This is one incredible monitor. The brochure online lists another model with the same tube as 450 TVL. I think that technically makes it the highest TVL 10" 15khz tube out there . But when turning up the contrast we would lose focus, so I wanted to perform a g1 mod to see if I could gain back some of that focus! I would highly recommend using an oscilloscope. If you're not using an oscilloscope to locate which flyback pin you use, you do not want to use the ground pin, or the pin which connects to the Horizontal Output Transistor. It would be wise to review the service manual of the crt you're looking at to avoid using the Horizontal Output Transistor connected flyback pin as a "test point", because it...

In the end of the day, it's just sad lol * Just buy a new one if you can.
That looks sharper than my 750tvl dot mask jvc
it's very possible they share the same tube. So, if this looks way sharper, then your jvc probably has a lot of hours. Or you could try tuning the focus knob on the flyback.
@ it could be the size aswell given mines a 20inch
@@TheWretchedWorld Ah that makes sense. Yeah 17 inch 750 tvl will theoretically be sharper than 20 inch 750tvl, more lines per inch in the 17"
I never knew you could send the second audio in through the audio out! I always used a splitter. Great video.
@@gameselectronicsrus3909 yep they're just connected inside, so it works! I would recommend external speakers ultimately, but for the time being it's a nice little hack!
Do you need to discharge the set every time you solder to a pin on the flyback?
No
Model? Looks like a white one I have, so may be able to use as a reference.
This was on a JVC C-13110
@rgbmods thanks! Mine is actually an AV-20221
Hey - hope you see this and maybe you can help me. I picked one of these TVs up from work and i thought it would look great in my setup, problem is there was no tv remote. How do you switch from TV setting over to AV? The front controls doesnt have anything that allow you to change the source, or maybe im doing something wrong?
You need a remote, you can find a universal for pretty cheap.
How is it possible the film is so marked and scratched but the tube itself underneath seems fine? Is the anti-glare film very fragile?
I think it's because the opposite, the anti glare film is pretty tough, it's quite thick. So it can get banged up pretty good, and get permament marks on it, but it's thick enough so that once you peel it the glass is totally protected. Think of it like a big thick screen protector. I do think over time, whatever the material they used for the film has a tendency to just look crappy too, I mean that's 20 years worth of dings on the film that it picked up.
Can you replace the anti-glare film with some type of window tint?
Yeah you can actually., if you want to.
Ikegami even made some multiformat 10" monitors. Check out the HTM-1005R & HTM-1050R. G1 mod made a huge difference on this one, makes me want to try it on one of my TVs.
Oh yeah, those actually use the same tube that's in this one! I would love to get my hands on one of those!
Wow! The picture quality of that monitor looks absolutely fantastic. Makes me consider an upgrade from my 600TVL PVM 1354Q 🤔
Oh yeah, these JVC DTV models are absolutely insane! Probably can get the brightest in contrast, while maintaining the most sharpness of any sets I've ever come across! 600 tvl at 14" is an awesome balance too though!
If you can spare the cash :( on top of having a really nice tube it's also Multiformat, so it's very expensive nowadays.
@@rgbmods in the video the results are pretty stellar. I can imagine it looks even better in person. Couple that with the fact that this takes 480p and 1080i 😮… I’ll be checking out your website to see if this one gets listed for sure 😅
I recently bought a g1 kit from you and its been a couple days and it still hasnt shipped. I was wondering if either this is normal since you have to make it. or if i should cancel in the case of you not having stock or for some other reason.
It generally takes a few days to ship, I did send an email to everyone except the person who placed an order on Wednesday, so unless that person was you, you should have received an email with your tracking, but if you did place your order on Wednesday I won't get that out until Monday. I do all of this RGBmods stuff in my spare time, so I really appreciate your patience, thank you. - David.

That's great! I have a 13" Daewoo TV that I will try to RGB mod. It would be cool to have a Disney themed TV to mod.
Have you tried getting ultra widescreen arcade games like Darius and Ninja Warriors running on these via MAME? I don't know the best way to do it but it's been a dream of mine for a while!
What do you mean, like get a game to utilize all three screens, but it's one game? That would take some programming or some setup that I'm not educated about, but it's possible!
@rgbmods Yeah, Taito's The Ninja Warriors, Darius, and Darius II (and a handful of less notable games) had an ultra-wide aspect ratio and originally ran on arcade cabs that had 3 CRTs. I've seen people emulate them on MAME outputting to 3 LCD monitors but I've always wanted to see them running on something like this!
@@TwentySeven1337 I'm sure it's possible but I haven't ever done anything like that! Would love to see it done at some time!
Looks good, RGB modding Orion tubes which i believe this one is my bread and butter. I just bought one and already have RGB Scart connector wired up ready to go
Where do you put the board inside the chassis after connecting it?
You can put it wherever you want.
ngl that looks very impressive.. your probably more tuned into this kind of stuff than i am especially since your modding your CRTs. so i have a question. i used to have a trinitron and all kinds of consoles and games but sold them all many years ago.. and now i play on my pc with retroarch and honestly im impressed by their shaders but was thinking of getting a computer monitor crt... or a crt of some other sort as a 3rd monitor for my setup. if you had a $200-300 budget what would you suggest as a solution for that? i would also be open to using some kind of signal splitter as it has hdmi and displayport outs on my gpu. also kind of what you think generally of using emulation on a crt.. doubt that is too common, especially as part of a computer setup. great monitor! incredibly clear even through the recording.
@@im_cart8656 your best bet is going to be to do a crt emu driver setup. You can find a cheap gpu online for about $10 or try and find one locally. Add it to your current pc, or even build a whole new pc for it. Could probably find one on marketplace for $20, this is old stuff. Then use something like retroarch to emulate, and you can do anything from NES to PS1 no problem, and it will work excellent. Then I would recommend finding a set that uses RGB in and you can run your rgb out of the crt emu driver gpu straight into the monitor. And when I say monitor I mean a 15khz monitor. If you want to play later Gen games like ps2 and later, then you can just emulate right on a pc crt monitor and don't even need anything special.
Very cool. Are you going to put up a video of the processes of RGB modding it?
Hello! Do you ship the board to Brazil?
@@augustusdias4589 yep!
Looks like the same tube as used in the portable Video-8 TV, same pixel pitch.

I think it's awesome you're selling these! Just bought one.
@@HusseinAliRifath thank you so much!
@@rgbmods I received mine thank you so much can't wait to install! I was wondering if you knew what pin G1 is on the KV-20FS100 flyback?
@@HusseinAliRifath Sorry, I just saw this. Emailing might be a better way to get in touch with me. The g1 pin is on the neckboard, you're looking for the most negative voltage pin on the flyback. I don't know what the correct pin on the flyback is; but you would have to test that to see, I did look at the service manual to check which pin on the neckboard the g1 is, and this one has 3 g1 pins. So you would have to isolate each g1 pin, and send a wire to each of them, from the same point on the g1 mod board. pin 6,9, and 13.
@@rgbmods Thanks! I was wondering if it was safe to measure the flyback voltages with a multimeter or do I need more specialized equipment?
@@HusseinAliRifath You'll be fine measuring the output of the G1 Mod board with a multimeter.
is that turtles for mega drive?

Great monitor. The Panasonic MT-M1980 is awesome too, if you can find one. It's the 20" version of this monitor.
I've got a Barco CVS 51, and when I looked up the tube that's in it, the M1980 popped up. Incredible set, I'll have to do a video on it sometime! Would love to have the Panasonic too though!
I’ve been enjoying your videos. Do you have any curved tube (not flat) CRT’s with component or RGB that you would be interested in selling?
Awesome work. I just discovered your channel and instantly subscribed. Great mods and I look forward to seeing more mods.
Really appreciate it!
It is rackmount. So standard 19" rack width.
Would you mind telling me the measurements of these I am curious if this could sit on top of a 13-inch Sony pvm or maybe below it because it weighs so much
Like the other guy said it would fit with a 19/20" style rack mount. 19" wide exactly in the front, rack mount to rack mount.
Nice. I'm after a TMNT CRT myself.
I've got one for sale on the rgbmods.com website, I replaced the tube in it too!
Looks fantastic! I haven’t found a Mickey mouse yet but I’m sure it will happen eventually.
Cool videos. I also have a small collection of small crts. Love to see what the community is doing to get more out of these displays 😊
Hi, thanks, very good explained. What wire gauge did you use for the cables from flyback to pcb and pcb to neckboard? Thanks in advance.
I've been using 18awg for both sides and it works fine. You can buy the board with wires from rgbmods.com if you like.
Hey this is ElBartoME from the shmups forum. I don't suggest connected to random pins on the flyback. The pin on which the HOT is connected to sees peak voltages of up to 1000V. I suggest to always have a look at the schematics first before connecting the PCB to the flyback. If you accidentally connect to the HOT you will fry your PCB and worst case hurt yourself. Otherwise it looks good and basically how I mod my TVs. I designed a small PCB and use that for all my consumer TVs.
Thanks for the feedback ElBartoME! I made this video to further clarify your point. ua-cam.com/video/CYP-vjGBJFU/v-deo.html
Agree that it's ideal to test both ESR and capacitance, but the problem is you need to remove all the caps from the board to do that. That's not practical when there are dozens or hundreds of caps. I would advocate a visual inspection for leaks / bulging and ESR in circuit. You could also use a IR camera after the TV has been on a while to see if there are any hot spots on your boards where there shouldn't be. If you're going to remove all caps, might as well just replace them all while you're at it and not even bother testing them.
PC tube into tv electronics? Is hard mod? Also I see that interlaced mode not works when 2 player mode is active in sonic or so that seems to me. Does it works in 480i or not?
It works just fine in two player mode in sonic, that's just how 2 player mode looks through this emulator. It has nothing to do with the monitor. 480i and 240p work just fine.
agreed if you're working with caps a lot, investing in a decent LCR meter is a must have tool
Thanks for sharing this!!
The camera has auto brightness, does the screen brightness in person remain similar? or does this darken the screen overall with the more focused beams
@@JS-cz3ur the screen is overall the same bright or brighter. Imagine you have an led flashlight where you can focus it, it gets brighter as your focus the beam.
Most straightforward tutorial I’ve been able to find, thanks for making this
Won't this mod prematurely kill your flyback?
Do you think so?
@@WrYSVrZrtr no it doesn't. Google shmups g1 mod and you can read through much more smarter people than me talk about it.
Nice :) I have the same monitor but with minor burnin, not bad but I will have a lookout for a tube that I can swap. I did try to rgb mod mine way back, did get it to work but not 100% so looking forward to your rgb mod of this to see if you do any different. Thanx for sharing.
I actually modded the 17" version of this one in the past, and it''s literally the exact same insides (aside from the yoke and tube) but the only thing I noticed was the rgb lines had to be shielded, or kept far away from anything high voltage in the chassis, because they caused LOTS of interference. Other than that, I believe it was pretty straight forward, but I'll do a better job of documenting this one. Viewsonic q51, e50c, Philips 105S6, Pavillion M50, Dell E551, or E551C, all these tubes should work! It's hard to find one without burn in though!
Love that dot mask.
I agree!!
I used to have a PVM-1954Q, which I think is very similar. Great monitor.
What was the reason for swapping the input board? Also would a input board from a 14M4 or 20M4 be safe to put in a 20M2MD? I want to diagnose my 20M2MD and suspect it may be the input board. Ive lost sync and can only get a stable image in split mode but thats just half the screen as it just splits rgb-a & rgb-b.
Sonic 2 really is such a great game for testing RGB levels! One of my favorites too! Dig the channel man!
Very nice set. Definitely great to still have the original remote as well. It seems like no matter how careful you are if your working on old boards traces will be torn at some point.
Great Video!
