    I suggest you are way off on your estimate of rainfall... I think the avg is about 55 inchs a year now.... it's a lot drier than I thought it would be. The mountains behind the town take most of it.

      @@judithernadi7011 if you want to sell real estate you might as well use a lower number than you are. If you check the last ten years the highest was about 74 inc. with the avg being around 50-60inches. I grew up on the rock (Victoria) and was always told Campbell River was really wet... turns out after 9 yrs here.. not nearly as much as we thought it would be.

      Thank you for your comment! Yes, there are specific restrictions for foreign buyers looking to purchase residential properties within Campbell River. These restrictions extend over a significant area, including territories towards Gold River and Strathcona Park, as well as Area D, which is south of Jubilee Parkway up to Oyster River. However, there are locations where the foreign buyer ban does not apply. For instance, properties on Quadra or Cortes Island are exempt from these restrictions. Similarly, Area C of the Comox Valley Regional District (including Black Creek, Saratoga Beach, and Merville) is open for foreign purchases, whereas Area B, which covers the east side of the old island highway including Coleman Road and some adjacent areas, falls under the ban. It's important to note that the restrictions mainly apply to finished single-family dwellings. Foreign buyers can still purchase and reside in apartment buildings or vacant lots where they can build new properties. Also, buying and rehabilitating an old property that has been condemned or had its occupancy permit revoked seems to be permissible, as restoring it to habitability and obtaining a new occupancy permit would generally be allowed under these rules. I have been working with foreign buyers so for detailed and accurate information on property restrictions and to ensure you make a well-informed decision, please reach out to me, your local realtor. I'm here to assist you with all your real estate needs. My contact info is in my bio. 250.202.8666

    Now let me give you the real pros and cons, from someone who is not interested in selling you a home. She is right about the weather and outdoors/scenery. Loads of sports, hiking, fishing mountains ocean etc. Its an outdoors and sports paradise. And there is a lot of rain, and a little snow. More than she is saying though. Snows 2 or 3 times a year, but rarely stays for more than a few days. And almost never gets below -10 . The isolation and distances to any big city is an isssue for sure. Can be a pro or com for you, depending on the person. Housing is cheaper than the rest of the island, but still more expensive than many places East. The major issues that arent mentioned at all: 1. If you dont have a job lined up, or arent retired or independently wealthy, dont bother. There is absolutely no work at all. Maybe at a fast food place. Its a former forestry and fishing town, with absolutely nothing else. 2. There is a significant visible homeless and drug addicted population. By visible, I mean in the main shopping centre car park, parks, main streets etc. Its shocking and distressing if you arent used to it, and its shocking for such a small.place. 3. There are loads of rednecks, huge trucks everywhere, etc. Lots of unemployed folks on benefits as well . 4. If you get tired of the outdoors, there is nothing to do. I mean NOTHING. I hope you have a good streaming sub, because tbats what you will be doing all winter. Being a young person there sucks, honestly. But those people that arent drug addicted or rednecks , are quite friendly.

      Thank you for sharing your perspective! It's valuable to hear diverse views on living in Campbell River. While challenges like job availability and social issues are indeed important to consider, there's also a positive side worth highlighting. Campbell River offers affordable housing compared to other parts of the island, with recent reports indicating a diverse range of properties and a market that's becoming more accessible for buyers. The natural beauty and outdoor activities you mentioned are definitely major draws. Campbell River's community is also known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which is a big plus for those looking to build a life here. For those considering moving here, it's essential to research and weigh both the pros and cons. It might also be helpful to connect with local residents or realtors who can provide a current view of the job market and community life. Campbell River has its challenges, like any community, but it also offers a unique lifestyle that many find rewarding.

    Hello there. In your last video you mentioned you mention that Campbell River was a small town when in fact it is a city. I have been here for 45 years. In the 80s it was a thriving community but since the mill and mines have closed our city has changed drastically. Our shopping is limited and you will have to travel to Nanaimo for any kind of selection. It is expensive to live here. The housing is very expensive and rentals are unaffordable and limited. The property taxes are high also. Our downtown area was once thriving but now there are not many stores that have survived. We finally just had a shoe store open recently. There is also a problem with homeless people in the downtown and other areas in town. As you mentioned there are problems with travel but that are some of the drawbacks of living on a island. I have traveled to many parts of the world from here with few problems. It just takes some. Planning. I thought it was important to mention the real drawbacks to moving here at this time. I'm hoping that the future will bring some positive changes for my grandchildren and others.

      Hi Valerie! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences about Campbell River. It's valuable to hear from someone who has lived in the area for so long and witnessed its changes. While it's true that Campbell River has grown from a small town to a city, and like many places, it has faced challenges such as economic shifts and housing market pressures, there are still aspects of the city that residents cherish. The recent opening of new stores and the enduring beauty of the island's nature are just a couple of examples. Change is constant, and with engaged community members like you, there's hope for a future that brings improvements for everyone, including your grandchildren. Your insights help paint a fuller picture of life in Campbell River, and I appreciate you taking the time to share them.

      Hi there! Your welcome and thankyou for your reply. I didn't mean to be a negative Nancy but it is important for people to know some of the drawbacks. Yes there have been a couple of new stores over the past year which is great. I realize you are a realistate agent trying to make a living. You seem lovely and I will mention your name to anyone I hear of looking to buy. Keep it real and you will do well and people will appreciate it. Thanks dear❤

    I would like to move from Ontario , is it a good place for hospitality / resort jobs? I have 10 years experience in housekeeping and a small luxury soywax candle business.....what are prices like for room rentals? Is there a bus / transit system in town?

    • @judithernadi7011
      @judithernadi7011 Рік тому

      Hello, there are lots of openings for hospitality jobs especially housekeeping at all the hotels and even bed & breakfasts. Room rentals are about $500-700 depending on the home. There is a bus or transit system in town however we are a small town of 35,000 people and the bus service is reliable but not super frequent. Let me know if you have any other questions. They’re not. The entire Island is buckling under social issues, with drugs/homelessness being rampant. Drug-fuelled violent crime is bad in Campbell River, and the city is little more than a dump. The only advantage it has is that it’s not Nanaimo, as Nanaimo is utterly horrific.
