What a really super video. I have watched countless videos of people sailing around in their expensive(very!) skittish plastic bathtubs with god knows how much equipment on board and then I watch this and it shows the real meaning of what sailing is all about. A true blue water boat that glides through the ocean, simplest of equipment and just the pleasure of sailing. Thank you so much for posting!

What a wonderful video. I have ridden the BRP many times and you captured the spirit of that trip perfectly. This is one of my favorite roads in the US. I am new to your channel, but if you can get to Washington State and ride the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) south to San Diego, you will not be disappointed.

Knowing how light you travel, what do you use to put the videos together with? And will we see another book of short stories from these wanderings?

    • @mchurleysr

Thanks, Graham. Aimée does most of the video on her android phone (mine is used for navigation), sends me the video clips by WhatsApp, and I put them together, trim each clip, add transitions between clips, and add music, all on the YouCut video editing app which is available for $4 in the Google Play Store. The map animation of our journey-to-date is done using another app, Travel Boast. All of this is done on my phone, saved to an MP4 file, and uploaded to UA-cam. As for the book, when I finally settle down and put it all in perspective, I intend to write The Leap as a memoir of my travels and the philosophy that inspired them. Thanks for asking!

You've got a long way to go! We love traveling on the bike. We don't ride for ages each day if we can help it. We have been traveling since March 2023 with no plans to stop. Thanks for following us!

Hi Strauss perfectly reproduces the atmosphere of Monarchy Vienna. The waltz is a Viennese genre. But Budapest was already a separate world. The waltz music during the folk dance is particularly disturbing. Maybe you don't know Hungarian music. I recommend the works of Ferenc Erkel, Ferenc Lehár, Imre Kálmán. Liszt is a more serious genre. One of Erkel's iconic works is Palotás. He regularly appears at graduation ceremonies and as the opening dance of elite dance events. This is actually a noble ballroom dance. It has been known since the 17th-18th century. Operetta is a distinctly Vienna-Budapest genre, Imre Kálmán's perhaps the most frequently played work is Csárdáskirálynő (The Queen of the Czardas). Lehár's best-known works are (Víg özvegy) The Merry Widow and A Luxemburg grófja ( The Count of Luxembourg ). He is clearly considered the king of operetta. Brahms is also known internationally. He collected folk motifs and used them in the works of Hungarian Dances. They mainly play the numbers 1 3 5, but there are 22 in total. 10:48 Coat of arms of Great Hungary. This is the coat of arms of the historic Hungary. Its official name is the Central Coat of Arms. In the middle is the small coat of arms. This is the coat of arms of today's Hungary. Under the small coat of arms, from the top right, Croatia, Transylvania, Fiume (Rijeka), Slavonia, Dalmatia. The footage is fine though.

I’m 58 now, and this video spoke to me in a way that no other YT video ever has. Strangely enough, I’m looking at a Nicholson 32 that’s currently for sale in Wales… my soul is ready to take that leap, but realistically, I’m not in a position to make it happen just yet, not without hurting people that don’t deserve to be hurt… it’s going to happen but I need to continue standing at that edge for now.

That's a beautiful gift. However, as a gift, it should bear the correct author's name. After over a decade of research, I've concluded that the real author was the reclusive younger brother of poet John Greenleaf Whittier, named Mathew Franklin Whittier. Poe falsely claimed authorship as a brazen public scam in 1845, when he saw that Mathew had published it in the second edition of "American Review." As a critic for the NY "Evening Mirror," Poe would have seen an advance copy, and managed to scoop it by three days in the paper he worked for. Mathew was not in a position to publicly dispute authorship, and so Poe's false claim stuck.

Wow, your opening words hit the spot. I'm 62, living in London, and have engaged fully in life's hamster wheel and mostly its been good, Ive done a lot of stuff. My two gorgous boys are fine people, my work is done there. My much loved wife died seven years ago, I gave her the best care and feel privileged to have done that. So choice, and opportunity has really opened up to me. Suddenly I no longer have any responsiblities other than to myself. Life has delivered me to the edge, it's quite scarry! Can I take the leap? I'm trying to! There's a 1979 Rival 38 in Kalamata, Greece, that just might be my ticket! I found your words hugely encouraging, Thankyou.

Wonderful, really enjoyed that and the simple ness of the video ,I bought a Nicholson 303 in Spain that had been abandoned for 14 years ,luckily it wasn’t as bad as condition as you would think ,thankfully it had been out of the water and in the sun ,,anyway fixed it up ,having been a boatbuilder in Cowes for 20 years ,and finally started sailing it ,now currently in Melilla Spanish territory within Morocco ,after an adventurous sail from Almeria ,,,looking fwd to more sailing over the next year ,wanting to do the Atlantic but want a bit more experience first,as although I’ve sailed about 1500 miles it has always been with others in command .

Brilliant. Thank u. I turn 60 in two weeks. I’ve been sailing for 10 years. Bought a 1985 31’ Jouet 950 6 years ago and it’s in a slip looking at Logan Airport in Boston. I’ve been on some long trips up and down the East coast from Canada to Boston and Annapolis to Boston, on other peoples boat, this year I did my first solo overnight to George’s Island in the harbor. You’ve inspired me to get after it; to stop making excuses for not going further. This video was wonderful. Thank you.
