The first Cats show was indeed 1981 at the london west end. The scene with the pirates is in almost every production, but not in the dvd, cause the actor of Gus was too old for the scene.

In the tour version, they'll substitute "The Pekes and the Pollicles" For "Growltiger's Last Stand," which is about a pirate cat and his crew.

Thx for posting this video of Michael Gruber. He was soooo sexy as Munkustrap in Cats ... can't understand why some people think that opinion that would change bc he's gay :( What a great voice he has and very funny in The Pekes portion of the musical. Cracks me up every time :) I actually messaged him on FB telling him how amazing and talented I thought he was. Whether he got it or not, it was cool to be able to do that. He needs to come to Montreal so I can see him live !!! :)

I saw a lot of videos about Michael Gruber, and I have to say: this is the best one! People think he is just Munkustrap, but he's much more. The song is also a wonderfull choice!
