All these years later I find this. I was at this gig, having walked around from a packed Albert Square where Tony Walsh had just delivered "This Is The Place". I recall bss talking about how they weren't sure the police would allow the gig, Kevin had flown in his dad to see them kick off the European tour, and they were nervous whether anyone would turn up; It was packed. I was so proud of Manchester's defiance in the face of brutality that night. Absolutely cracking, emotional gig.
Drew: I sent [Marr] a message saying, ‘Look, this is the song we’re gonna do now. We’re gonna open with this tune, and if you find it in your heart, come out.’ He called and said, ‘I’m coming.’ That was an iconic moment within the band, just due to the circumstances and the loss and the city, we were there when they were coming together. We weren’t sure what was going on. There was talk of martial law happening and all these things. And there we were, these Canadians who had this song, “Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl,” and we had James and Emily with us. We had the original writers in the room and it gave me shivers. Haines: To just be saying those words, that it was this loss of life of all these literal 17-year-old girls, was just the strangest end of metaphor. The song seems to have many lives. Drew: This song just constantly keeps giving back to us. It keeps giving us moments where it breaks down that barrier, it makes a connection to everyone. It’s the power of the tune.
I was at this gig pretty emotional. Great video. I would love to see backyards at the end on the set but i havnt seen one uploaded by any body as yet. The lyrics took on a whole new meaning for everybody I think.
I got to, like, 70% uploaded, left the tab to do other stuff and came back to find that Safari had annoyingly refreshed and cancelled the upload. I'll definitely have it up at some point by the end of the weekend. :)
Then listen to the studio version.. it's worth it. Here it is along with a fan-made video which was brilliantly done. cheers! ua-cam.com/video/KOg_7CzMssI/v-deo.html

Johnny Fuckin' Marrrrrrrrr
what is that bowed instrument???
A nyckelharpa, according to a previous comment.
Nice. But you didn’t sing the song. Just a Johnny marr wank. Very sad. I was hoping for some strong cords and sounds. You wasted marr.
Kiss kiss starfuckers.
Meh, he doesn't seem a man of undue ego, just wanted to add some flavor to the night. We shouldn't go around demanding more.
Best song ever
Anyone know the chords?
Bleaching your teeth, smile and flash talking trash under my window 😭
smiling flash*
Okay I have tears in my eyes. I had no clue Johnny played with BSS. I would have dropped dead on this spot the second Johnny walked onstage.
I feel like he only played this show because he's from Manchester
Stupid can barely hear those two lesbians they should if smooched
Nothing compares to the album version
You can never have enough guitar players.
It was enough for the old blues guys who had more soul than these too cool for the room posers.
lol bringing up blues guitarists in a broken social scene video. If there ever was an ok boomer moment 😂
Amazing piece of music, true art for the ears.
BSS is the Wu Tang of indie rock
Best comment ever
Hell yeah
Even 58-year-olds love this version of "Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl".
How about the 75 crowd? :-)

Do you want me to upload it? That's actually the one song from the gig that I recorded in full from the front row.
That would be greatly appreciated. if not any trouble.
