Finding Stillness: Promoting Healing through Community-Informed Design
Historically, architects, urban planners, and designers have seen themselves as experts in the design of the built environment, often refusing to engage community members throughout their design processes. McKinney White and Echols believe that design thinking creates a unique positionality to elevate communities and center their voices within built works. enFOLD Collective will speak to their latest installation, Black - Still, to express an alternative approach, in which stakeholder engagement and a collaborative design process served as the impetus to community healing. Further, ongoing activation and programming of projects elevates the connections between built work and community. In an effort to promote social advancement beyond equity and inclusion, rehabilitative engagement can serve as the ultimate form of justice.

From Victorian Trains to Chatbots: Exploring AI Interface Design
Переглядів 744 місяці тому
How can people work with AI effectively, safely, and enjoyably? Combining ideas from Victorian railways with a dive into the mechanics of deep neural networks, Viégas and Wattenberg propose a new kind of AI instrumentation. They argue that if toasters and coffeemakers have displays that tell you their internal state, we should expect nothing less from modern machine learning systems. If we had ...

This is education and educational design at its very best! Stellar! It would be an additional experimental element - but potentially have the same students brainstorm (maybe stratified (by the 3 student groups you had), random sample into 2 groups - one that woukd brainstorm with you and one that would brainstorm without you) to suggest ways in which this course could be improved - knowing what they wrestled with, experienced as students to how they might modify, add, delete elements in the design - to see if any additional innovative optimization could be achieved and/or if new elements/functions would manifest. 😊

The wells that enriched Rockefeller and Ford are depleted. Alaska Permian Mexican North sea in decline. We're burning through 100 billion barrels of oil equivalent fossil fuels energy annually. Growing daily. America has more bore holes than any nation. Easy oil is over. More expensive dangerous and often lower quality oil is still available. Fracked wells depletes very fast. There is no Fossil Fuels Fairy refilling the holes

Since September 11 USA has left $2.5 million dead. 6 million wounded. Created 39 million refugees. $7+ trillion in infrastructure destruction and several nations in ruins. US military is largest institutional greenhouse gases pollution emitter yet does not report emissions. USA abandoned diplomacy statesmanship pragmatism compromise and rational thought choosing threats and outright violence instead. We will not be able to shift from deadly flammable fossils while provoking endless wars. We've been at war 24 straight years

No NATO in Ukraine=500,000 Ukrainian youth still alive or not wounded. US refusal to stop the foolish expansion of NATO is directly responsible for the suffering and #4+ trillion in damages to Infrastructure Ukraine.

GDP 99% correlated with flammable fossils. Materials 100% correlated. We're energy blind.

20th century was bloodiest century in history. Today we're 8 billion precious humans and every year another 80 million, 2X population of Canada, net new precious humans join us. We can no longer rely on the barbaric policies we inherited from Britain. The claim that Russia is using fossil fuels as a weapon ignores US identical illegal Iraq war which was about oil. 50+% of all resellable oil is in the region of Iraq Russia etc. We're burning fossil fuels faster than ever. Accelerating every day. Yet there is no Fossil Fuels Fairy refilling the holes

In the United States, however, the process of marijuana legalization is progressing gradually. Behind this is the interweaving of political and economic interests. Some states are pushing for the legalization of the marijuana industry in order to raise taxes and create jobs.

Regulations can be dodged and weakened over time. They are not a market signal, businesses assume they can hold them up and roll them back in courts, so they ignore them. Regulations also raise energy prices but don't provide relief to families. The fossil fuel industry likes CSS because it lets them kick the can down the road for decades more. Far better to simlly charge a cash-back carbon polluters fee. Put a steadily rising carbon fee on the production and import of coal, oil, and gas, rebate the money collected to all households on an equal basis each month, and use a CBAM to protect US businesses and motivate other countries to match our carbon price. Economists call this the gold-standard climate policy approach. Learn about Carbon Fee and Dividend with a CBAM. Then join Citizens Climate Lobby and learn how to help create the political will to enable Congress to pass legislation to do it. Thanks!

The fossil fuel industry has prevented addressing their pollution using the most effective policies through fraud, lies, and disinformation for decades. Learn about Carbon Fee and Dividend with a CBAM, talk about it, and call Congress to tell them to do it. It's half the solution to hold warming to 1.5°C (it pushes a high carbon price around the world while protecting families and businesses). And it makes doing all the other policy changes we need much easier to do. Join Citizens Climate Lobby to learn how to help create the political will needed to get Congress to act on our behalf.

    - We live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago - I have an explanation regarding the cause of the climate change and global warming, it is the travel of the universe to the deep past since May 10, 2010. Each day starting May 10, 2010 takes us 1000 years to the past of the universe. Today April 16, 2024 the state of our universe is the same as it was 5 million and 90 thousand years ago. On october 13, 2026 the state of our universe will be at the point 6 million years in the past. On june 04, 2051 the state of our universe will be at the point 15 million in the past. On june 28, 2092 the state of our universe will be at the point 30 million years in the past. On april 02, 2147 the state of our universe will be at the point 50 million years in the past. The result is that the universe is heading back to the point where it started and today we live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago. Mohamed BOUHAMIDA.

We consume about 100m barrels of oil a day. IF we moved over to green ammonia it could change the dynamics in amazing ways. Japan has decided to focus on green ammonia, they are importing green ammonia from India - India is exporting green power! That's pretty neat.

Harvey seems to be sincere in his support for Republicans, but I just can't get past the awkwardness of him dancing around the issues with the GOP. He basically restates Daniel's premise that the Party went along with Trump to get what they wanted and then were entirely co-opted. Then he tries the what about Bernie Sanders bit. Not good ground to stand on.

What about the riots throughout the yr that wasn’t violence. Just because it was some pampered politicians that was scared for there like and what did they do put up a fence around a building that belongs to we the people we pay them bills. So that means that there safely is so much more important then us common folks. Sence they but up a fence to keep us out the same people call racist when we want a border wall.
