The warning sign saying that CCTV is operating should be taken as an open invitation to take photos and video on the basis that if it is ok for them to do it then it is ok for members of the public to do it. (Although we all know that Photography Is Not A Crime anyway.) 2. I suspect that what the sergeant stopped himself from saying on camera about the sidearm (based on the fact that it would have been a security problem for him to have said it) was that the pistol was likely unloaded (or a dummy) anyway. I doubt that the army would be stupid enough to put a loaded firearm in the control of a cretin like that anyway. The way he deployed that firearm was clearly intended as intimidation and I think that the law in most countries would classify such an action as a threat with a deadly weapon - I suspect a custodial sentence would be the norm for that in your country. 3. I think you might be missing a key bit of context here in regards to filming military bases, and the types of threats those of us on guard have to be aware of, now think for all military bases around the uk the terror attack warning is severe which means an attack is highly likely, you stand out the front of the camp recording us then yes you will get confronted, and unlike the guys in this video we dont use glocks we use rifles, but why would we confront you, whilst you do have a right to film things from a public sidewalk to us it looks suspicious as far as we know you could be recording the front gate to gather information for planning an attack or to video personal entering and exiting camp to attack them later on, theres a whole range of reasons. Now some people might be more diplomatic when they confront others might not be I know I'd probably be more on the blunt side, another thing to remember that soldiers on guard duty CAN USE LETHAL FORCE most people dont realise this but if you threaten their life or somebody else's they can shoot you, look up card Alpha.

As an agent of the owner they can require you to leave for no reason whatsoever. Nothing gives you a “right” to film. There’s just no law against it.
