Great tutorial ... helped me a lot. thanks!
Homie called almost everything the wrong name but this is a damn good tutorial
Such a good video man my racks on its way out right now and this video made things so much easier.
Thanks man this was helpful I have this video saved
What is the purpose of you spraying the head gasket
It's an optional copper spray seal, I personally don't use that.
calling a cat converter a muffler and the driveshaft a halfshaft and the obd2 nonsense lmaoooo
Surely there's a better way
Thanks for the vid ! 🤝🏼
Of course you leave out the most difficult part which is getting the old rack out after everything is unbolted 🤦
Exactly. I'm stuck on that now.
@@jrobertech I ended up taking off both inner ty rod ends and still had to use a little persuasion for it to come out
@@spedward8609 same but I left the right side tie rod, only pulled the driver side
Muchas gracias
How do you know when your power steering rack is going bad
great video. I started my job but it's been raining and that 10mm nut on the steering column has me stuck using hand tools.. gotta get an impact and swivels on it.
Beautiful. Thank you.
Hold your camera still man u gave me a headache 😂
This by far as been the best step by step video on removing this pain in the a** rack! I want to thank you. It's people like you that saves me time and lots of money! UA-cam, you need to pay this man!
I notice on 2 you are not grabbing the torque wrench by the handle would that trow off torque?
No, it won't..as long as he keeps the torque wrench straight. Most torque wrenches are plus or minus 1 lbs anyway.
For removing the diff aside from the 4 bolts and driveshaft do I need to remove anything else? I've gotten mine part way out but it feels like it's hanging on something. I don't want to force it out and damage anything, so figured I'd ask before taking another stab at it. Great video by the way, this was super helpful.
Did you ever get it off? If so HOW?! I've been at it for 2 weeks and can't get it off. I'm going nuts.
@@karenguiceberry I should have edited my original comment. I did eventually get it off, the trick was that the shift cable linkage had a bolt or two that needed to be loosened so it could drop a few centimeters down. That allowed the diff to slide right out. You can see the linkage that needs to be moved at 12:29 (the fluid is draining off of it). I don't recall exactly where the bolt was to loosen it, but it was close by.
Thank you sir. Great help. Appreciate the thorough explanations
Are you sure that green seal goes on the flange? Never ran across that before
Good job this video definitely help me out alot kudos
I did the same thing you did and i cut the pressure line. and i got the same duralast replacement line. My line from autozone came with a oring for the fitting and i put it on. now it leaks from that fitting. Is there supposed to be an oring for that fitting or do i need to tighten the fitting down more?
the bracket you dont put back is for protection of the front diferencial from being hit from anything underneath that can bang it out of place..honda knows what its doing. its there for a reason.
About how long did this job take?
What brand of rack-and-pinion did you get and where did you get it from
I have to change my power steering hose. Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome if you need any other assistance. Just hit me up. I will be posting new videos soon
You have any idea what's the torque for a Nissan cube 1.4 engine?
No
I have the same problem. I live on the Big Island, and have no paved surface to work on just a layer of crushed cinder. It helps if you have some old carpet to lay down. It'l at least give you a better chance of finding dropped nuts and bolts!
What ecu are you running? And are you using s300?
Yes it’s PO8 hondata s300 boost by gear ecu
Thank you, I have to do this on my 99 CRV. Tried to do this from on top, but my arms are way to short!!
You can do it!
brugal built,definetly dominican,lol
of course
Any idea on the labor time for this?
How can I replace the Power Steering Rack Seal Kit for 1st Generation Honda CRV (1997 - 2001 Honda CRV RD1)? There’s excessive play in the steering system. The steering wheel is loose, “has play in it”; ATF is leaking from the steering rack.
I’d change the rack
I have this problem in mine. I checked and had one inner tie rod loose at the ball joint. I was going to just replace the inner and outer tie rods. When I noticed it leaking from the seal behind the inner tie rod. At that point I decided to replace it and return the inner tie rods
How to replace a 97 - 01 Honda CRV Auto Power Steering Assembly Seal. Please kindly share some knowledge on how to carry out this operation.Thank you.
🤢🤢🤢
Hey so I’m changing my rack and pinion and I put everything back together, but I don’t know where to put the oil for the front differential, can you please help.
That I believe is transmission oil, when I opened it I see that it has gears and clips on the trans gears, so most likely just fill the transmission oil from the dipstick or fill plug.
What are you spraying it with?
Permatex cooper spray
how about the other mount on the passanger side
Your video is absolutely the best description and information about the crv, my daughter's crv had been a challenge to get this done but your video saved us thanks for your efforts

my bro a beast 💪 💯
I can’t wait to start my build with you bro
ur doing it wrong lol you supposed to do it in 1 motion lol
4Door Boogie I’ve done it this way for years never had an issue. Guess the ratchet is a good one.
@@mr.velazquez3079 you got that right buddy, some people just want to express their negativity to others. Thanks for the comment and clearing things out for him lol. I’ve been doing our way for countless years and never had an issue. I torque to the spec and redo several times before I move on to the next torque spec.
Where did you get that information? Seems you're just overthinking it, a torque wrench is made with a rachet to do exactly that, especially when you get in a tight space that you can't make a full turn, doing it in one motion only applies to the old school torque wrench with a needle indicator. I have 35 years experience as a mechanic rebuilding engines and not once has this been a problem.
Question is it the same torque for gsr ?
Javii yoo yes as long as you are using OEM head bolts.
Javii yoo feel free to reach out anytime you have any questions
