It is not a good place to live, perhaps the highest parts, the downtown is not good at all, criminals and drug addicts everywhere, also the residents are very violent and make a lot of noise with loud music and the police do not act, The schools are bad and unsafe, so I don't know how someone buys or moves to such a bad place, there are better and cheaper places, thank you

Don't move there. It's too dark. There are too many bars. It has lonely vibes.

Somewhat exaggerated; it's not as exciting as this video makes it sound. That's why the Valley had a history of many bars and lots of drinking especially at night because there was nothing else to do. The colors of Bethlehem (aka Bedlam :-) are still as bland as they were when Steel was around. Of course, those who migrated here from Philadelphia (is it open now?) feel at home here because it has only a bit more to do than does Philly. Even those who have made international reputations in a field often stay here although they have plenty of places they would be welcome. Maybe they don't know how to handle a truly exciting place.

I grew up on Greenleaf Street the edge of the West End. A fantastic section of Allentown for walking and observing local architecture. I miss it dearly.

Love the valley

It's actually a rotten neighborhood , filled with very inconsiderate people , maybe a rich persons paradise , but not for the the common reasoning person . People nearly run you over with their bicycles all the time on the side walks here , the crime rates are not being reported correctly they are manufactured to make the place seem safer than it really is . Most people buy here , then end up either failing or simply leaving after a couple of years , many many relators here just waiting like vultures . Mostly though the people are just very inconsiderate , they trespass at entitled will , and the so called authorities here are a joke , they act like this is an HOA neighborhood , when it isn't .

Those on the sidelines are probably waiting for home prices to drop. I don’t see that happening. Might as well buy now as prices keep going up.

I stumbled across this video gem, and began watching all your videos, thank you for the knowledge you share with us.

It is far from a good cost of living for what you get. There also is not many job opportunities in the area unless you want to work in a warehouse, retail or restaurant.

We have friends who live in that development. Very nice and quiet neighborhood with lots of tall trees and nice sized homes for large and small families.

William Allen Class of 2007 here, growing up and hearing anyone lived in West End always drew the immediate question (ohhhh what do your parents do for for a living? 😳) now I find myself living here after years of saving and hard work, very happy.
