Drop G# ...... I mean, you know you can plug a bass into a distortion pedal, right? Look at those freaking telephone cables on that thing..... That is not to say you cant play. You can. Absolutely. Even liking heavy thicc and chunky......I dont get the obsession with tuning as low as possible......and not just using a bass......they're intonated for low tones ya know......

@@eted2 52 enough for me, not so good, but I’m not complaining. Scale length 25.
@@eted2 7 string set sounds like the better way, especially if you normally play 9s or 10s, going heavier on the full set just for a heavier bottom string will feel pretty bad. It is possible you will need to adjust the nut though. You can probably gently move the string back and forth in the nut if it's only a little bit tight, otherwise some proper filing might be needed. I've definitely done this when setting something up with heavier strings, but not as big a jump as E -> B, so I'm not sure what effect the wider nut slot might have if you go back to standard tuning.
