I demonstrate the difference between sound active and auto modes using the ADJ Ultra Bar 9 and the ADJ WLC-16. I also go over a little of basic DMX programming.

what dmx controller to you use?
Shitty video
Do you still use /have these lights?
Hi there, Losman! Yes I still have and use them.
Thank you for the tutorial! it was super helpful! I'm planning to have some lights in sound active mode for my concerts!
Is it possible to run all your lights in sound activate mode and use a DMX board to turn them off/on? For example: could I have two spider lights on ch 1 or address 001 and 10 moving spot heads on ch 2 or slider 2? I have some UKing lights that do a great job in sound activate mode but they always in up in sim whacky position at the end of a song and then continue to stay on between songs. I have a DMX 512 board but I don’t care to try to control these lights manually because they do such a great job in sound mode. I just wish I could cut them off when I want to and even better cut off certain lights when I want to while leave others on? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Sorry for the delayed response. In general, yes. But you would have to do a couple things first. Have access online or in print, your manuals for your lights. In DMX mode, your lights will have different channel modes. You’ll have to set each light to what channel mode you choose to operate them at. Being you like sound mode, more than likely it’ll be the lesser channel mode. You’ll have to set your lights to a DMX channel, too. One group will work on channel one. Your second group will not be on channel two. More than likely, you can use the rule of 32 where the second group will start at channel 33. Set your lights and then time to go to the DMX controller. That’s where you can use your fader for sound control on each of your groups of lights. You can also use a fader to black out, fade out or dim manually. Your manuals should tell you what fader does what. I hope I explained that ok. Please let me know how that works for you.
@@desmonddoodles Hey!! Thanks. That made sense. New to lighting. Probably hard to generalize but I'm getting from my research and what you said, that sound activated primarily comes from the low end. Looking to have controller next to me at Front of house, so looking for unit with line in sound activated. Thinking about sending the outputs from the mixer board, for the kick drum, the toms, and the bass guitar to a controller for sound activation. Totally interested in your opinion on this, as in vs. sending the entire output of the mixer board to the controller. Also I notice that some sound activator line in just control the chase and not the scenes. Any downside to that, and any recommendations for a man on a budget for a line in sound activated controller (wash lights and moving and spot lights for band members)?? Thanks, and have a good one!! Carl
Nice! Good Job!
