Honda Super Cub 125 - From Monaco to Nice (Cote d'Azur, France)
Today we're leaving Monaco and heading towards Nice, both in Cote d'Azur, Southern France. Wonderful weather, summer vibes. As usual, no music, no talking. Just environmental sounds and the occasional text comment. Enjoy! :-D
The Cote d'Azur in France is a very special place. Beautiful and very crowded in the summertime. It's a dream to cruise around that region on a humble Honda Super Cub.

    So I'm a new viewer but a long time Honda Trail 90 and Cub owner and rider, and I'm loving your content. Here's an odd request, could you give the route or motorway numbers of your trips so I can explore these in FlightGear's Open Street Map street environment? I've made some physics modeling and 3D content to put virtual motorcycles and scooters into FlightGear. And I'm trying to do your Grande Alpes tour on my Yamaha YG-1 FlightGear motorcycle. I've survived the first part from Thonon Les Baines to Les Saises part. Sometimes the 3D modeling of the roads gets a little more like a Superdome MX track and less like roads. Part of the fun is there's no tunnels yet so I have to reposition the bike on the other side of the tunnel. Thanks again for your time to post these videos.

    Loving the trip content so far, I'm on episode 2. I own a 1969 Honda Supercub C-102, the old pushrod 50 cc engined bike. I've remotored it with a pitbike 125cc 4 speed with manual clutch engine. Just over 17K miles on this bike. Not quite as plush riding as the new Cub, as the pitbike engine is apt to push it along at speeds it's brakes are barely safe for. It will do an easy 40 to 45 mph cruise.

    Thanks for this series, just finished the final one! I found this section a bit hard work in honesty, particularly east of Beuil and around the Col de Turini, I was crying out for some more open roads. That said on a much smaller, lighter bike like the 125 I reckon it makes far more sense. If people are finding it too much a brilliant route is to head south from Beuil, the road is wonderfully smooth and sweep and you run through a mini canyon of unusual red rock. Thanks again!

  • @BikingChap
    @BikingChap 6 місяців тому

    I think this is one of my favourite sections of the route too, the Mercantour National Park is so quiet and i love the way you criss cross over the river. It is slow going though and anyone wanting a faster route south might want to consider the Col De la Bonnette and rejoining around Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée

  • @BikingChap
    @BikingChap 6 місяців тому

    If you have the time you can detour left at Jausiers, 41:00 , and climb up to the Col de la Bonnette which if you include the Cime de la Bonnette is the highest paved through road at 2860m. You can then either carry on and pick up the route further south or I'd recommend retracing your steps to Jausiers to go to Barcelonnette so you can do the beautiful Col de la Cayolle section.

    Excellent video thanks for sharing, the Cub is a beautiful bike. It struggles on the hills you would probably not want to be on a main road, still it's amazing what you can do with 9 Hp, excellent for exploring the countryside. I only recently got into motorcycling, currently on a 2007 Tmax 500, great for exploring and has all the power one could ever need even for hills and I love the storage under the seat, I would also love the Cub 125. I would never pay new price for a tmax though they are very over priced but I got mine for 1700 Euro. 80,000 kms. I wish Honda would give the Cub a more traditional analogue clock with analogue fuel gauge and analogue clock, it would really make it look great, from the video it's impossible to see the speedo.

    You live in Lörrach? That's an ideal starting point for great Cub trips to the south! Lörrach to Milan is just about 340 km, which I can easily cover in one day with my Cub. Ticino, Lake Como, the Aosta Valley - all of these are right on your doorstep. These are all great trips from Friday to Sunday. Enviable! I did a ride from Frankfurt to San Remo and back with my Cub in early June, from Saturday to Thursday. In between, I took the train (Autoverlad) from Kandersteg to Goppenstein and then over the Simplon Pass. Great trip! I'm looking forward to see more of your trips!

      Yes I live in a suburb of Lörrach. It really is a nice starting point, esp. if you are into Alps riding. Lake Como is also on my to do list. But the trip I am most looking forward is the desert of Tabernas, unfortunately quite far away. Maybe iron butting one day. How do you manage the height of the Cub's handlebar? I found it challenging after a few hours, despite being a rather small dude... Cheers!

      @hondazoomer7338 7 місяців тому

      @@yoshi125cc For me, the entire Cub is a bit too small; I am 1.85 meters tall. Just to see the speedometer, I have to lower my head so far that I can't see the road anymore. But keeping an eye on the speedometer is especially important in Switzerland, where I paid 200 euros for being 6 km/h over the limit! There are certainly more comfortable scooters, but for me, the Cub is the optimal scooter overall - the design, the shifting, the handling, the engine sound. What I love about your videos is that you can hear the pure engine sound so well. And long distances eventually become exhausting on most scooters.

      Nothing else in my pocket. It's interference. The FOB's very weak signal gets easily distorted by many things: Power supply lines, high buildings etc...

    I've got 2019 red and white model. It's happiest at 60km per hour. Above that it starts reminding you it's being caned, and the vibrations start

      Absolutely. One should always acknowledge the primary use case of driving around busy Asian cities...

    Beautiful riding record indeed, and enough evidence for Taiwanese Traffic bureaucratic to see what a good organized road could be in coast side, good road payment, fine road line , road side parking design. ps: Taiwan’s road and traffic design is notorious. Year killed around 3000 (die in 24h after the accident)

      Hi! Why, are the coastal roads in Taiwan so problematic? By design or driving culture? Cheers!

    Nice Video! Always good to see some Cubs cruising around :) How do you recognize the engine sound of the Super Cub 125? Is it quiet/loud? I am driving the Honda Innova - which kind of is the predecessor of the Super Cub - and I get annoyed by just the Loudness of the engine. Cheers!

      Hello! I think my Cub vibrates quite a bit, especially around 70 kmh. My former scooter, a Honda Vision 110, was more "smooth". I know, comparing apples with oranges...

    Thank you for sharing. Beautiful coastal ride. Proving, once again, 8HP is more than enough to conquer the worlds most gorgeous roads. Thanks again.
