Late March at Alta and Snowbird, Utah
Переглядів 274Рік тому
Last March, after skiing for a couple of days at Powder Mountain, I met up with my cousin to ski some more. The first day at Alta was after a lot of wind and sun so the snow was pretty crunchy. We still were able to find some good areas with soft snow. The second day was another amazing powder day.
All day powder at Powder Mountain, Utah

I went to powder mt for 2 days last march. We had ample fresh snow each day and were able to ski untouched lines until the last run. This resort is a hidden gem that I will be visiting again next year.

Hiking the Carter-Moriah Range and biking back
Переглядів 512 роки тому
Back in July I hiked the Carter Moriah Wildcat Range in the white mountains. The first day was short enough but the second day was long and I managed to hit 6 peaks over the whole weekend. I left my bike at the Pinkham notch center and rode the 10 miles downhill to the car.

Skiing Hillman's Highway, April 2022
Переглядів 1,4 тис.2 роки тому
I joined an AMC group to ski Hillman's Highway, on the east side of Mt. Washington (April 9th 2022). This area is absolutely stunning. There was snow about two thirds of the way down the Tuckerman Ravine Trail and a little fresh snow over ice on Hillman's.

Stowe Vermont: Skiing Goat, then the woods next to it, then climbing out of a creek bed
Переглядів 8 тис.3 роки тому
Back in February we had some really good snow days at Stowe in VT. I filmed myself skiing down Goat, then turning in to the woods next to it, then some more glades further down. Then, I ended up along a creek and had to climb out like 30 feet, but the snow was so deep that it took a while. This was all one run.
Early Spring skiing on Tuckerman Ravine - GoPro 9
Переглядів 2,9 тис.3 роки тому
In the last weekend of March my cousin Will and I skied Tuckerman Ravine. It was a great way end our winter after discovering skiing in the backcountry. The weather was great and the snow was soft. Really not more I could have hoped for.
Skiing the Mt. Moosilauke Carriage Road - GoPro HERO9
Переглядів 2,4 тис.3 роки тому
Earlier this month my cousin Will and I skied the Mt. Moosilauke Carriage Road. Give that it had the word road in it I expected a wide path but it was in fact super narrow and steep at times. The hike up was lovely in the snow and the skiing down was a lot of fun too.
Skiing the Thunderbolt Trail on Mt. Greylock - GoPro HERO9
Переглядів 4,1 тис.3 роки тому
On February 20th, Will and I hiked up and skied down Mt Greylock. It's about 4 miles round trip. The conditions were excellent despite some ice. At the end I mention that it wasn't worth hiking up to ski down. What I mean is that if you just want to ski, go to a resort. If you love hiking as well, you might like the Thunderbolt Trail. There were a lot of other people hiking/skinning but compare...
Trees, Jumps and Bumps at Mt. Sunapee - GoPro HERO9
Переглядів 1,7 тис.3 роки тому
There has been quite a bit of snow since I was at Sunapee in December, and most of the mountain is open now. The glades were well covered and I managed to hop one of the big jumps. I have a GoPro pole mount now so I was able to get some new angles.

On Sunday December 27, 2020 I met my cousin, Will, to ski at Mt, Sunapee in New Hampshire. There are only a handful of trails open because of the recent rain but there is plenty of man-made snow on those trials.

Is there enough snow to ski yet (this year)?
clickbait pos. There is no goat in this video. welcome to the "don't recommend channel" list
Super cool! I’m adding this to my list of backcountry snowboarding spots.
I’d love to do this this year. Did you hike up the same ski trail?
Nice vid. How do you see the white dots under that snow ?
Awesome video! I'm planning on doing this same exact hike soon for my first climb up Washington. I've been to Eisenhower via Crawford Path and did half of Tuckerman Ravine to the bowl in April. This looks amazing!
Good riding. Only got to ride all the way out to the parking lot once
Did you just post hole the skin track the whole way??? Get some touring gear.
It is a challenging trail. In full disclosure my daughter skies this trail with ease. I raised her and her twin sister on it. No disrespect to this guy but there are some bump skiers who make that trail look effortless.
Those trees are called Goatdive. Not hard to figure out why.
That looks fun! A lot better than our California snow haha
Sweet!
Sweet!
at least you had a set of tracks to follow out.
nice man
yeah. I'd be afraid to do that. it's not like out west where all paths lead to the bottom catchment. so many dead ends there. I remember the Goat (2012, 2014). so dang narrow and usually icy as well!
GREAT VIDEO !
Great video buddy. I'm watching it now in preparation of climbing Mount Washington on this trail in a couple weeks. This is very helpful. Thank you.
Here is a great documentary about the Thunderbolt Trail and some of the early skiers who would enter the yearly downhill race back it he 1930s and 40s. Some great vintage film from those early races. ua-cam.com/video/0jl_WF6hM6c/v-deo.html
nice
Yikes.
I love the blast off glades
Creek skiing. Pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing
I would like to do that someday.
No s in tuckerman ravine
Everyone loves an icy side hill with a mix of bare spots.
Thanks for sharing guys! Very cool ski day. Glad you guys are getting out
Only one run?
The mountains and landscape are so different from NH. I really should do some travel hiking to see other parts of our country. I like the narrow trails through the grass with distant views 2:06 almost reminds me of the Alpine Garden Trail on Mt Washington
They really are different. The trails are mellow out there but the views are amazing!
Awesome hike! I can’t believe that bird are out of that guys hand! New Sub here, looking forward to seeing more videos! Digging the music! Do you have a source for that? UA-cam audio library is getting old on me for my videos 😂
Thanks! I actually use youtube audio library for all of my music. It takes some searching but there is a lot of stuff I like on there. Check out Patrick Patrikios.
@@kenallen7709 yea that's what I have been using a bit of, I just haven't heard any of those tracks, thanks for the tip!
I’ve climbed mt Washington 9 times on 4 trails. This one is fun. Lion’s head trail is a work out
I'll have to try that one. This side is a shorter drive for me.
@@kenallen7709 im the crazy guy. i drive from south east CT there. about 4.5 hours to get there, then hike it then drive back home same day. its a long day for me.
This was a pretty epic hike. Nice job fitting it all into 4 minutes. And brilliant idea with the bike! I've only done some of these peaks during day hikes...Moriah looks interesting
Thanks! Lots of great peaks in this ridge! I would definitely recommend using a bike to make it a one way hike.
Beautiful clear day. Nice smooth shots with the action cam. I haven't been on the slopes in a few years and it made me miss the feeling you get when you're cruising fast and accelerating.
Thanks! I use a Gopro Hero 9. The stabilization is amazing!
Ken! I really like how you film your hiking trips. Will there be any hiking videos from this summer? Having hiked this loop every weekend since early August, I was quite familiar with every part of this video. Very cool! Can't wait for it to turn slightly frosty like this late fall day.
I'm actually working on a couple shorter ones from this summer. Thanks for watching! It's a great loop!
Tough skining.Almost got run over by a giant ice block in the early 70s in April. Good video.
Yikes! Glad you made it. I was a little worried about sliding down while hiking up Hillman's
Glad you enjoyed! I was on the trail crew that re-cut and re-graded the Carriage Road in 1994 under the leadership of the legendary Put Blodgett. What an experience. Time to give it a run with my son now that he’s getting old enough.
Thanks for the work!
Sick!
Is the right gully black diamond grade?
It's steeper than most double diamonds I've skied.
Great footage..Challenging terrain.. Thanks for the production .A true, real adventure.I would be concerned about s desd end and hikinv out.
Could a young beginner do it. Say an in shape 32 year old?
It's long enough but there aren't any super sketchy parts. The trail is always easy to follow too. If the weather looks decent give it a shot!
nice job.that vid made me hungry think ill take a hike 2 the fridge, lol.
how long did it take you to skin/hike up?
A little of 3 and a half hours. We stopped below the tree line. It's a pretty long hike but pretty mellow for the whites.
What time did you start the hike and how long did it take to complete?
I started at around 9am and finished a littler after 4. So around 7.5 hours.
Hi ken

Very cool! I would have never thought of Greylock for skiing, I'll have to check it out next time I'm on the East Coast! Definitely great to have a nice touring setup 😀
