Ayla is a wedding videographer herself, so it's always fun and a little daunting to film the wedding of a fellow creative, but it also means she was very aware of the visual side of her elopement, so everything from the table-scape to the landscape was planned out to give me and the photographer lots to work with when producing our work!

As someone who enjoys movies and filmmaking and figuring out what I think works and doesn't work in the medium, I thought it would be an idea to apply this to wedding videography. This is my, purely subjective, reaction to the work of some videographers who volunteered one of their films for me to critique. UNBEATABLE LIGHT | A Warsaw Palace Wedding Film by Handcraft Pictures

Both videographers and photographers will tell you how we are always seeking the best natural light and it was in great abundance at Katarzyna Łukasz’s wedding. Both around the grounds of the @palacmalawies, where the golden hour light seemed to last for hours, but also in the cathedral, where it shone through the incense in great shafts- I could have spent all day filming the couple in that li...

I thought I would try my hand at Vlogging and if it seems popular I may do some more. This was my second wedding of the year, in a castle in the beautiful Tuscan Hills, so a fun one to Vlog. Let me know in the comments if you would like to see more of this sort of thing! See the teaser film for the wedding I was filming in Italy here: ua-cam.com/video/xlrJiRQSCgQ/v-deo.html
Amazing! Commenting so this video will be seen by more ppl! :D
Thanks so much!
That was a fun watch and seeing what your up to.
@@sky.london thanks Sky, hope editing is going well!
@ I’m staring at it!!! Hoping it gets done. Getting there he he.
Flawless execution, what a stunning light rays in the church too!
@@alexsamk thanks, and yes we were really lucky with the light!
wow.
I absolutely loved this. 👍 So much more interesting then watching the live stream reviews shows that are not that focused. The info and thoughts here was great 😊.
Thanks Sky, yeah I wanted to make sure I had something useful to say before starting it 😂

Another entertaining watch mate! How many weddings do you try to limit yourself to per year, and how long does it take you to edit one of your main films?
@@HarryMcFarlane-o3k thanks! I try and stick to around 15 a year. My turnaround time for films is normally around 12 weeks .
That music is stuck in my head now!!! Fun interesting watch, thanks ☺️
Stunning footage
@@grahamrvalladarez4038 thanks, was a great one to shoot!
Although b&w, it looks really happy. Thank you for showing!
I could watch these videos all day hahaha. Thanks for making the time to create this for us despite how busy you are Toby! :)
@@HarryMcFarlane-o3k haha, thanks for letting me know! I’m a fan of these sort of vlogs from others (even though some might find them dull) so thought I’d make my own 😅
That was a fun watch :)
Thanks Sky, mainly me being tired 😂
It was of some use to me. He he. No, it was a fun watch, enjoyed it. Thanks.
@@sky.london Haha. I have an even longer one to come when I get around to editing it!
@@HandcraftPictures awesome 👍
I still re-watch all your videos, but this one is my favourite. Maybe because its John's Wedding, but it is amazing.
@@grahamrvalladarez4038 thanks for watching! That was a particularly great wedding.
I was waiting for this. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the advice! I really like your style of videos, strive for the same high level (Hi from Russia!).
Hi there and thanks for watching!
Un gran trabajo un saludo desde Perú, tus videos me inspiran... La composición es buenisima y me ayudan mucho a aprender...
Fantastic!
@@recontraplop1 thanks!
I'd also love to hear about what YOU get nervous about on weddings days and how you overcome that. I often worry about the portrait sessions and having enough time to set up cameras for the ceremony and toasts. I'm also stressed if I'm capturing the day properly. If I'm working alone, the stress goes up. When I have a second shooter, I'm a little more calm because I have someone to depend on.
I also had a question regarding what a year at Handcraft Pictures looks like. Roughly how many weddings can you book/edit in a year before you start to go insane? haha And do you know how long it takes you to edit one of your 1-2 minute teasers or 7-9 minute features? Would you ever consider outsourcing parts of the editing process like culling, sound design, colour grading, etc.?
Again, insanely valuable advice here Toby. Cannot thank you enough for the insights into the destination wedding lifestyle you're providing us. If I may ask, destination weddings seem to require so much more planning than that of a local wedding. So what makes it all worth it at the end of the day for you? Do you turn every overseas booking into a mini holiday? I have an interstate wedding coming up soon, and this will be my first time having to rent a car/accommodation for a wedding. Excited and scared! :) P.S. I have that same lamp on the shelf behind you haha!
This was so awesome to watch Toby. I've been thinking about if I want to get into the destination market in the future, so seeing bts like this was seriously invaluable to me. Thank you so much!
Thanks Harry, glad it was useful to you. I plan on doing a few more throughout the year so stay tuned!
@@HandcraftPictures stoked to hear that! Just watched the teaser film for this wedding btw. Awesome work as usual.
@@HarryMcFarlane-o3k ah great, yeah I’ll post it on UA-cam too.
You should definitely do more of these mate! Really enjoyed this and actually liked seeing the BTS+ if you like. Sharing the parts most normally leave out of their BTS🤣 look forward to hopefully seeing more !😎📸
Thanks for watching, I plan on doing some more when I get a chance!
Hi, love the video! It perfectly showcases both the love of the couple with their family and friends and the stunning and picturesque venues. Can I ask what church was the venue for the ceremony? It looks beautiful. 🤩
Thanks for watching! Yes it was the Eglise Saint Micheal
I always over shoot, scared il miss something lovely. 😅 In future vlogs I would love to hear you talk about your camera and framing position choices especially for ceremony and speeches. Thanks enjoyed your vlog .
Yeah I try to resist hitting record at everything I see but I know what you mean! Sure I’ll try and include that next time.
Love these behind the scene clips! It's always interesting to me to see how other filmmakers work. I would love to see a gear breakdown one day. Your style is unique so I would love to see what you bring to a wedding.
I nearly did a gear break down so maybe next time!
How did you get into wedding filmmaking, have you shot something else before?
I studied a bit of film at university, made some short films too then fell into weddings.
Can I know where is this place in castle combe??
It’s called The Manor House
@@HandcraftPictures thank you 🥰
outstanding, so visually beautiful, amazed this doesn't have more views
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Very nice!
This is so amazing. I wish i could make films such as this one. I watched your video about their wedding and i was so moved. I don't have the correct equipment neither am i as experienced but one day i will be.
I would say don’t worry too much about equipment, just gain experience with whatever you have!
Thank you so much@@HandcraftPictures
Very cool, you are awesome guys❤❤❤
Such a beautiful edit. So elegantly done.
Thanks, it was a lengthy edit!
wow, how much footage!
Love this place and your work, can’t wait to see the video!:)
Hey, thanks! Yes it's a stunning venue and was great to spend a few days there.
Fantastic Toby.
Thanks Chris, was a good one!
Wow ❤
This looks so beautiful! Just started a wedding video company, what would be the number one advice you would give us starting out in wedding videography.
I think it would be to ignore the trends and find your own style and don't be scared to be bold with it. There is no template for what a wedding film should be, so try anything!
Nice video!
I do wedding films with my partner in Mexico, we're called FilmSoul, I discovered you from Felix and Martzia's wedding 3 years ago and your films are a big inspiration for us because my partner loves doing static frames, and we do a lot of long format vids like this one. Just wanted to say how pleasing and well crafted your work is, you're a great example that wedding videos don't have to be always moving, frenetic, high energy with hero shots every single frame, love it, great work as always! Grettings from Mexico!
Thanks for the kind words and, yes, I agree, it’s easy to turn a wedding film into a disjointed series of hero shots rather than telling a story of the whole day, which is something I try and avoid! I hope you’re having a successful year!
so beautiful. such beautiful music as well, what was the name of the song
Hi there, I just want to thank you for this beautiful and timeless wedding film ! I have a question though, I suppose you shot with a 20/24mm lens ? If so, how did you manage to keep the angles not distorted ? It is pretty incredible !
From memory I think most of this wedding was shot on a 35mm and an 85mm, hope that helps!
hi what camera do you us i might us one for my mums wedding
Ooo loved that opening shot! Curious, where’d they run off to?
Haha, just down the beach, it just made a cool opener having them running off into the mist together.
cool :D
Thanks!
Wow 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is Epic!!
Thanks!
You are my favorite wedding filmmaker! You don't make videos, you make films! Where do you get your music from?
Thank you! All my music comes from musicbed here: fm.pxf.io/c/3951249/1347628/16252
I love this video, and I really, really like to come back sometimes and watch it again. The music is gorgeous! The shots are beautiful. Wish I can have you on my wedding in Poland in 2026. <3 Amazing job!
