Rebel Moon 2: The Scargiver Review - Epic Battles or Slow-Mo Slog?
Please if you’re going to mention book spoilers, give us a warning please. NOT COOL!!!
I watched them all on HBO. Episode two and three not having a previously on or any kind of recap was an odd choice. The third episode was the best of the three mainly for the Member Berries. The first two were watered down making the nearly unwatchable. The art was decent. Did Very little to capture the style of George Perez however. as a whole in my opinion D+
The watcher is not the Marvel equivalent to the anti monitor they do 2 different things
It's no Under The Red Hood. Definitely not DC's best work. The Spectre appearing right at the end was pointless to me. Missing throughout the entire crisis. I suppose this storyline worked for ushering us into the new DCU..
This whole trilogy was a failure to me! Like how almost every DC animation world was being destroyed one by one, especially the classic wholesome animated Superfriends world. Also Supergirl was killed! This could've ended so much better like all their worlds being restored or perhaps the NEW 52 DCAMU world being restored.
You are right, the show defies logics and for people who read Tolkien or watched the P.Jackson trilogy it is more than idiotic. Just 3 examples : 1) Orcs kill Sauron in the show. God, Sauron was a Maiar (a fallen angel) with godlike powers ! Orcs have been "created" by Morgoth&Sauron by torturing and corrupting Elves. They were completely under Sauron's power and would never think let alone try to kill him. No way they could have killed a half god anyway. Utter non sense. 2) In the show Orcs know that Sauron is in Eregion (when he stopped being goo) and want to kill him. The Elves want to kill Sauron too and Galadriel is in the Orc's camp. So Elves and Orcs have the same target - to kill Sauron who is alone among Elves in Eregion. What would anybody with at functional brain do ? The Orcs and Galadriel agree that Galadriel goes to Eregion and as a commander of the Northern Armies gathers the Elf soldiers there and kills Sauron. The Orcs just make sure that Sauron doesn't escape . Once Sauron is dead the Orcs return to Mordor to their wives and children to live in peace and the Elves go on living in peace in Eregion. Problem solved. However in the show the Orcs attack the Elves !!!!! WTF ? This makes no sense . 3) The time line is completely fuked up. In reality Sauron disguised as Anatar seduced the Elves to make the rings (10 first, 7 second). He then left to Mordor where he created The One . The 3 have been created by the Elves but Sauron didn't know about them. So when Sauron used The One, the Elves knew that they have been betrayed and Sauron knew that there were rings he didn't know about. That's why Sauron lead an Orc army from Mordor to Eregion to get all the rings (10+7+3). The show fails so bad that nothing in the time line makes sense anymore. I could give a few dozens issues in the storyline and in the behaviour of the characters that are contradictory, useless or outright dumb. And btw the show happens in the Second Age and Second Age is all about Numenor and partly about Elves. So Men matter damn much more than Orcs, and Dwarves. Conclusion : If the books are 10, P.Jacksons trilogy is 9 and Rings of Power are 4 (I am really very generous with that 4)
3 years ago and no comments? Well, I will comment. I just watched this movie on Tubi. I actually really enjoyed it.
The non-action solutions to issues was the whole point of the movie, wasn't it? The fact that the bad guy got arrested and not blown up should have made that clear?
Meh, needed more action
@delectableprovisions I liked it. A change from the Jack Reacher types who always has the perfect solution for everything. The way he had a good plan, which failed, back to the drawing board, and again, and again. The way they ended it also works as a message that hard times isn't always you against the whole world, it's often you against a more manageable toxic echo chamber.
Loved both of these movies
No offense. You guys really need to read its history and background beforehand if you want to claim how Sino-Japanese war doesn't make scene in real life. It is known as"Siege of Port Authur" regarded as one of longest and most vicious land battles. In 1904 Port Arthur, the deep-water port and Russian naval base at the tip of the Liaodong Peninsula in Manchuria, had been widely regarded as one of the most strongly fortified positions in the world. However, during the First Sino-Japanese War, General Nogi Maresuke had taken the city from the forces of Qing China in only a few days. The ease of his victory during the previous conflict, and overconfidence by the Japanese General Staff in its ability to overcome improved Russian fortifications, led to a much longer campaign and far greater losses than expected. The author of Golden kamuy spent whole year studying history and Ainu and Russian culture and languages with college professor to make this story.
Both are masterpieces to me i had a great great great time whooooooo
I loved both movies
For me, two perfects movies <3
They are thrash to you. I love both movies.
XD ❤@@MALLYGEEZ1
Both these movies are trash what are you smoking
Your mama, hater
My only issue with the show is that I would have liked to see more consequences from a couple of those parallel words they were in. For example, when Jason was in the world where his wife called the cops on him. It would have been nice to see a nail-biting chase scene with the police. Even a good fight scene where the cop attempts to arrest him Jason fighting back, and both Him and Amanda narrowly escaping in the box. A couple of times, there was some prolonged dialog that I felt was unnecessary, but I'm sure there were probably budget restraints. Overall, it's a really good series regardless 👍
There were military advisors and weapons tacticians on set
The way you dive into the film's visuals, themes, and impact on the sci-fi genre is exactly what fans of classic cinema look for. George Lucas' work truly paved the way for his future successes, and it's great to see his early masterpiece getting the recognition it deserves. Can't wait to hear your insights on this trippy and immersive film! Keep up the excellent work.
I don't think there'll be another season of Dark Matter. There was only one book
They left the door open for another season with plot points left open and seeds planted, and the writer of the book said in another podcast interview that he's open to exploring more of the world in another season - perhaps from a different character who went into the box's point of view.
@Cbricklyne 100% I'm pretty sure the author also has a rough draft of a second book or ideas he liked but scrapped for the original book. Besides, a whole new season with Ryan and Amanda would be pretty cool. I'm assuming the protagonist would possibly be Leighton
Nice
Chat GPT and other next-gen apps have made AI accessible to the general public. I think that's the reason we're hearing about it more lately. This was an amazing series, up there with Foundation and the Expanse for me. Great cast, addictive story, beautiful visuals. I'm not a patient man, so I'll be listening to the audiobooks while I wait for the next season.
I played Fallout 3, 4 and 76 and liked all of them. The show nailed the tone and aesthetic of the game, and it was amazing to see thst world in live action. One thing: Fallout 1 predates Halo, but mech suits and power armor have been staples of sci-fi for decades anyway. It's just badass. 😅 Great discussion as always.
Almost died reading that title
Am I the only one who thinks Basil Barrington sounds like a superhero name
Or a British spy🕵️♂️
It's a documentary 😮
Moore's law :)
I'm glad you two liked it. Honestly, this season 1 is just a prologue. The real story begins in season 2, which will cover mostly Book 2 and Saul is going to be the main character. You'll be shocked and awe because his journey through this mess is going to be unlike anything you have ever seen. It'll make Arrival look like child's play in complexity. There are only 3 canon books in this story. The 4th book is a fanfiction and should not be considered canon.
My issue with the most recent ALIEN movies, Scientist not acting like Scientist. This show has the FLOOD acting like zombies... Unfourtunately the numbers are good, so i'll see you guys for season 3😓
Nothing in this show makes any sense. I am not that deep into the lore but I did play the games and have watched all of the mini series, game trailers, etc. So I am not a “novice” but I am not a “fanboy” either. Even with all of that, I am completely lost in this story. This is more like a high budget fan movie, if the fans only played SOME of the games.
I enjoyed your review. I thought the episode was great. Utterly loved seeing the Spartans be as badass and unafraid without armor as they are with armor.
I need DJ Keo to come in and rant about how this isn't Halo to balance things out. If the show didn't have the Halo title and was branded as a generic sci-fi action space marine show I'd appreciate it better (but would I watch it ?????). C'on, but for the suits; Pablo Schreiber wants to show off his muscles. Good episode though
This episode was freaking dope

'Promo SM'
In the list it has out sold Spiderman and Batman leaving Superman above which it is not that far behind it. It has lots stuff in our world. It has alot Lore in it which Oda the writer told in SBS what they are plus Oda was a guard dog in it..
the time periods is "yes"
WWWWWWW
This is crazy series, yes!!! And even now that it's a thousand episode there are still more crazier things that are still blowing the minds of the old one piece fans
The 'All Blue' is the spot on their planet where north, east, west, and southern waters collide / meet. So, naturally, it's where cooks want to be. Every type of fish can be found there along with the spices you mentioned. It's basically a fisherman's dream spot to fish as well.
You guys are pronouncing the names like as if you only read them and not watch the show lol You have not pronounced one name correctly
The first 2 episodes definitely are NOT hard to get through honestly the first episode hooked a lot of people that didn't know a thing about one piece or anime for that matter
Probably that was the point, when their suspention of disbelief properly kicked in. 🙂
Thats usually dbz mf, because there is no alien monkey screaming for the whole episode.
Try reading the manga. the style is cartoonish, but the manga is a lot more gritty and graphic than the anime. one piece is some of the deepest most human fiction out there. it is truly not a kids show, one piece is quite literally an epic about existentialism, it's about the human experience, a fulfilling life. and it talks about the darkest and most important aspects of being alive. and it does all of this while maintaining that innocent humor from being a kid. its all done tongue in cheek, because part of its message is to try your hardest to keep a part of your inner child alive.
This whole season is not even one of the best arcs. Youll see much crazier arcs
The source material only gets better from here!
I don't know why this video popped up in my feed but I am glad it did. I liked your good honest takes on this show and I could relate to some of your opinions. Its too bad you will never watch the anime now due to how many episodes there are. I started watching this show a long time ago with my children as a way to "relate" with them. If you have kids you know that isn't always so easy. The art style and story seemed goofy but it was good family time. However when I saw the, "Walk to Arlong Park" episode I became crazy hooked on the show. I watched over a thousand episodes with my family but unfortunately now my kids are all off to college. However my wife and I still watch it every week as a "date night" for us. We are getting ready to watch it right now as soon as our food is done cooking. Oops its done. 'Gotta fly.
"This is stuff gen Z is wearing right now." Me: *laughs, knowing that all of the outfits worn are from the manga, either in the story proper or on cover pages, from over 20 years ago*
Same like 🤣 does that mean they inspired from oda? Jk jk
I like how you guys said “get past the first two episodes” and then said “the Buggy episode is what made it interesting” when the second episode *is* the Buggy episode
Yeah my grandma didnt like the buggy episode too, but at the time we finished the show, he likes ut and understand the show
I feel like for them it was hard to get past the 2 episodes but out of all the reactions I've seen alot of people were hooked on episode 1
17:12 That wasn’t him living by a code, that was him making a decision on a whim.
16:48 It’s Mihawk. Pronounced Me-Hawk
12:24 Hatchan. They didn’t cut him because of not having time, they cut him because he’s a six armed octopus man, and that’s pretty hard to do in live action, especially considering how much they had to do reshoots to please Oda. There wasn’t enough budget left for him.
He wasn't really cut, rather they replaced him with regular-looking fishman with 2 arms and shortened the role significantly. But since they've never named him on the series they might came back to octopus fishman later with some inconsistentency.
@@Itoyokofan He was definitely cut. Zoro cut him so badly that he was cut from the show entirely.
Naw. Episodes 3 and 4 were the weakest in the season if you are familiar with the source material. Because Usopp had some heroic moments in the source material that were cut in the live action series. In the live action series, he literally did nothing in those two episodes.
