8bar formation. This formation was devised for Damon's 70th birthday dance called D for Damon, showing the formation separately, you get a better view, of the covering, than in the dance. It's a very simple formation, and has a smoothness to it. If you watch closely, 1W & 2M are tracing out the Letter D.

Thanks for your message, we love dancing this dance when we get a chance. Gaye
This is awesome!
Thanks for your comment, I have UA-camd several dances now using the Flirt & Cast formation in this dance, they are "Peter Price's Strathspey" another 5C advanced dance with totally different formations, along with the Flirt & Cast. Also "Flirt in Isolation", and an easier dance "The Flowering Heather".
Lovely dance, and like all of your dances, it flows so well. Nicely danced and so elegant. I will enjoy teaching this dance if that's all right with you.
Thanks for your comments Carol, this dance has a real story to it and if you would like the full instructions please email me on kiwidancemaker@gmail.com You may also like my last Strathspey UA-camd last month ua-cam.com/video/p0Gp0qeMYjo/v-deo.html
❤🎉
Thanks for your ❤ we had a good time creating that UA-cam, but several of the dancers who were coming got fogged in at the airport, so the team of dancers was pretty small that day.
Thanks for Commenting Colleen, it was a smooth dance to demo, and it feels nice to dance too.
Beautiful dancing! The covering is spot on, and the choreography is very clever. Thank you for sharing this.
A lovely dance and a marvellous way to remember a friend.
I love the music to Susie's dance too, Marian puts a wonderful set together, always makes me think of Susie when I hear it.
What a tune. Awesome.
I know, it's a Jim Lindsay set from RSCDS Book 49, I love it too.
Another Strathspey set I love and have used for my dance "Dancing in Kirkcudbright" Mr Gallamore’s Strathspey CD: Moments in Time: Jim Lindsay, Keith Smith & Muriel Johnstone. You may want to check it out, an all time favourite.
I just love the name, that is so funny 😂, I ❤️ it.
Thanks Nadine, it's all pretty innocent, no hard drugs involved, but the dance is busy, and I think the name just stuck.
Eckythump this is great 😊
Thank you, the team did a great job, and the dance is all about knitting moves.
@@kiwidancemaker You’ll have to compose a dance called “knit one, pearl one “ to commemorate my mothers attempts to teach me !! You don’t have to dedicate it to my mother, just all men in that predicament .
@@californiadreamin8423 I'll have a think about that, what is your back ground in dancing?
No background in Scottish dancing other than via the music. UA-cam algorithms have brought me to the music used for Scottish Dancing, both of which I find very skilful and refreshing . In my 20’s I played in several Ceilidh Bands and danced in a small country dance group….but the stepping which you see In Scottish Country Dance , was not used. The need to earn a living put payed to that. I didn’t play the fiddle then, but since retiring I try to attend for example courses run by Pete Clarke in Birnam, who frequently plays with Muriel Johnstone. It’s a fascinating hobby. Your choice of music….I’m not a great fan of the accordeon, but I love the crisp snappy tunes i hear. Some Jim Lindsay music particularly. That’s it…my knees are too old !!
@@californiadreamin8423 Marian Anderson and her band recorded a CD for me called The Musicians' Wedding, for my 3rd book of dances, and there were a lot of Muriel's tunes used. I am a big fan of them both and Jim Lindsay also. When you devise a dance finding music to fit, (well) takes a lot of time. I try and avoid using tunes well known for popular dances so it can be difficult.
Yes it’s lovely music. Do you have the name please ? Fine dancing too….and I see you have a fine regional airport nearby 😊
The music is from a Marian Anderson CD: Dancer's Choice Volume 1 Marian Anderson and her Band, Track 6 Mid Fodderletter. It's at the top of the comments, but easy to miss. Not sure what you mean about the regional airport nearby.
@@kiwidancemaker Hello. Thanks for the info, I’ll check it out. I’m in the N of England and spend a lot of time in Scotland improving my fiddle playing. I went to Google maps to find your location. I used to work with Aussies and Kiwis and tried to find their home towns out of curiosity. I was a pilot, and the airport caught my eye, that’s all. The whole area looks great. ( I’ve just corrected my imoji as the previous was unintended )
@@californiadreamin8423 Coffs Harbour is very pretty, and we come here to spend time with family. We live in Lower Hutt in the Wellington area NZ most of the time. Email address is collindg57@gmail.com if you want more info on dances.
❤😂 I leaned this dance today. we danced very happily,
Very beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!

Thanks for the acknowledgement of this dance I hope you liked it at St Malo.
❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Excellent
Thanks again, the team make this dance look very smooth.
Glad you like it, thanks for sharing
Wow, what an amazing dance! And so nicely done :)
Why thank you Sue, and yes the team do make the dance flow well. Where do you dance Sue?
@@kiwidancemaker We dance in the Lisbon area (Lisbon, Portugal), where there are now three groups. I think that one of the Lisbon groups has been doing a lot of your dances (the Lisbon-Lapa group), whilst our own group (Lisbon-Telheiras) has benefited enormously from the videos of formations that Lower Hutt has posted :)
@@suewilldig1087 So glad to hear the Beginners formation videos are helping you. I will pass on your comments to the committee as such positive feedback emphasises how valuable an exercise it has been. :)
Very nice
Sorry, just found this comment this morning. Thanks for commenting this dance is starting to get some floor time.
I' like to dance with you all too.

Marvellous Gaye. We feel almost as lucky as Zoe undoubtedly is.
Dancing the Baby (Tune) is amazing and I have always loved it. My background is in Irish dancing and it was a tune that I danced to many times in that environment from a very early age.
Thank you, Gaye. This will be a great video to show family and friends, not least the One & Only, to overcome the anxieties caused by the new and unfamiliar.
It certainly is a straight forward Wee dance, and I use it a lot. It is the sort of dance I have put into a folder named Good 1st of the Night dances. I also found recently FLOWERS OF DUNBEG (R5x32) which is another easy dance which we used just last week when we had a Grandchildren's night at the Lower Hutt Club.
@@kiwidancemaker Thank you very much, Gaye. A "Grandchildren's Dance Evening". Well now, that is a thought.
@@frankdsouza2425 Well as you know Frank with Covid hitting the world, numbers for activities in all areas are down. So we decided to run a Grandchildren's night and do some straight forward dances and we had 4, 5 couple sets for the first dance, and the feeling, and buzz was wonderful for the whole night. A little Chaotic at times but well worth it. :)
Thank you, One and All. Going to watch it again.
Hi Frank, do you need some clarification of the dance
That is first of all, gorgeous surprise. A close second is the sheer kindness of your offer, but the video is so beautifully clear, that perhaps I can save your offer for "a rainy day". Meanwhile, thank you so much. Frank
@@frankdsouza2425The team danced it well, I think too, they are wonderful to work with. If you check out the notes of the dance on "The Dictionary website" it will give you some more detail about why it was devised. :)
Hello Gaye, Will you forgive me, for I have only just (1:15 am, GMT) spotted the latest of your gracious responses. A fractured femur, healing nicely but slowly has kept me off the Dance Floor for quite a while, but your inspiring videos have kept me content, and touch wood, better able to return to a set, without too much disruption. A Happy Christmas to you and Damon, and to all fortunate enough to dance with you.
Lovely to hear from you again Frank. Do look after yourself as a fractured Femur sounds nasty. I am busy putting another book of dances together at present hoping to have it out in March. All the best Frant Gaye
I would like a copy of this please. It is beautiful, and was danced beautifully.
Thanks Johnina if you go into my dances on "The Dictionary Website " Devisers Page under Gaye Collin I have supplied an email, address, at the top, just email me and I can send you the original dance instructions and comments. Thanks for your interest , Gaye Collin devisor.
@@kiwidancemaker How nice that unlike so many uploaders, you take the trouble to read what your followers have had to say. And the, to respond so positively. I am going to do something that I normally avoid: SUBSCRIBE.
@@frankdsouza2425 I am delighted that teachers are giving my dances floor time and they are kind enough to make a comment. This little dance recently was danced at the Snowdrop dance in the States, and I was so pleased to be sent the UA-cam of it by a teacher MCing the dance, Yvonne Yang. See link here. ua-cam.com/video/lSafdf-9tkM/v-deo.html I thought the band did a wonderful job of playing some very pretty support tunes, I really like style.
