How do I add an image watermark when using Raw Power as a Photos extension in macOS Sequoia?
RAW Power does not have a watermark function in the extension. It is only in the standalone app. Sorry.
Feedback on the recording (not content) Lots of mouth/lip sounds and breath sounds. Please keep the mic a few inches away, to the side and use wind screen. Some of us out here are weird and cant focus on the content with the slightest distraction. And thank you for your work. subscriber.
Sorry that the recording is distracting. Thanks for the tips.
Is it possible to use xmp sidecar from Lightroom on Nitro Ipad? I've tried that but it seems not working
I want to migrate from Lightroom to Nitro without losing the development parameters
@@roboticienfr Nitro can read some data from Lightroom XMP, but not the editing parameters. That's because Adobe does not document the algorithms they use, or what the parameters mean. For example, in XMP, they will write 'crs:Exposure2012="-1.61"'. So, not just exposure, but the 2012 version of exposure. What is that 2012 algorithm (and what is the older algorithm)? This is true for contrast, highlights, shadows, clarity, etc.
👍🤝🙏
Does Nitro for Mac have the ability to correct perspective distortion for architectural and interior photography? Is there a correction for lens distortion and chromatic aberration? If so, can you provide links to such videos?
The app has a perspective adjustment, yes. There is also lens correction and CA correction. There isn't a video for perspective - it's pretty straightforward. There is a video for Lens Correction for my other app, but it works the same way: ua-cam.com/video/dRMYv6AbXPk/v-deo.html
Can Nitro see the Hidden Album?
3rd party apps used to be able see the hidden album, but that is no longer true. Nitro and other apps cannot view the hidden album.
@@GentlemenCoders I thought that might be the case.
Worth noting if you are using iCloud Photo Library switching secondary libraries to be the system library will result in libraries being merged by iCloud. Proceeds with caution here.
Actually, if you switch the System Photo Library setting, it will turn off iCloud Photos, not automatically merge the two libraries. The following is from Apple's help documentation in Photos: "Important: If you switch to another library, Photos automatically turns off iCloud Photos and Shared Albums. You can turn them on again in the iCloud pane of Photos settings. When you turn on iCloud Photos after designating a new System Photo Library, the photos stored in iCloud are merged with those in the new System Photo Library. After the content from the new System Photo Library is uploaded to iCloud, the libraries can’t be unmerged, so consider carefully before changing your System Photo Library."
I am upgrading my iMac 2015 to an actual one soon, so that I will possibly switch to Nitro. I still use a mix of programs (Lightroom 5, Apple Photos, RawPower, Polarr) on my iMac and iPad. Is it possible to migrate metadatas from Lightroom to Nitro? I am wondering if you are planning to add Frames (just simple rectangle shaped Frames, where you can choose the colour and the width of the borders) to Nitro in the future? That would be a great and well appreciated feature for me.
Yes, borders are planned for a future update!
I was an Apple Aperture user for the extent of its shelf life, I just found Nitro Photo, and absolutely love it!
Another excellent video.
can you delete photos from the hard-drive directly from that viewing window or is there an extra step somewhere? an can you create 'smart' albums while maintaining your existing folder setup or does it do that thing apple does with photos where you have no idea where and how photo files are stored?
You can delete photos directly from that interface. When you are working with Finder folders, the app does not copy or move your images anywhere - they are where you put them. If you are browsing the Photo library, you can also delete from this same viewer interface (the app tells the Photo library to delete the images). The app does not have a smart album feature.
Great app! Do you have any plans to add film noise? It would be great to have this feature, thank you 🙌
Yes, I do have plans for this. I will probably start with a simple noise generator, rather than a full grain simulator.
@@GentlemenCoders Thank you for the quick response! A simple noise generator sounds like a great start. Looking forward to seeing this feature implemented. Keep up the great work!
Hi, thank you for this video. If you have 100 new photos in some folder onSD card that you want to import, do you need to select them by yourself? AdobeLr for example sorts and previews images on SD by dates and allows you to import by dates.
The app does not have that feature. But, Files.app does. So, you can put in the SD card and use Files.app to sort them by date. Then you can select the ones you want.
How about using a NAS or Cloud service? I am particularly interested in using a Synology NAS and Quick Connect to access files remotely.
Yes, the app supports servers and NAS as well, though performance will not be as good as a connected drive. Since I did not address that topic in the video, I have released a new video that included some text about that.
@@GentlemenCoders Thanks! Depending on the NAS and network it can be even fast enough for video editing ;-)
I took photos with Fujifilm and I cannot editing raw files in Raw Power from photos app (I didn’t editing the photo in photos app).
Fujifilm support varies based on OS version and camera model. Please email support@gentlemencoders.com and I can help you further.
Nice flow, always tried to do all in the first run, because running through it multiple times seemed like longer to me. Gotta try that. I am just wondering, you said that your left hand is on the numbers, but my disapproved button is at the 9 and without a number pad that is very uncomfortable to reach.
I have my left hand on the numbers and my right hand on the arrow keys. For reject, I can move my right hand to the reject and then back down. It's not something I can reach without moving my right hand, that's true. Another way is to use the +/- keys which will either promote to 1 star or reject, though that can tie up your right hand. RAW Power does not have an auto-advance feature when rating, though my new app, Nitro Photo does.
The filter options are really great!
This is a nice introduction, I’d like to know if there’s shortcut keys for flagging and rating etc, and any future plans for colour labels? Also, is Nitro Photo ready for mass adoption, I see it’s been out for several months now and I only accidentally came across it. The RAW Power App Store descriptions don’t mention Nitro as an alternative or replacement, if I Google RAW Power and open the official web site link, there’s no mention of Nitro on that page at all, it’s like it’s hidden away. Even this video only has 2k viewers. If it’s ready for prime time then you really need to make it more obvious that it even exists or your hard work is being done a disservice. Thanks
Is there a way to apply noise to an image?
Not yet. It is on the list for the future.
Just to clarify am I able to cull through and edit images locally on my device? Or is it essential to upload everything into iCloud first? I'm really hoping to find an app that isn't going to force me to buy cloud storage I don't really need.
Yes. You can use Nitro two different ways. If you use the Files.app, then you can do everything locally. If you use the Photo Library, then everything is local unless you are using iCloud Photo Library. When using Files.app, ratings and edits are stored in XMP sidecars.
@GentlemenCoders Brilliant that's just what I wanted to know! Thanks.
Hello Nick, while rating/flagging and while using the Apple Pencil, please let us have the possibility to push down and return to the photos mosaic view instead of reject or decrease stars! It’s a smarter way to manage pictures while using a pencil! 👋
I'll have to think about it. I don't know if it's necessarily a better way when using the pencil - more of a preference. If you are not using the rating / flagging gestures when using the pencil, how are you rating / flagging?
@@GentlemenCoders Sometimes with pencil, I deleted a star and I lose the photo from the album, in particular if I’m post processing and I want do leave the picture by scrolling down with the pencil, I won’t be able to unflag or delete stars. I mean like a “flag/reject and rating mode” to switch only when needed for managing pics (see LR or other apps for example!) But this is an idea, thanks for the support and nice app! 🙏
@@iFab7 I think I understand. For now, if the flag / delete is not working well for you, you can turn that off in the app's settings. That does not provide you with the ability to go back to the grid, but at least it will not change the flag or stars.
Am I right thinking there are no camera profiles? So I can't set my RAW files to 'Camera faithful' etc. like Lr? If not will that be coming? I want to love this software but there are a few things missing just now. Lens profiles too. I also find the shadows slider a bit strong as it seems to affect nearly all my tones and not just shadows? Probably me. Hoping to be able to jump the Adobe ship soon but not quite yet.. I will keep an eye on Nitro. 🙂
Camera Profiles aren't supported. They are not documented by camera companies, so I would have to reverse engineer each one. Lens Profiles don't exist, but for most cameras, Apple provides automatic lens correction. For others, there is a lens adjustment that learns from you to build a profile. If you don't like the shadows slider, you might try Levels or Curves.
@@GentlemenCoders thanks. I guess Lightroom uses Adobe camera raw files for the profiles? Not sure. Good point about curves! D’oh! Just didn’t think about that which is daft considering I’m a photoshop pro. I will have another look with my brain switched on this time. Many thanks!
I tried Photomator now: 1. Open the app Photomator: 0,20GB Nitro: 0,10GB 2. Import 400 24mpx photos but edit just 1 photo Photomator: 2,10GB (peak, then 1,20GB) Nitro: 0,25GB I close and open Photomator, with the 400 pics now imported in the last sesion, and I edit 1 with sliders, and it peaks 1,95GB, then 1,19GB... I did the same with Nitro and is was 0,19GB this time. I didn't have any crashes with Nitro or Photomator, both works just fine. I don't like that in Photomator you need to accept an anual subscription in order to get the 7 days trial, Nitro does not do that, when the trial ends it will not charge you anything. I think that's the way it should be. Also Photomator does not save any xmp while i'm editing. So I can edit 100 photos and if the app crashes, the light when out or something... I lost everything. Nitro is always savings xmps. And if I don't like the edit I did, just delete the xmp file and that's it. I'm going to buy Nitro 💖
As a consumer, I don't like trials that force me to subscribe, so I made sure Nitro was completely free to try without a subscription.
Nitro is the perfect for an 8/16GB Mac: 1. Open the app Photoshop: 2,02GB Nitro: 0,10GB 2. Open a 24mpx photo (no edits or zoom) Adobe Camera RAW: 4,08GB Nitro: 0,14GB 3. Edit a 24mpx photo (sliders editing and 100% zoom) Camera RAW: 4,90GB Nitro: 0,26 GB 4. Edit 400 24mpx photos (edited 1 and paste the setting in the rest) Camera RAW: 10,34GB Nitro: 4,61GB* The use of RAM in Nitro is 100% variable. The peak of the last test was 4,61GB, but during the test drops to 2GB and when it's done drops even more. It does not need all the ram all the time. That's a huge advantage! *The only "drawback" is that it took 4 minutes because Nitro saves the 400 xmps at the moment, so when it's done you can close the app without ask you to save, preventing a crash from losing all your edits I did the test on my Macbook Air M2 8GB Sonoma 14.5, with a 7 days trial of Nitro 2024.6 (33) and original Adobe Photoshop 2024 25.4 with Adobe Camera RAW 16.1.1.1733 Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
I'm glad you are having a good experience with the app!
EDIT: I found it watching the video haha. Settings/Double click to Zoom Image There is a way to change the function of clicking in the image? I love that in Raw Power I can zoom 100% with 1 click. Now in Nitro it shows me the image escaled. Can I change that? By the way, both softwares are really cool, way lighter than Lightroom, Camera RAW or Sony Imaging Edge. A must buy for everyone with an 8 or 16GB Mac

Is it possible to import Lightroom Catalogs?
No. Lightroom Catalogs are not supported. Sorry.
@@GentlemenCoders Thanx for your quick response. I like RawPower a lot, but I missed a few functions for retouching. Nitro seems to be a great replacement for Lightroom.
@@p6till8s Thanks. Reading catalogs is tricky. Catalog formats are not documented, which requires some reverse engineering. Further, if the entire catalog was read in, that would require Nitro to implement every feature in Lightroom (and implement them the same way, which may not be the best thing to do!). And if it read Aperture libraries, the same thing is true, but those are also contradictory requirements as they implement similar features differently. In theory, it could read part of the catalog structure and edits, but that would both be a lot of work, and ultimately disappointing to people.
Looking really promising from what I've played with so far in the 7 day trial, not quite there enough for me to use as my go to editor as of yet... hopefully if it keeps growing at the same rate adding features I'll be purchasing soon 👍
Great video.. even better app... iPad app is excellent. Better than Capture One IMHO.. now to overtake LrM..👍
This is a terrific introduction to Nitro. So well made and explained with great clarity. Thank you Nik!
Thank you!
Oh.. and add a Playlist on YT for NITRO please..👌
I just have made three playlists for Nitro.
More iPad tutorials.. through those partnership or contacts I sent... 🙏👍👌
OMG, I've been waiting for years for you guys to make a Lightroom alternative that used the power of RAW Power!! Looks like my Lightroom days are finally limited!!
Thanks Nik. Looking forward to future videos (particularly on Masking) so I can get the most from Nitro.
More to come!
Having used RAW Power for years, I jumped at the chance to purchase Nitro. I have not been disappointed.
Excellent piece of software ❤
Thank you!
Can you duplicate and invert a mask?
No. It's on the list to add in the near future.
So if I want to use this app in finder only mode like I do with Light Room, I would just copy the SD Card content into a folder on the MacOS file system, and then use Nitro to browse through them to do picks and ratings? There's no import required? I only really want final photos in the Photos App for sharing purposes and not all the raws.
Yes, that's right. There is no import step. In fact, you can even leave the images on the SD card if you want, though that will be a lot slower because of the speed of SD cards / readers.
The ratings and edits are stored in XMP sidecars next to the originals, wherever you choose to store those originals.
Thank you so much for easing my fear of leaving Aperture - after seeing the UI and features of Nitro I think I'm finally ready to move on!
This is one awesome app!
How do we set white and black point
There is a slider called Blacks in the Tone Adjustment. There is a Whites slider too, but that is not strictly the white point. There is also Curves and Levels, where you can set the black and white points.
Hi! This app will be available for iPad? Thanks!
Yes. I hope to ship it sometime soon. If you buy it for Mac, you get the iOS / iPad version for free (and vice-versa).
@@GentlemenCoders Thank you! I have only an iPad Pro, excited to try! 👋🙌
So... you can only use flags and ratings if you're using the Photo Library? Are flags and ratings available if you only use the Finder?
Ratings and flags work for both the photo library and the Finder. However, ratings and flags only sync over iCloud if you are using the photo library.
I’ve happily downloaded Nitro and experimented with three of my Raw images (Mac os) and it all seems pretty intuitive, bravo! One small niggle: I was very impressed with the negative Black point adjustment in your “Raw Power 3 shadows” video and I just can’t find it in Nitro please?
Black Point in Nitro is called "Blacks". It has a different range (it's zero based unlike the one in RAW Power, but it basically works the same).
I’ve not seen a Black Point able to go negative before, very useful! 👏👏👏
Will Nitro in file mode point to files on a NAS?
Yes, and the use of XMP sidecars makes that a good workflow. I have not done much tuning for file servers, so I can't speak for performance in that case.
This looks great, will the ipad version be an additional purchase?
The iPad and iPhone versions are included with any purchase of Nitro on Mac (and vice-versa).
