The origins of this channel came with a thought. A thought about how one day I will be old and incapable of doing a lot of what I can do today. So I decided to start document things I love to do the most: Flying.
Let me take you along my flights, as we battle unique challenges each day to get home safely and ready to fight another day.

3 Day Trip | A Regional Pilot's Perspective
A POV video on a Regional Airline Pilot's short 3 day trip. Since we are now Atlanta based, we catch a commuting flight from our home town (Austin TX) and fly our way over to base one day early (since the day of the trip starts early morning) and we don't want to miss our report time.
The following morning, we go from the crash-pad to the airport and start our trip. We have some nice overnights like Shreveport LA and Golden Triangle MS.
The nice thing about starting an early trip? You get to go home on the earlier side of a day.

We are going for something a little different here: Meal Prepping 3 of my major meals while traveling for work. In this video, I was currently bulking. The calories shown only added up to about 2200 or so, but I was consuming more food here and there to about 3400 calories for my bulk. It has become very important to me to be able to share with other how I plan on staying fit and healthy in a j...

In this new approach to a video series, I am taking you with me on what a trip looks like as a commuting regional airline pilot, while trying to maintain physical health/fitness. I am aware that some workouts don't have the best of form/timings, however, I am still learning proper ways of exercising without a coach. DISCLAIMER: Workouts are not my own and are followed by a program. Footage of a...
Work-week of a Regional Pilot | CRJ 700/900 | NYC Base

I show you guys what a normal work week looks like for a regional pilot. This Work-week spanned over 4 days with an extra day in the beginning for my commute (which I can mostly avoid and commute in the day of If I'm on Long Call Reserve (LCR). There was an overnight I enjoyed very much, which was the one in Montreal. I was planning on exploring a bit in Pittsburgh, PA. but some rain came in an...

Have you been stuck in a rut with your flying? Can't get a good streak of flights going and you keep having to repeat the last lesson to make sure you haven't forgotten anything? Here are 3 ways you can stay on-top of your game! All three methods have helped me personally and I wouldn't be recommending them if they didn't. Choose the one that best fits you and incorporate it in your flight stud...

I have an update for you guys: I've moved on to the airlines! at least, in my professional career. Here I explain my journey through getting qualified to becoming an ATP CL-65 rated pilot. I omit to mention at the end that there is still an OE flight in the real aircraft, however, the wait times for these are really long, and still haven't gotten to do mine due to a shortage of instructors. Hop...
Lessons Learned | Cessna 182 | Exporting a Plane

We are joining Brandon Gardner today in his trip from Florida to London in the UK. He was contracted to export a Cessna 182 overseas, and with very careful planning, he began his journey and kept us all in the loop of his progress. He then encountered something that made him stop the trip. Brandon and I both agreed that this could be a valuable lesson for everyone else to learn from in order to...

Unfortunately, all great things come to an end. This is not my last video, but is my last flight in the Piper Meridian M500. Meet Nick Stoker, my replacement for all Meridian and Cirrus pilot services. If you see him around, make sure to say hi! I will be seeing you guys again soon with some more aviation content, but flying under a different title of the good ol' CFRs. Flight is from ORL to VR...

you thinking about making more vids?
Great video. Very educational on the G6 in IFR.Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Always dreamed of being a pilot, getting very very close to checkride prep for my PPL with 65 hrs and I do want to end up at Endeavor someday.
32:55 clearly said downwind. You misheard smh
So, there wasn't any context on this. There was another radio we were monitoring that that wasn't in the audio channel of the gopro. There was a woman that said something about a departure crosswind with confused us. That's why we said "what did she mean by that". I can vaguely remember what she said it was so long ago, but I do remember being confused about it, and it wasn't towards the guy on the downwind.
Biggest take away here is how much sushi you can eat yeehaw
That's all this was. A facade to show how much I can eat 😆
I had to watch this video again, I hope your doing well my friend.... happy flying in the airlines !!! Be blessed
Thank you 🙏 I'm enjoying the regionals, that's for sure. :)
@@FlyByGarrett great to hear....
Love watching these videos. Trying to get into a flight school now to start my career
That's awesome! Stay true to your course, and study hard! It's all worth it.
@@FlyByGarrett it’s going to be a challenge that’s for sure
Fly by Garret!?!? Is that like Fly by wire?
You know I'm not THAT clever 😅
bro is living my dream life 👨✈
You better be working towards it man! I'm rooting for you!
@FlyByGarrett I already started! Don't worry I am on my way ! Thanks 😊 🫂 this means a lot to me!!!

TRI that’s home! I’ve made that TRI to ATL flight countless times
Regionals have 3 day trips now! That's awesome. I could only ever get 4 days, or 2 day back to backs
Good vid actually. Concise, no unnecessary gobblity-gook and actually informative. Very smart you pack as much chow as you can......especially on a Regional's Right Seat salary. And actually, even in the bigs one would be smart to do the same. If you had to guess, how many of your compatriots practice the same by bring chow along? Keep pounding away.......with your dedication you'll be in the Majors before you know it!
Look familiar, have you ever flown into BHM before? I used to work ramp for last year
I've only lying been there once, it was around last winter.
So it was four days right? Day one was a commute on WN and a hotel stay on your dime? How many days off before the next trip? Was this trip over a weekend or did you have to commute on a weekend? How long was your rest at each hotel? Cool vids, man.
The actual work trip was 3 days. First day was getting into position. So yeah, for the video it was total 4 days. But my assignment was 3 🙂
@@FlyByGarrett glad you got into position. So cool.
Are you ATL based now?
Yup!
Ah brother, being an influencer isn’t the way. Enjoy the career, be a good FO, and don’t cheapen the job to this.
I don't think you understand what being an influencer means, cause this video certainly ain't influencer-esque.
Somehow soothing to watch this video while sitting on the seemingly endless wait for a regional class date. Can't wait to start.
Excellent editing! I'll see you on the regionals soon
Lots of video of the floor. Safe flying.
I'll do better on the next one. I don't like being obvious with recording around people.
Great video I’m in flight school trying to get my cfii one day hope to be a airplane pilot
I’m a little over 60. When I was a kid and you flew these routes, you would have been a pilot for both Southern Airlines and Piedmont Airlines.
"ReRgional Airlines"? 🤔
Sloppy on my part
@@FlyByGarrett if you do end up editing it later, you also spelled "catch" with 3 Cs near the end of the vid, when you talk about your flight home.👍
Hey Garrett are you ATL based with SKW? Would it be possible to dm you?
Hey man. Yeah, ATL based but not with SKW. I'm with the OTHER guys lol Dm me @flybygarrett on Instagram if you like 👍
Do u have 2 homes?
I do not. That second place at the commute was a crash-pad owned by another Delta pilot. He rents out rooms for flight crews.
@@FlyByGarrett nice! I’m not a pilot but enjoy this kind of content. I’m from Austin as well!
Could you land the 737 if need be?
Could definitely bring that plane down to 30 feet without a problem on runway, but since it's a different weight, view, and control feel, I would most likely damage the airframe upon the actual touch down (I'm imagining it would be a hard landing) at least that's how I'd imagine it would go.
Such a nice vid!
Appreciate it!
Hahaha 😅 Made me laugh!! Yes, 7 wheels I see. That tiny wheel attached to the cabin door is too cute!!!
Thank you for sharing your work trip here. I am from the mainline side in our industry and we do love flying.😊
I hope to join you soon at the manlines! But first, I gotta have a good time at the regionals 👍
Nice, Garrett. Come a ways since your C182 checkout at RAC. 😎
I remember that like it was yesterday dude. Good hearing from ya!
@@FlyByGarrett Same here, bro! You're a great pilot. Hope I see you around soon, I'm sure we will.
Oh god you used the hotel room coffee maker...
I'm from Mexico, I've done worse 😆
Made it to Columbus, MS! Hope Sweet Peppers treated you well with some good sandwiches. Lost Pizza is a good place, too!
Lost pizza is next on my list! I just haven't gotten the overnight in a bit. 😅
Love this video. Those po boys in Shreveport look mighty tasty. My only question is how long is a typical Duty day at a regional? Just trying to compare that to a normal work schedule.
I'm looking at my schedule now for next month, it varies per day, bit you're looking at around 8 hours average. I do have a couple of days where I only have a 3 hour duty day and then I'm done. But the maximum is 14 hours, and it can be extended by 2 hours (the pilot can say no to this without penalty).
Appreciate the info! Currently in STEP at a 141, learning as much as I can.
Great Video! ✈❤👍🏻
Very cool video
Another great vid. These are very motivating as a student pilot. Hopefully you can post more of these in the future :)
There was a video I saw (of this style) before I committed to aviation. It was very motivating and inspiring. It helped me push through the rough patches of training. If this helps one person stay motivated, then the video was worth making. Thank you for the kind comment, and I hope to see you in the skies soon!
hey brother, what was your personal path to becoming a commercial pilot? i haven't started yet, and i'd be starting late.. but it's kind of my next big goal.
Hey! It was a very weird path for me. I started training when I graduated HS. But could only fly about 1 to 2 times a week. Took me a year to get my PPL, another year and a half for Instruement. Then I went to College for Aerospace engineering, midway thru that realized I hated it. Still finished tho. Spent my last two semester at college and getting my Commerical plus flying skydivers. Got selected at L3Harris in FL for their Instructor sponsored training. Got that done, Covid happened, Got let go. Found a place that managed people's Cirrus Planes and Meridians (that's where my UA-cam channel starts) and then got hired at the regionals when I got the hours. Overall a ver long 10 years which could have been done in 3 or 4 years.
@@FlyByGarrett I am in the same boat as you where Im in college but tryna be a pilot, how were you able to mitigate much of the cost?
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yo dude if I could ask how long did it take you to get from 0 hours into a seat at the regionals? What did you do?
It took my like 10 years, but I wasted a lot of time and was a career switcher from Aviation, to Engineering and back to aviation. This can be done in 3 or 4 years.
@@FlyByGarrett Thank you!
Can you do more videos like this plase😊.
Working on one for the past few days :)
You got anther video coming out?
Working on one as we speak 👍
I like to to learn how to fly
Does every new pilot goes to endeavor air

More if you count the yoke
I guess I should have added "wheels on the ground"
How? That’s not a steering wheel ☠️
3 wheels 6 tires and 1 what ever you call that little thing😂
🤣 love the technicality
