Hiking YuShan Front Peak - Taiwan 100 Peaks - 爬玉山前峰 - 臺灣百岳
Our first 臺灣百岳 Taiwan 100 Peaks hike together! And of course I made a mistake and got the wrong permit. Turns out there are numerous peaks to Mt. Jade (玉山) and instead of going to the MAIN peak, which is the highest in Taiwan, we went to the FRONT peak which is a considerably lower summit, yet still quite challenging and extremely rewarding. Follow along for the adventure!

Scuba diving a sunken shipwreck to explore the remains
Переглядів 108Рік тому
This ship was sunk off of the coast of Boracay, Philippines and has become an artificial reef over the many years it has spent underwater. A mere merchant cargo ship, it was still quite an amazing spectacle as it came into view somewhere around 25 meters below the surface of the ocean. We started with the bow of the ship and after exploring the deck, made our way inside the cargo hold which was...
River tracing, or Sawanobori, in the crystal clear rivers of Hualien
Переглядів 20Рік тому
River tracing, otherwise known as Sawanobori the Japanese art of stream climbing, is really popular in Taiwan as well. River tracing is the act of hiking up and/or down stream in a riverbed. While many of these hikes usually end at waterfalls or swimming holes, sometimes it's nice to just explore a new stream and make discoveries along the way. In this video you can see a small glimpse of what ...
Spring day hike in Northern Taiwan's low mountains

We returned to one of our favorite hiking loops in Northern Taiwan's SanXia District to tackle another 900-ish meter high peak. As it has been every time we have been here, the entire trail was empty except for some small animals and the only sounds were our footsteps and the local birds. We always love coming out here because the ride out from Taipei, once you've left the city limits, is excep...
Peaceful day hike in Northern Taiwan to one of SanXia's sub-1000m mountain peaks
Переглядів 11Рік тому
One of my favorite areas to hike in Northern Taiwan is the SanXia district. The vast majority of the trails here seem to only be used and developed by locals as no trending bloggers have deemed this area "Instagram-worthy," and there's nothing of significant importance or excitement nearby. This is perfect as the lack of popularity makes for amazingly peaceful day hikes among the many sub-1000 ...
SanXia has the most peaceful hiking in Northern Taiwan
Переглядів 29Рік тому
About an hour and a half scooter ride from Taipei is the Sanxia District of Taiwan. Still underdeveloped, especially by Taipei standards, Sanxia has many smaller mountains cloistered together which allows for easy access, high elevation gain hiking on peaks that tend to be less than 1000 meters tall. While not nearly as punishing in terms of elevation gain as some of the hikes in WuLai, the mou...
Canyoning Adventure in MeiHua Creek - Hsinchu County Taiwan 梅花溪溪降探險 - 台灣 新竹縣
Переглядів 12Рік тому
Exploring MeiHua Creek 梅花溪 for the second time, but instead of stopping at the waterfall at the end - we decided to go down it! The river trace up to the falls is not all that spectacular - especially compared to some of the other river traces in Taiwan - but the waterfall itself is quite splendid albeit only 20 meters tall. The guided tours usually go down the right side of the falls and stay ...

Hey I really liked the video but I'm not sure if I missed it. Do you know when the ship was sunk?
