcelain myself 🤔
Hi! This is lovely, I’m a little late to seeing this since you posted so I hope you respond 😅 For cleaning what do you recommend ? I’m a chemical cleaner I used EVERYTHING but for this specifically what products do you use to make the counter top have longevity ? Thank you !
Hello Morgan! We have used all kinds of house hold cleaning supplies from windex to Mr clean. 🧽 we haven’t unfortunately had the chance to figure out which one would be least damaging. So far nothing seemed to have caused more noticeable wear though!
I just painted my vanity and sink with this, love it

Just found you and subscribed. Would you do this with your kitchen counterstops? I need to do 2 bathrooms and my kitchen countertops?
Hello there @Donna-vh4ym! Thank you so much for the subscription! I would definitely do this on the bathroom counters as the look and feel as well as the durability matched what I hoped for. For the kitchen counter top I had seen other videos of people using epoxy material. I didn't choose them for the bathroom because they looked a little more messy in application but the end results on videos looked great. May I suggest you to try maybe the bathroom counters first - one at a time - and see if you would like to apply this for kitchen counter tops? The cool thing about epoxy videos I saw on UA-cam was that people could 'add in' marvel like patterns. So check out some videos for ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=kitchen+coucnter+epoxy these before making the choice. Hope it turns out great for you! One day when my kitchen counters are overdue, will give it a try and report back. :)
@goodenoughdiy // I appreciate your reply. I watched those and they are really cool, but like you...I don't want to mess with the "messiness " of epoxy. I'll do one bathroom first like you suggested. Thanks again!
@@Donna-vh5ym Let us know how it turns out! All the best!
Every lvp flooring instructions tell you to install the flooring UNDER the toilet up to the flange. NoT around it.
Hi Li Walker, absolutely a great point! Agree with you fully anyone who can actually install the flooring under the toilet, they should do it under and not around. For my case I was just not feeling comfortable lifting the toilet for many reasons and tried to give it a shot. So far with caulking around the toilet seat, it seems to be holding up well. Will report back in a few months for any problems or reports.
I love this video. I am looking to do the same thing in my bathroom. How has the sink held up since the update? Does is stain easy? How is cleaning and maintenance?
Hello! so far the sink is holding up very well. No stains that we have seen. Cleaning is mostly the same as pre-painting days; just scrub and clean. I had one spot that peeled off when I got water too soon before it had a chance to cure but after retouching it, it is holding up well. I did caulk around the seams between the water faucet and the sink. Maybe will post a follow up video on how it's looking sometime!
@goodenoughdiy yes, updates please!
@@goodenoughdiydid you caulk before or after painting?
Currently doing this to my bathroom sink ❤ thank you can’t wait to see the finished result!
Not a flush look if you don’t remove the toilet. I did it first but I’m not satisfied so I removed the bowl. You can turn your water off in the main bulb and it has selaed off knob under also and it won’t leak either. That ruller was so hepful but the easy way is draw a circle layout from a carton and you should be fine also of you don’t have that measurement ruler. If you lift a bit that bowl you might tuck in that plank under to look flush and make sure culk it under also.
Hi @HaChi Roku! thank you so much for adding these great tips! I definitely agree that the finished look is not as appealing when not neatly tucked under the toilet. Hopefully these tips can be of help to other people! Thanks for sharing again!
It is a great video. Thank you for sharing. Can this paint be used inside? is it toxic after a full cure?
Hi Andrew, thank you for such a great question. (It just never occurred to me to ask this question myself!)
