lots of trees on this section! getting more comfortable with the hiking lifestyle. I still struggled a bit on some of the road/fire trail walking sections. Hit the halfway marker!! For this section of the Bibb the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Leave a comment if you have any questions. Learning to walk and listening to pain are the main themes of this section. Dealing with a heavier than necessary pack and getting the feet accustomed to gravel road walking. Keen to be out on trail after a few years since the last big hike. Leave a comment if you have any questions. CaveMan Short Film

During production I stayed pretty close to the intended script however after a first cut the story didn’t really have any narrative drives. It was suggested that I add a background voice to give the story more direction so I did that. Although I had permission to film them the actors I used were fairly reluctant to participate and it comes off in the film a little especially in the scenes when ...

Nice one Mate! Currently doing some training and preparing to do the track as well. 👍🏼
very good 👍
Did you end up figuring out why your sleeping mats were so wet?
Great video, as always, Aidan!
What was the most unexpected thing you encountered? Awesome video!
Well done. It was very entertaining.
Great video, how do you treat your water?? Just filter or do you chem treat/boil etc?
Just with a sawyer filter that screwed on my drink bottle
Cant believe you busted out of a casual 1000km walk and then straight to the cape to cape. Madness but also totally amazing Aidan.
Brilliant video, Cant wait to watch the rest.
the amount of food you bring always suprises me, love the vid, keep it up
Really enjoyed this, thanks so much for sharing. We're heading there later this year, moving a bit more slowly. The pots you use look great, what are they please?
They are called Vargo BOT 700. But they are only really useful if you intend on both cold soaking and cooking. Also they are a bit $$$
@@escapeaidan thank you, well check them out and see if cheaper good alternatives.
Please please get a bib map. Stay safe.
Only seeing this in 2024 now. Brilliant. Loved it. Thank you.
As you walk it's so obvious the damage to the smaller trees with shallow root systems that have died from the long hot summer we had last year. Some areas almost look like they have experienced recent fires.
When walking I like to get close to a straight line. Most of the time this track hardly comes close to that.
I’ve really enjoyed this video. But I can’t understand how with your obvious experience and knowledge you had shoes that you considered too small. To know you were in pain was hard to watch, I’d want shoes that felt like slippers by the time I started that big boy of a walk 🤣.I get feeling that although you didn’t complain as such for being in a beautiful area of WA that it’s not such a pleasant, pretty walk as such… I’m about to catch up and watch the next vid. Hope the single track is more the go for you.
Thanks for the comment haha yeah they were just the shoes I had at home that I would use for trail running short distances and wanted to use them up fully before I got a new pair! Cheers. I definitely have slippers now that’s for sure 😂
No gaiters, your game mate.
Hey Ayden. Great video. Love your blue hoodie. What brand is it?
Hey! It’s a Macpac Nitro hoody. Polartec Alpha is the fabric your are looking for super light and dries real fast. I think that’s the hoody you mean?
I think your shoes just made it, lucky. How's the feet??
I definitely have my hiker legs after all that. Feet pulled up just fine, luckily
not sure why people would start such a walk far from civilisation with broken shoes ...??? seems a bit dumm if you ask me. but maybe it is so much mor exiting like that.
Haha yes it is a bit dumb but I’d just finished hiking the Bibb track and they had just enough life left to get me through
Good effort. i recently did the Bald Hill hike at albany its amazing and would make some great footage.
I did the trail southbound a few years back in september and it was so windy, like unenjoyable. Rain and beach walking is fine but that strong wind broke me, spoiling an incredible track. Am going to go again but need to somehow plan the unplanable weather. Great video, oh stumbling upon Gracies store mid hike is pretty nice hey. Thank you, Ray.
Yeah the weather certainly plays a big part in the vibe of the trip, I could see how it could be very beautiful given the chance.
I took crocs on the Cape to Cape and didn’t regret it. They made beach walking really easy.
Haha fair my shoes had enough holes in them by that point they were basically sandals?
Well done on another hike! Walking into that wind didn't look fun. I think most ppl do it north to south coz of the wind. Look forward to seeing your pct adventures! You need to come back to W A one day and do the Stirling Ranges down south and the gorges up north (Murchison, Karijini etc)!
I would love to come back and do just that, maybe if I’m not sick of hiking after the pct hahah
@@escapeaidan haha yeah well that's quite possible you'll have had enough by then!
Great series it was obvious how much effort you put in to get the footage. Very enjoyable and one of the best I have seen on the Bib I doubled from northcliffe south and thought I was doing okay. You were on a different level! How many days did it take you?
Hey thanks for the comment 😃 it ended up taking me 25days but it would have been nice to slow down a little at the end.
You are a machine Again thanks for taking the time to make the videos
Great Bibbulmun videos, well done! That creature you saw around the 26min mark was likely a bandicoot, very cool little marsupials. Did you do the canoe crossing at Irwin inlet?
I just walked across the sandbar at the beach which seemed easier
@@escapeaidan I didn't realise there was any option other than canoeing that particular inlet...cool! Hope you made it to the Cape to Cape and had a blast.
Can you show the towns
How many kgs in between water
There is water at each hut so maybe 15-20km between water at the most.
I’m hitting the bibbulumn in a couple days, first time solo ☺️ might see you in the trail. Happy hiking.
Congrats! Hope you enjoy! 👍
Well done, cheers for sharing. On reflection is there anything you wouldnt have taken, or things you missed taking?
There are plenty of things that I didn’t need like the camp shoes and extra insoles but they were a nice luxury. I should have brought a pack liner or rain cover as there was more rain than I expected.
Be interesting to hear how heavy a load you were lugging
Yeah I wish I weighed it at the start but didn’t get a chance.
Wooo! You made it.
As someone who was diagnosed before I could remember, I have never felt more greatful. Cheers mate!
I wasn't diagnosed until my late 70's good job with videos
Thanks!
magnesium good for cramps
Aidan, great walk, keep those videos going. Thank you.
Australia has such great landscape, we are very lucky!
Big effort champ! We on the southcoast are pulling for you on this epic voyage. Trail angels will be far and few in between the further south you go.
Banger content, really enjoyed the last 5 seconds too
Not as banger as your shorts mate I really enjoy them🦶
this guy is like an anime character 😍😍
Nice, any idea of the weight you got without food and water?
Hey what time of year are you doing this walk? Cool video , thank you. Ray.
Hi Ray, this was in May
Thanks Aidan great video.
Part two just as good as part one, keep it up Aiden :)
Lovely episode man, shots and overall presentation are captivating! 👏👏
wow i have just stumbled upon your channel and this video is totally awesome 🤩
Great footage of the echidna & the rest of the video too 👍
Thanks!
😊
Good video Aidan if you see a Thylacine lets us know. Many Thanks.
Welcome Back! Can't believe you described how bad that smoothie was, but didn't spit it out 😂
I only had the tiniest bit and that was enough to know
