It’s amazing how sometimes it can be faster to order from the other side of the world. I buy things from South Korea quite often and I’ve had them arrive within 2 days.. meanwhile Royal Mail can hold your package hostage for ages! I also hate getting the fake “shipped” notifications when the seller creates the label. It makes me so frustrated when you get one and then they don’t send until days later because it feels a bit like they’re trying to con you into thinking they’re sending it sooner than they actually do
@@LearningToLinka honestly Argentina to UK in 3 days is mental! My bag is more well travelled than i am! 😂 Yes this def wasn’t RM this time - and i agree - it felt to me like i was being fobbed off by the postage label being created. Its a real shame but its put me off ordering again because the delay was long and it wasn’t the posties fault. I have been missed once by another seller & they were so apologetic and got it sorted asap when i flagged to them. It just left me feeling disappointed when it was my first purchasing experience sadly. I never like to hide from you all - i always want to be upfront and honest xx
Ooooo is it Snow White and the huntsman? Or Snow White and the prince? The cloak made me think of a woodcutter/huntsman type figure and that might be the why he has a bag as well
Oh where are you planning on parking? I usually drive to Kew so the notice of no parking at Brentford gate has really thrown me! Was thinking of taking train now. But hopefully see you in person Tuesday!
@@irene10991 there are some carparks down the bottom - means its about a 30 mins walk away near Richmond athletic stadium Honestly its thrown me soo bad too - i like parking in the Kew one and i know where i am - i don’t like the change but i can’t face the train instead xx
@@ShellstarStitches ugh I know! I really don’t like the train option but also don’t fancy walking that far to car in the evening 🙈 I wonder if the car park situation is because they’ve booked it out for the fee paying attendees for the light show which technically we are also!
@ not sure to be honest but i think a few of us will be walking down together or the 65 bus apparently runs super regularly and can take us down that way. I have to say i’m a bit anxious about it now xx
@@ShellstarStitches aww don’t be. If there’s people parking there also they’ll be plenty of people walking back. Bonus - you get to know another parking spot near Kew if the parking situation arises again 👍🏼 xx
@ yeah i just hate things out of my control and it makes me uneasy. I’ve got so used to knowing where i’m going! This is true and aiming to meet my friend at the same place so we will be walking there and back together xx
Mmmmm I don’t think it is Hansel & Gretal now as there is a story about the sun and the moon 😉. Beautiful yarns today from both advents 💖🎄💜 xx
@@sharonsutcliffe who knows what it is now - i’m so confused 😂. Thank you - they are both stunning - honestly loving both these advents! Xx
Lovely yarns and the Toft spinner will look beautiful 🤩 xx
You can see the silver sparkle so well in this video (just after you take it out of the bag). First time I’ve properly seen how blingy it is!
@@LearningToLinka oh thats fab! Honestly they are so blingy and i don’t know why my camera is not picking it up. It might be that i’m using the front camera rather than the back one xx
If I ever get a calendar I would definitely get Woolly Mamas 😻🎄 x
@@sharonsutcliffe honestly every year i love it and never disappointed. Kassie does such a fab job with it! They go on sale about April time if i remember rightly and you can do pay in 4. Xxx
I'm not liking all these decorations I'd rather have something to add to my stash like beads or more stitch markers, better quality crochet hooks anything really I don't appreciate the extra cost for tree decorations at all sadly 😢
@@yasmingeorge5173 aww thats a shame - i quite like having something different. But be intrigued to see how many of them we get / if anymore. I suppose they have to try something different and see how its received Are you enjoying the advent otherwise though so far? Xx
Psst you’ve got the title a bit wrong - it’s day 12, not day 1 😉
@@LearningToLinka thank you! Thats the afternoon i’ve had driving me crazy - i forgot the “2” 😂 xxx
If you do your Christmas day ones on Christmas Eve I'll have to shut my eyes. Don't want spoilers for Christmas day😂 I bought the woolly mamma after seeing yours last year.
@@wendydouce1870 ahhh ok i will make sure i do them at the end and warn for you! You can then leave the live early. Who knows - last year i did end up live on xmas day! Ooh sorry for being a bad influence but hope you are enjoying it? Xxx
Beauty woolly mumma colour way.
Lots of beautiful yarn colours in your advents xx
I got the hubby a coffee one to go with his Lego Star Wars one. He forgets to drink the coffees so I end up helping myself to them too 😂
I have a jigsaw advent alongside my yarn advent, and my adult son has a carp fishing advent 😆
@@margaretkillick7006 i had to re read Carp as i misread it! Whats in that - fishing tackle etc? A few of you with jigsaw advents - i must look these up for next year! Xxx
Yes fishing tackle 😂
@ not teeny tiny carp in each day 😂. Hope he is enjoying it! Xx
I love your dolls legs! They did not skip leg day! 😂 I’ve finally caught up with my Toft advent today but no doubt will fall behind again. Loving your advent unboxings x
@@irene10991 haha no they definitely did not! I just prefer them stuffed than floppy 😂 Well done for being up to date - i’m now well behind so i’ll join you when you do again hehe xxx
Both colours are lovely today. I like the idea of a jigsaw advent.🎉
My most unusual one this year is a jigsaw puzzle advent - you make one each day and then glue it so it makes a Christmas decoration. It’s so lovely! I’ve done the jam one on the past which was nice, and I have a friend who gets a cheese advent calendar every year that she absolutely loves
@@LearningToLinka oh wow the jigsaw one sounds amazing! How big will it end up do you think? There must be some really odd calendars out there - they are becoming so popular now xxx
@@ShellstarStitchesthe fun thing about it is they’re all little individual ones and then you glue them so you have 24 Christmas decorations! They’re about 10-15cm each and every one is done by a different artist as well. It’s been a really fun part of advent to have to make them each morning
@ that’s so cool - it sounds like a really fab and unusual calendar, also it makes you sit and stop whilst you do your jigsaw. We all need that at this time of year! Xx
Love your snoopy jumper 😻. Was the woodcutter in Hansel & Gretal? Xx
@@sharonsutcliffe thanks! Its actually got matching trousers too 😝. I honestly have no idea i’m so awful at fairytales! Xxx
Oooo I wonder if it is Hansel & Gretal 🤔. Both yarns are very pretty 🎄 xx
@@sharonsutcliffe as there is no more yarn boxes now it def is a mystery. I’m never very good at guessing - all of you end up helping me with who it might be! Xx
I've made household goods from red heart it's really nice. Washes well too. I got mine from amazon.
@@suzannejones5992 ahhh fab - that’s good to know thank you as with this being a wearable it needs to survive washing if required!
Hi lovely, Did you mean Bluebell rather than Snowdrop for the colour? I've never seen a Snowdrop in anything other than white, but I'm not too good with plants. I'm enjoying all your openings. I'm going to wait until all the Toft patterns are out as last year i got fed up about day 15 ( because i didn't like doing bit's and pieces of each )and I'm just now finishing them. Today or tomorrow they will be completed 😂. Xx
@maryeaston4874 yes i absolutely meant bluebell 😂. Glad you realised! I’m amazed my brain worked at all last night after the work day i had! Ahh thats fair enough. because i don’t “do” wips I’m a bit the same - i just want to crack on and get finished. But i have been making other things in between (little xmas makes) Be interesting to see what else is planned in the advent pattern…there must be more to it coming xxx
Ooo I think the woolly mama yarn is my favourite colour so far 🎄 x
@@sharonsutcliffe Kassie at Woolly Mama excels every year. It’s always a good one and right up my street! Xx
Love your cardigan that is really lovely. Beautiful advent yarns. You can never have enough blankets, you can just rotate them xx
@@sharonsutcliffe thank you - not a made one lol its from New Look 😂 Yes exactly this! Always need plenty of blankets for sure! I only use xmassy ones in December xxx
Watching this to calm down from a panic attack (one of my cats is a bit poorly and it’s making me really anxious) and just want to say how much I’ve enjoyed these live at 5s. It’s like another type of advent calendar to look forward to 💜
@@LearningToLinka i’m so sorry you had a panic attack. I totally understand- i am the same when Jasper our bun gets poorly. Sending you hugs Aww thank you i’m really glad you have enjoyed them and they helped today Xx
I like the fully stuffed limbs too.
@@suzannejones5992 i can’t do floppy limbs 😂
Hi Michelle, I was thinking Hansel & Gretal or The elves and the shoemaker 🤔 xx
@@sharonsutcliffe gosh i had the elves and the shoemaker book! Core memory unlocked right there! Its going to be intriguing this week seeing more come together xxx
I love the beetroot yarn from toft. It's a very beautiful colour. You've stuffed yours, I haven't, should I.
@@suzannejones5992 the beetroot yarn is stunning No i’ve gone rogue because i hate stuffing through the smaller holes so i go rogue and stuff before we are told to! You haven’t gone wrong - i’ve gone off piste! Xx
Gorgeous colours today! I had an advent calendar disappointment this morning - I got an accidental duplicate skein 😔 the etsy store owner was super lovely about it and gave me a 20% discount so I’ve bought her Christmas Day box to open up as an extra treat for myself which means I’ll have 2x100g skeins on Christmas Day now. Thankfully I love the colour I’ve got a duplicate of too
@@LearningToLinka oh no thats such a shame! Are they sending you the “missing” skein still? Christmas fay box sounds lovely! Xx
@@ShellstarStitchessadly I don’t think she is sending it as I’m not sure she had any left. She’s a really small seller and this year was her first year doing an advent box so there have been a couple of teething issues (she wrapped them all in tissue paper which split as she sent it in a bag not a box) - trying to be understanding because clearly she’s still in the learning phase of her business, but it’s also my first time doing a yarnvent so it’s been a bit disappointing too
@ aww thats a shame and its lovely of you to be understanding about it. But definitely give the constructive helpful feedback so she knows for next year and can address it. That way she will ensure she gets repeat customers xxx
@@ShellstarStitchescoming back to this because I wanted to update you after seeing you talk about your bad customer service experience. I took your advice and sent a follow up message asking if she would be ok to put the day that I’m missing in the Christmas box I’ve got ordered, and she was so sweet in her reply and is actually now including a whole selection of mini skeins to make up for the mistake. Thank you for encouraging me to give her that extra nudge!
@ aww i’m glad you spoke to her about it. Discount was nice of her but thats making you spend more money when actually advents can be expensive enough. Wow thats a nice make up if she is including a few mini skeins Its only about asking for what you should have received from outset - i never think there is any harm especially if you are polite which i always am. Just i do love shopping with small businesses and the odd times it has gone wrong they go over and above because they value their reputation and repeat customers I just sometimes find even just some communication would help. Radio silence drives me up the wall more than anything! Xx
Loving the Woolly Mamas yarn so me 🎄 xx
@@sharonsutcliffe every year its so stunning - i am never disappointed xxx
Little Drops of Wonderful posted a recent video about crochet patterns that work well with advents 😀 ua-cam.com/video/rt3DoNbIq7M/v-deo.htmlsi=XXIrhabK6i8lUi4n
I’m contemplating making a version of this with one of my advents annabooshouse.blogspot.com/2016/11/granny-wrap-stylecraft-blog-tour.html?m=1
Your blanket looks amazing 🤩. What a fabulous bag, love it 😻 xx
@@sharonsutcliffe thank you - i am really pleased with both! Xx
Love the Woolly Mamas yarn it’s beautiful 😻 xx
Great vlog I have caved and just purchased a mulberry roll top bag from hide and hammer christmas treat to myself very excited x
@@Michele-sn6et thank you and for watching. Oooh the mulberry colour is stunning! Enjoy it when it arrives! Xx
Hi Michelle, I’d love to know your plans for mini skeins. I’m getting a 14 day one but it has a pattern as I wouldn’t know what to do otherwise 😂 I think toft could be a childhood fable. Maybe Hansel and gretal. I also had those Clark’s shoes 😂 looking forward to day 5!
@@Knitsandkittys honestly… no idea 😂. I have a few advents stored up. I really want to do a jumper or cardigan and i might just manage one with 480g of advent but its almost like i’m too scared to use it snd run out mid project! What was your pattern either yours? Yes i think that might be likely for the Toft make. Omg magic step were THE greatest shoe of my childhood! Xxx
@ yes yarn chicken is stressful and crochet jumpers do use a lot of yarn. I haven’t opened my pattern, I am going to open the yarn first and then end with the pattern as I’m not planning on starting it yet and I would like a Xmas eve surprise. I expect it is a shawl though as it is 12 minis. Little drops of wonderful channel has done a video on patterns to do with mini skeins. They really were the best shoes 🤣 I’m glad someone else remembers them 🤣🙌🏻 I’m enjoying living the toft advent vicariously through you. 😊
@ i hate yarn chicken esp with handdye as its not like you can just order more! I will have a look over the xmas break and see if i can find something suitable Thats a good idea saving your pattern to the end - its always nice to have some sort of surprise at xmas xxx
@ ps glad you are enjoying the Toft via me! 😂
Watching your lives but in evening, I am doing toft too and have yarn advent also, love seeing what you got. Thanks for sharing and taking time to do this 😊
@@louiseroache7965 ahh thank you for coming along to watch in the evenings! Really glad you are enjoying them! Which yarn advent do you have and also which skin tone for Toft did you go for? Xx
@@ShellstarStitchesI went for oatmeal again 😊 and I have the little grey girl advent box, only just got into the hand dyed yarn and now keep seeing so many lovely advents. Also bought a hide and hammer bag after seeing yours and love it I feel I now need other sizes of the bags 😂
@ ahh matching me - we can compare at the end! There are honestly so many indie dyer advents - a lot ten to do up for sale April onwards (so people can split pay). So keep your eyes peeled. Is your little grey girl a daily advent? Oooh which H&H bag did you go for? Its a really slippery slope and sorry for enabling 😂 xxx
Hi ya. So sorry I can't make the lives. I've just started a new job and I'm working evenings. But I do watch the repeats. I think it's gnomes or hansel and gretel
@@suzannejones5992 no worries or apology necessary. They are there saved to enjoy whenever. I hope your new job is going well so far? Good idea on Hansel & Gretel xx
@ShellstarStitches thank you
Hi Michelle, oooo nice first days advent yarns 😻, love the woolly mama yarn 💖 x
@@sharonsutcliffe they are lovely aren’t they! Enjoying them already… as i always do - pretty shiny, soft squishy 😂 xxx
I'm with you, I wouldn't be happy with the contents of the box for the money I also wouldn't like the chocolate I don't like orange chocolate. the could would send me nuts too, I also to through everything to pick which to buy in a shop and often buy none as they all have a fault 😣 I had a Christmas box a few years ago which was equally disappointing I don't know if I'm unlucky or others are easily pleased but the only one I get now is the Toft advent. 👍
@@yasmingeorge5173 thanks i am glad you understand where i’m coming from. I’m sure someone might thoroughly love it but considering my new bag was only £30 more i just felt disappointed this time. I don’t mind orange choc but i saw is choc covered orange rind so i won’t like that sadly Haha i am the same! If they are all faulty i won’t buy one. I’ve asked before if they had more out back and shop assistants have looked at me weird because i said the ones on the shelves aren’t up to quality. If i am paying for something i don’t want to buy something already damaged. I love my Toft and Woolly Mamas every year - i am never disappointed with either of those each year! Xx
The Knitting Barber is from Finland, whre I’m also from, so I literally yesterday saw them at a show! Strangely they do not have their own webshop.
@@minervan5754 oh wow really?! Thank you for letting me know. The bag is lovely but yes like you say it is strange they don’t have their own online shop. Did they have bags for sale at the show you saw them at? X
Drat I missed your first one of the year and had to watch later (I was sitting in the waiting room of a&e at the time and there was enough people sitting watching things on their phones with no headphones for me to add to the noise) ooh Henny Penny Makes lives local to me, she’s the next town up the coast. Her yarns are gorgeous defo check her out.
@@beckofallcrafts sorry you were at A&E - i hope all ok? Not to worry these will all go under my Lives tab and be saved xx
I love advent! I’ve got the Ricorumi one as someone was selling it cheap unopened on vinted, one which is a jigsaw puzzle that you make each day and you can turn them into Christmas decorations, a tea one and then my yarn one is by a new company called Knit and Pearl Yarn. It’s also 24 days from Christmas to my birthday so I treated myself to The Woolchemist’s Bridgerton themed adventure calendar to open then as well!
@@LearningToLinka oooh those all sound lovely and good work on the advent calendar quantities! Woman after my own heart! X
I found that Toft yarn very hard going and had to restart, which is very unusual for me. It was too grippy on my hooks
@@Tiredmum oh wow really? Is it a toft hook you are using or a different one? X

@@suzannejones5992 thank you! I managed quite a bit last night - finished emerald and need to grab my last peach round (its getting close on the yarn front!) I will have a look at the bobbled after the border i think. I probably will do them but just needed something simple and repetitive the last few nights so jumped ahead. Did you sew on your label? Xx
@ShellstarStitches good idea. I haven't sewn the label yet as I had to knit a hat for a friend. I will see the ends in and do the toft advent then I'll see the label so it's ready for my trip to newcastle after Xmas. It's freezing there, how's it where you are?
@@suzannejones5992 i think i’ll finish the border then sew in my ends for that before doing the surface bobbled. Otherwise that will be too many ends for me! I don’t want to give up right at the end with the ends 😂 The weekend it was awful with strong winds and rain. Today bright sunshine but cold. So very hit and miss. Think north has more issues with residual snow and now potential flooding from the storm Xx
@ShellstarStitches I have a question, not serious, how on earth do you keep yourself from looking in the advent boxes. I'm going crazy. One minute the urge is so strong to look at the contents the next I'm telling myself it will spoil the surprise and I can't do anything because the instructions are by email. Such a good idea but really difficult to cope with, lol.
@ haha i know someone (not naming names) who opens all of hers as soon as it arrives I think for me because i don’t really get presents or i know what i am getting there is no surprise as an adult. So i refrain from opening so i still get some of that excitement / magic of xmas with not knowing what i’m getting. 😂 When i used to get presents from my friends at school for xmas as a teen i used to open them carefully see what they were then re wrap them to open again at xmas 😂 xxx
I love watching your December advent openings. 🤞🏻 one year I hope to get one 😬 x

If you can ever get yourself one they are lovely to have but appreciate especially for this time of year they aren’t the cheapest. I love that so many sellers now let you do instalments which is how i did my Woolly Mama this year from about April xxx
My advent arrived, I'm so excited 🎉❤😊 blankets looking good. Here, in greece, it's the same feeling of wanting to hibernate. Imo, it's not the weather it's the amount of daylight hours. We do get cold but winter is usually only 3 to 5 months and we don't have so much cloud cover. So during the day we can still get some sun.
@@suzannejones5992 yay! Glad yours arrived safely! So its not just a being in the UK thing then! And possibly not seeing the sun for months… i am just struggling even getting up for work and i work from home so its not like its much effort required. I’m not normally a snooze alarm person but i have been this week! Xx
@ShellstarStitches Michelle you have just lost your nan. Grief/death is devastating. I know from experience, I lost my eldest daughter. British society does not allow for the grieving process which can take 18 months or more. There are some very good sites that will help you understand what you are experiencing. If you need to talk, I'm here.
@@suzannejones5992 bless you thank you and i’m so sorry regarding your Daughter. Sending my best to you. I think it’s the british way - just get up and carry on isn’t it. I think this time of year as well it’s always worse. I would normally be thinking what to make her for xmas this year. Looking forward to advent and things to keep me busy xxx
@@ShellstarStitches I know it's difficult there because you are not allowed to be emotional, here what they do is lay a place at the table and have an empty chair at all family gatherings for 1 year. It seems to help greatly. You can make flowers and take them to her grave. You are part of her so you will always have her with you. Love, strength and happiness to you.
@ i very much like that idea. I will be getting an ornament to put on my tree as i have them all on there at xmas. Its about a 2 hour drive down to where she will be. Its a shame its not local to me to pop round on. Xxx
I’m so looking forward to your vlogmas 🎉
@@minervan5754 thank you so much! It worked well last year so want to try and follow the same this year! As best i can anyway xx
I say "A" Skien
@@jenniferwysockey5276 whereabout are you? We are trying to work out if it’s a regional thing! Although i don’t think we will ever work it out 😂 xx
