Sonora Fly Co - Gear Review - Patagonia Forra Wading Boots
The new Patagonia Forra ultralight wading boots are out of this world! These are my new go to wading boots and we are excited to have them in the shop!
Italian made by Fitwell, with Vibram® Mars sole, these boots represent Patagonia's vision between anglers and expert boot builders. They are very lightweight and quick drying due to the minimal material on the upper section composed of abrasion-resistant Cordura® nylon mesh.
From toe to heel the Forra are coated in a reinforced material which feels perfect for climbing around the jagged flagstone cliffs and rough granitic boulders that line the forks of the upper Stanislaus. Paired with aggressive tread on the Vibram sole, the Forras are a great hybrid hiking boot.
Overall, these boots are lightweight, tough, and comfortable to wear. Perfect for hiking the Sonora Pass region to get to those hard to find fish. Definitely wear with some neoprene wading socks for the added cushion and insulation.

How to tie the diverse Hare's Ear Nymph
Переглядів 4283 місяці тому
The Hare's Ear Nymph is a super effective pattern as it can mimic multiple different flies that include Mayfly nymphs and Caddis larvae. It can be tied across a wide size range, add a tungesten bead to help it get down in the water quickly, or leave it off for a nearly weightless dry fly. MATERIALS LIST: Hook: FM50 85 #14 Bead: 3.2 Round - Gold Dubbing : Hareline Hare's Ear Wire: Small - Gold T...
How to tie the Mop Fly (A Great Beginner Pattern)
Переглядів 1233 місяці тому
A great beginner fly tying pattern - the Mop Fly is a very odd looking fly, but its looks are deceiving as it imitates Caddis larvae extremely well and is extremely easy to tie. This fly can be put into the same category as a San Juan Worm when it comes to effectiveness and their less natural appearance. MATERIALS LIST: Hook: FM60 67 #12 Mop Chenille: Hareline UV Galaxy - Light Olive Dubbing: H...

How to tie the Slush Egg.
Переглядів 1965 місяців тому
The slush egg is a super simple and easy tie, and even more effective when it comes to catching fish. Compared to other egg patterned like the glo bug the slush egg sinks fast as it has a 3.5mm tungsten bead, and the Fulling Mill EZ Egg Yarn will slick back to help the fly cut through the water. This fly is also super versatile as it can be tied on a size 10-16 hook. Kit includes: 1 - 25pk Hana...

Bass Fishing with the Float n Fly 101

This is a standard issue set up for the Float n Fly (FnF) rig when fly fishing for spotted bass in our California foothill reservoirs. FnF is a super effective technique for catching a lot of hefty spotted bass all winter long from about mid-November through late March, basically when the weather is cold and/or stormy. In the winter months, especially when it is nasty out, the spotted bass will...
How to tie a Balanced Leech
Переглядів 3758 місяців тому
This is an awesome pattern that is very versatile as it can be stripped, dead drifted, or even put under an indicator. The fly is tied using a "Balancing Pin" to extend the bead beyond the hook eye, allowing the fly to sit horizontally in the water and utilize lake chop and wave action to create movement. It is another pattern that can be tied in numerous different colors that are all effective...

Nice vid! Nice fly. But from my experience no need for anything but the mop finger. Wild browns in central PA don't need anything but the mop finger

I’ve found that if you put a drop of super glue on the shank before you push the lead wire in behind the bead it will hold everything so you can wrap the little remaining tag of lead pretty easily. Nice tie

Take it from me. This rig works! I know, I know….. fly fishing with a bobber? …. indicators are bad enough. It’s not pretty, but fish love it.

Excellent video i have some Sonor 3D 3and 5 sinking line and i use it here in the surf for striped bass. We use the stripping baskets to manage the lines also. Stuff is impregnated with tungsten and it sure stays under the surf and waves well and casts like a rocket as well. I want to try using it from the banks or a float tube on some ponds and small lakes with the stripping basket also for bass and pickerel using a small clouser or muddler minnow soon. Iam new to flyfishing and casting in general and its alot of fun.
