Vivaldi-Casella Gloria full
Description: This is an arrangement by A. Casella (1883-1947) of Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria for choir and orchestra. Casella turned Vivaldi's masterpiece into something that is attuned to the cultural and social drama of the 20th century without losing its original exceptional musical beauty.
The uploaded file is the digital version of the original LP released in 1970 by the 'Melodiya' record company of the Soviet Union. State Academic Russian Choir of the USSR orchestra of students of Moscow Conservatory conducted by A. Sveshnikov gave an outstanding performance that leaves us filled with wonder and delight. To the best of my knowledge Casella's version of Vivaldi's Gloria has never been publicly performed in the Western world. That is why I am happy to present Casella's work to UA-cam baroque music aficionados.

Performing this in November in a memorial concert for my father.
Es otro mundo..cierras los ojos y te transporta a otra época , es otro mundo bello.
The Casella (Ricordi/Franco Colombo) edition has indeed been publicly performed innumerable times by schools, colleges, and churches throughout Europe and North America, and was the dominant performing edition here until it was supplanted by the Martens (Walton) edition in the 60s. Many choir directors have learned to their chagrin that the two editions are incompatible owing to Casella's "augmentations," and thus now have stacks of both moldering on their library shelves.
Great tempo
