I recommend Shadow of the Colossus. I know, a very stereotypical recommendation, but it is... close. It's old and clunky, and the world is pretty empty, but it has that challenge. It's your character and his horse against massive monsters. It's traveling these various vistas, and knowing you're all alone. The game makers never solve why. There's no elaboration on what the colossi are or who made them. But it has a flavor all its own. Also. Worked through all your videos. Keep it up. I can't wait to see more from you.

@@SkyCreativeIndustry - _Princess Tutu_ is an anime where a girl is tasked to save a prince who has escaped out of an old fairy tale book. It feels like the many ballet plays and fairy tales that it borrows and takes inspiration from, and like your video states, shows how stories like it can bring hope.

I love this style! You did a really good job on this video, the paper sections are really unique and I love the use of the whiteboard. I do have to say I disagree with some things mentioned though. I don't think adults necessarily *can't* get as much out of fairytales. To an adult, the fading of the wonder that comes with lack of experience of the world does seem to put a damper on how we consume these things. But, that doesn't make our experience as adults less valuable, or even less magical. We just have to find that wonder ourselves. With a story such as the little prince for example, I hear many more adults speak of it with wonder than children. In some way, it touches our hearts in a place that may have been taken from us as we were growing up. To a child, it may be relatable in a world of confusing adults. To confusing adults, it may be a reminder. I also personally really enjoyed the adaptation, though I admit I definitely agreed with your takeaway on my initial watch. It's hard to appreciate the main plot when put in contrast with the poetic charm and beautiful visuals of the scenes from the original book, especially with such high expectations that come with the love of the classic. The world the little girl lives in is bleak, and it definitely is *really* on the nose with some parts, especially the ending sequence. However, on rewatch, I think there is much more to take from it than meets the eye. It presents another planet, one that affects many of us even more so now than perhaps Antoine de Saint-Exupéry may have felt the need to include. A planet of essentials. Ironically, I think this concept comes through in this video a little. We can fall into the demand for only the "essential" parts of life, or even parts of a story. Every story must have a point, and get to that point quickly. To a modern viewer, Snow White is slow paced and may be a little more difficult to watch. And I don't necessarily disagree with that, at least not entirely. To one person, they are here for a story that tells you something. They want to feel something. They want a meaning to it all, or their time is wasted. To the animators making the film, it was an art piece. A shot in the dark for an uncertain world that hadn't been explored yet. They hand painted each frame in three years of tedious work. They knew it wouldn't be perfect. After all, there was no going back and editing for them. And yet they chose to include each scene not to make a point, but for the passion of creating. I think that's worth it, more worth it than slow scenes created without intent or spirit. It reminds me of the aviator and his first drawing. At first, the adults do not look more closely, and therefore do not understand. With the second drawing, now plainly told the intent, they dismiss it entirely, recommending things that have more use. That have a point. But maybe the point just wasn't the one they were looking for. Also, interestingly enough, many fairytales really don't have much of a point! At least, not a "moral" one. In many fairytales, the hero wins just by lying really well, such as in the story of puss in boots! In Rumplestiltskin, the only morals I can draw from it are either not to lie, as perhaps we see from the father, or don't make deals with magical creatures, which is a much bigger part of the story. So I suppose they just offer general guidance. The son in puss in boots must be satisfied with his lot in life to succeed, and the miller's daughter shouldn't have made a deal she couldn't fulfill. Although, I guess it worked out for her in the end anyway. This is different from modern fairytales of course, but still very interesting to what people considered important. Sometimes what was important was just a good story! Sorry for the long comment, I just find this discussion fascinating! I might as well make my own video if I tried to say everything I wanted to. I promise not to be so wordy on other videos. Keep it up!

Howdy! First off, thank you so much. I really enjoyed reading through your entire comment. And I do think you are right. Something that really caught my eye was what you said in the 2nd to last paragraph. About how fairy tales don't often have or need a point. And I can't agree more. That's exactly why I made this video. My goal largely for this channel is to be able to share my deep love of stories that have had impacts on my life and me as a person. Parts of my video's are made certain ways just so I can't improve my point. Although, I am thinking I don't really need to do that, lol. I didn't read the little Prince for the first time until I was very much so an adult. I took a lot more away from that story because of my added maturity, not in spite of it. I have actually just started writing a script about the show "Bee and Puppycat." And that video is largely focusing around how stories don't necessarily need a point to be successful. Because we never needed to be what the world demands of us. Because sometimes, the simple way, is more than enough. As I said tho, it won't be the next video, but coming up down the line. Lastly, never worry about being to wordy! Feel free to reach out, being wordy is an excellent thing. I hope you have had an excellent weekend, and have a great week!

@@SkyCreativeIndustry Well, it is drawn by Miyazaki, so it's not like movie is "better adaptation". In fact, movie was made when only 1/4th of manga was written, so it has similar start, but story overall is much shorter and different (movie had to conclude when manga was just getting started) Overall it's more thoughtful, honest and detailed exploration of human nature, human role in nature, and (highly related to you video) nihilism and overall idea of "how to process/cope/deal with the fact that humans are making same mistakes and evil acts for entire past history and there's no reason to believe they will stop". Miyazaki's most philosophical, raw and honest work

@@SkyCreativeIndustry Im sorry if this comment gets too long, because I am not capable of shutting up about the Nausicäa manga. I always describe the movie as a „long trailer“ for the manga, because in the movie you get a peak on main concepts of the worlds lore like; the sea of decay, Nausicäas research, the god warrior, the „war“ because of which Kushana even comes the the Valley in the first place ( that’s never being expanded on in the movie, though the involved parties and politics of the war do play a big role in the manga), and so much more. If you decide to read the manga, you’ll notice a lot of scenes ( esp. in the first book* ) will be very much familiar, just in an entirely different context and perspective. In comparison the movie seems a little „rushed“ or compromised, but in the manga you get to explore all of the characters ( many of which are unfortunately entirely cut out of the movie) and their development in depth. Nausicäa couldn’t be made into a movie with the manga finished, because not even Miyazaki could fit all that content in 1,5-2,5 hours. While I love and since childhood have loved the movie, it represents a fraction of the manga when it comes to the storyline. I’ve always wanted the movie to answer questions like WHY the Valley was invaded, and why rhe war isn’t expanded on, and and and. The manga answers those questions ! While some aspects such as the human condition, of course isn’t answered, the key themes that i’ve been burning to know more about have been expanded on enough to satisfy my thirst for lore. The lore is so greatly expanded, the movie represents a fraction of the contents of the first book, and i couldn’t recommend anyone loving the movie enough to PLEASE read the manga !! I could go on and on about how beautifully it is written and drawn, but that you need to experience yourself. I hope you’ll enjoy it! * referring to The bundle consisting of two hardback books, although the original was released over time trough 7 mangas, i chose the box set because its pretty :)

Cool video! I hope you stick to Scrabble and humiliate those siblings of yours in the (very near) future. There are vast resources available online to practice Scrabble, and that's basically all I've been doing for the past few years. You can play it online, you can find anagram games like Aerolith designed specifically for Scrabble. You can even play against bots in Woogles, and you can adjust their level to your preference. When it comes to basic strategy, you should just browse UA-cam. Content creators like Will Anderson, Mack Meller and Josh Sokol are elite players who constantly produce new high quality Scrabble content. Guys like Kenji Matsumoto have produced highly valuable content in the past. There are "cheat sheets" available for Scrabble which list every 2-letter word available, important 3-letter words, Q-without-u words, vowel dump words (like EUOUAE) and consonant dump words (like CRWTH). Often times exchanging tiles is your best option, though. If you have nothing but dreck and you only play 1-2 letters at a time, you're still stuck with mostly bad stuff. This will lead to an inevitable loop of low-scoring turns. Instead, you may want to exchange a bunch of tiles and score 0 that turn, and basically guarantee higher-scoring turns going forwards. You sound like a smart & competitive guy, and I'm sure you'd completely decimate your siblings with a tiny bit of practice. Woogles might help you do that!

The elephants should of rose up against the Lions. The whole circle of life is herbivores eat the grass, the lions violently murder and consume the flesh of the herbivores, and than the lions get the privilege of dying peacefully in old age and becoming the grass for the herbivores. Is this a fair trade for anyone except the lions? Why are the more powerful herbivores (a elephant, hippo or a wildebeast horde will destroy a pride of lions) just accepting this raw deal?

The Hyenas were pushed out because they consumed everything with no regard to balance. The whole "Circle of Life" thing is imperative to the whole story, and Mufasa explains very early on why it is the Lions are respected. It's because they work to maintain the balance of life within the Pridelands. The animals aren't forced to bow to him or his son, they choose to do so, because while they do hunt them, it keeps the animals from becoming overabundant and using all of the available resources, but also keeps the other predators in check in regard to overhunting. It isn't about tyranny as so many people suggest, because they are in charge for a good reason. It is even shown that once the Hyenas take over, they ate everything with abandon until the herds moved on, which resulted in the land itself becoming barren. And Scar wouldn't kill Simba himself, because Scar rarely ever did anything himself. He set pieces up and played everyone from afar. The only reason he killed Mufasa himself was to gloat to him. Scar saw himself as above everyone else, and used the Hyenas voracity and ire to play them to his bidding. Yeah, he had a pretty bad hand in his early life, but he let his resentment and entitlement sway his actions.
