    I support Stock, and completely reject the evidence-free claim of sex-independent "genders" being a meaningful (or even coherent) catagory. (And of course I support equal rights for the sexes, like everyone else). But feminism isn't the solution, here; Feminism is what CREATED, and served as MODEL for the harmful, authoritrian victim-cult of "gender" ideology. Modern "gender" ideology was born and nurtured in feminist academia, on a foundation of the same feminst texts and principles as ALL factions of feminism, in pursuit of feminist goals ("smashing the patriarchy", "fighting gender oppression", "opposing/subverting traditional, patriarchal, white supremacist western r@pe culture", etc), under a primary architect (Judith Butler) who's a vehement feminist, generally respected in feminist academia. It doesn't matter that BOTH radfems, and pro-trans liberal feminists each accuse the other of "not being REAL feminist", and of "REALLY being on the side of the Patriarchy!!" What matters is, that all of "gender" ideology's worst, most foundational aspects exist BECAUSE "gender" ideology is a sub-group, of feminism (which itself, is a sub-group of the equally harmful, broader ideology of , "identity-politics", which is really what's ULTIMATELY to blame, here...) "Gender" ideology's reliance on leveraging it's own "victim" status, it's reflexive dismissal of ALL criticism, with empty ad hominems about "hateful bigotry", and "transphobia". Believers' cultish, unquestioning faith that THEY are the righteous crusaders for "equality" and "justice", while any critic CAN ONLY EVER be motivated by a cartoonish, villainous opposition to equal rights (no matter how much the critics demonstrate this false). The reflexive tendency to try to silence, censor and "deplatform" any critics, any way possible. The belief that it's justified to smear any critics, with the worst, most bad-faith accusations you think you can get away- Any critics are hateful bigots, they're "fascists" and "nahtzees", and "far right". They're racist white supremacists, who support raape and pdf filia. The pseudo-religious zealotry, and belief in their own status as righteous crusdaers for justice, which makes ALL the above seem acceptable, to the believer; These are ALL traits and tendencies that "gender" ideology borrowed from feminism. Not that women shouldn't have the right to advocate for themselves; Of course they should and do have that right. But as we see with "gender" ideology, and other variants of identity-politics, it's when advocacy over specific, valid issues, transforms into a narrative of universal "oppression" (which turns everyone else into "oppressors"), that you get this weird obsession with self-victimization, and an unquestionable, pseudo-religious zealotry, which is where things get cancerous...

    So Rebecca Tuvel is afraid of the future, but doesn't see self identification as a problem. She needs to think a bit harder and make the connections. The fact that men have been allowed to be classed as women is the root of the problem. Everything else follows. When it stops and is reversed is the point we have a chance. Otherwise, it is the end.

    Support for sex change by the authorities in Europe is a purely political matter and because the policy of authority is always a matter of hegemony, we must think about how the authority that supports the transformation of boys into females or vice versa serves hegemony at a time when it appears to be support for freedom.. And because it appears to be support for freedom, the left that supports feminism found itself supporting sex change because the division between masculinity and femininity is a (cultural) issue and not a (natural) one, while the right considers that the nature of Islam is (Violence) A Muslim cannot be a transgender and convert to (peace) because Islamic violence is (natural) and not (cultural) and the right accuses the left of being anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian, but Israel supports homosexuality and transgenderism like the left and not like the right, and the right supports Israelis and so on.

    I was used as a breeding sow + punching bag for my transwoman partner for 10 years. It was BAD and I literally would not tolerate anyone telling me it was domestic abuse because I was being such a loyal cis ally. He wouldn't let me refuse intercrse bc it made him "dysphoric" I'm out and safe now, but I will be living with all the consequences of that male violence for LIFE. Gender identity ideology makes it impossible to analyze male violence When Rebecca says gender ideology has "never hurt anyone", I wish to invite her over to see my scars and home full of traumatized children

    The irony of Stock’s situation is that the trans ‘debate’ (to the extent there is one among academic philosophers over the age of, say, 45, who have no experience or interest in ‘gender’ issues) is idiotically simple and mundane that it’s basically an after-thought to refute it. It’s not intellectually interesting or difficult enough for academic philosophers to waste time debunking such nonsense. It’s like trying to debunk Creationism in the 21st Century, or astrology. And yet, here we are. And the rest of Anglo-American analytic philosophy learned what happens if you speak common sense to the rainbow mafia. So they just shut up and keep their heads down. The braver ones refuse to indulge in pronouns - lots of lawsuits involving philosophy teachers. Good for them. Stock could not have imagined her life would revolve around such a stupid issue. But she’s the voice of reason we need.

    I will tell you what I think makes you a woman. A girl is the person who has the least power in society. She gets told that boys can get away with anything, because “boys will be boys”. She is the type of person most targeted by predators, because she is the weakest. Accordingly, I think that a woman is someone who was once a girl.

    • @joge2468
      @joge2468 2 місяці тому

      The conversation took a turn toward the hypothetical for clarity on Stock’s argument. Tuvel was trying to understand if Stock was arguing from a position of pure harm reduction, ie would Stock maintain her stance if we could identify what makes males more aggressive and fix it. So, would she be okay with trans ‘women’ in women’s prisons if you could guarantee no sexual predation, violence, etc.? If not, why not? Stock was arguing, I think, that the mere sight of non-passing trans women would be enough to disturb female inmates. Tuvel counters with the example of male prison guards. Finally, Stock exits the philosophical part of her argument by stating: The question is about today, not some hypothetical future where men’s aggression is successfully controlled.

We have the example of communist countries in which people didn’t just lose their jobs - they lost their lives or were placed in concentration camps. Universities in the west seem to have been overtaken by the left and we should not be surprised at the lack of tolerance for diverse views. Ironic, no? As they say, power corrupts.

      Which is why this has been tried as a 'cure' for paedophilia. I know that sexuality can be problematic for people (those with illegal or not socially accepted attractions), incels etc. And for pretty much everyone developmentally going through puberty for instance. So it can be a long term issue for a very few and a short term period for many. Taking these extreme body modifications seems like an extreme response when there are less invasive methods. And as for knocking down societal structures to accommodate this also seems extreme. 🤔
