SCCA regional race . Porsche 928S4 started 10th, ended up 5th best lap time 1:38 with major clutch and brake issues.

I meet up with Randy Pobst after many years since the 2001 Laguna event where i ran against the Blue #5 firebird in my porsche 928. Randy bought this car, gave it some repairs and then sold it to Cory who put our meeting together at a NCRC event at Thunderhill to run in their race group.

Took my son Jack to the track for a Driving event, but they were also having a race day, so i took my car and racing with NASA after not racing with them since 2013. field was a little small with only about 20 BMW M3s . still had a great time.

Thanks... its amazing it has lasted this long. this chassis and engine are now in its 140th race over 16 years.
never happened before. the 928 clutch is pretty bullet proof. i think what happened is that the input shaft has a guide sleeve that is mounted to the chassis with two 10mm bolts im thinking they came apart, and then then shaft would wobble, wich would vibrate the clutch arm, attached to the slave cylinder, which would push the fluid back into the master cylinder and give a low pedal.... thats my guess. ;)

Thanks... yes, having issues with brakes and pumping them up before each turn. so distracting/frustrating. i think its the wheel bearing causing some pad knock back good eye

3000lbs with me in it 450flywheel hp, 996gt3 cup car rear wing, custom fab splitter, standard LSD. its actually run a bunch of low 1:36s at this track on DOTs over the last 10 years.

@@zanick2 ...we shall see...I went to Laguna a month or so ago...but the clutch died on Sunday. In replacing the clutch I am rebuilding everything since it is a MAJOR PAIN to remove it all....putting in a new race diff.....was backordered until this week....should get it in soon...probably try Sears Point next....

Lots of over steer there, hard on the tires and suspension, like a cheese grater I'm sure, lol. What was your fastest lap? Good video!
usually average is around 138 with fastest in the 1:36. these laps were in the 1:40 range which is really slow for this car. was kind of like racing on a damp track.

I’m in the 928 The in car is from a Porsche gt4 cayman 50less Hp Speeds into turn 1 are 155mph Braking is a challenge with dot tires

Mark, have you tried slicks on the red rocket? would they be faster than the DOT Hoosier's your on?
yes, I used the Pirelli WCGT Slicks that were 3 cycle old, and they were better than the hoosiers by about .5 seconds....and then became worse pretty quickly. BUT, I did have a new set for the SCCA Runoffs , which were a BLAST 2 seconds faster!! the car felt like it was on rails.... 6 months later, I was on them again...… in this race on the video. they were only as good as my used hoosiers I practiced and qualified on. no grip at all... very weird. the sizing was odd for the 928 so I had to run a pretty small tire. equivalent to 255s and 285s (normally, I run on 305s and 315s)
Real nice video!! Beautiful scenery! I see you like to see the Horizon over the sea! I hope you realize , with the earths curvature chart if applied to the horizon, you should see curvature!!!! Your vision center line to the horizon would be the highest point of earths' curvature, and applying curvature left and right from your center point so that would mean 1mile left, and 1 mile right would be a drop of 8 inches at the end of each mile from your center line vision!!! Small but then 3 mile to the left and 3 miles to the right, there should be a drop of 72 inches, 6 feet of drop from your horizon center line and so on, as following the earths curvature chart, you should see, even standing at the coastal shore, you should see a significate visual curvature!! So more the horizon you see, the bigger curvature you should see!! Your comment on a vid mentioned that the earth spins at one revolution per day, seems slow, but if look at what the surface speed would be at the equator, it is called "surface miles hour" it would be over 1,000 miles per hour, that is faster than the speed of sound( speed of sound is about 700 miles per hour, changes due to temperature and humidity slightly changes that), pretty fast!!! That is just at the equator, once you travel from the equator to the poles on the globe model, the surface speed is reduces, so all people on this earth are traveling on the earth at different speeds and changes when we travel north to south. Play around with that idea!!! I hope this doesn't not offend , it is not my intention.

Thanks! yeah, I was barely hanging on as my tires seemed to be going away, and he seemed to be finding more of his power.... went deep into 7 on the outside, and figured I could get back around him later..... had a chance, but couldn't pull it off. still a fun race!

zanick2 It’s actually quite easy. You can use your original one as a template, and I just glued it in with silicon.
