Such a lovely lovely song. A very long time ago I was the singer of a Dutch cover band. Our guitarist and I (just the two of us) did an acoustic gig in a local pub during their Flower Power festival. This was one of the songs we performed. At one moment I looked up and everyone was quiet, watching, and gently swaying to this song. Everybody was smiling and happy. That's what this song does to people. I hadn't thought of this moment in years. Thanks for bringing it back to me, Alan! ❤

Even when she was very young, Angelina was taking iconic songs her own way. Her musicality never seems to fail. We get enough of the original to remember why it was so good, but Angelina gives us new ways to love the song. And for me, at least, I usually like her version better. And I understand much more clearly the meaning of the lyrics.

Her mentor was the great Billie Holiday and she is able to tap into and convey thru her music the real, hard life emotion that was in Billie Holiday's ballads, for as stated, there is no way she could have lived the experience displayed in her emotion laden presentation. Billie sang from the knowledge of her father dying because hospitals in the south refused to treat blacks, as well as her reading a poem called 'Strange Fruit' that spoke about blacks being hung from trees in the deep south. Billie turned it into a song of the same name and even though it was banned from all radio stations in the south, it sold over a million copies. Angelina was fully aware of all this and said in an interview, 'If not for Billie Holiday, there would be no Angelina Jordan today.' More profound words could not have been spoken.

WISTFUL. Yes, exactly. And all the Melissas were confused over this - "Oh please, name ME in a most beautiful song - MICHELLE has hers, etc - but name ME-!!" And yet, this song's wistfulness seemed to escaped the Total Beauty with the loss-and-longing.

If was composed after his death, the song to a lost romance probably would NOT include feelings towards a brother and friend. It's simply a chord progression song." Frankly, the LAYLA album has more memories FOR ME of Duane's guitar work, as well as being one of the seminal works in rock-guitar history.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 This was the first thing I ever saw of Angelina's, and my first reaction was to go wake up my cousin and say, " You have to come see something." I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing because it shouldn't be possible. It's obvious in the way Angelina performs the song that she knows what it means, and that shouldn't be possible. The very next thing I saw by her was her cover of Bohemian Rapsody on America's Got Talent, and then I watched her other two performances on AGT, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Someone You Loved. Well, after these four videos and reading that she did the arrangements of at least the first three, it was obvious that she was a savant at minimum and maybe just a plain genius overall. I became fascinated with her, I was still in denial at this point and had to watch and read everything I could find about her or by her. Finally, after two years or so, and after flying to LA to see her concert this past September 20th, I am able to admit the truth. I'm an addict and I don't want to be cured. Welcome to the wonderful world of Angelina Jordan. I don't know if it has been mentioned to you yet but there is a video called Ten Years In The Making in which she explains her musical journey up to the time of her Las Vegas concert in her own words. It's well worth watching and worth a reaction video if you are so inclined.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 Angelina filmed two other song covers in this location when she was 16. You saw on your screen the I Have Nothing Whitney Houston cover, that's one of the other songs filmed here. The other song she filmed at this place was My Funny Valentine. I don't know who wrote or who performed that second song first. Either of these two performances by Angelina would be very high on my list of songs, introducing Angelina to someone who didn't know who she was or how accomplished a vocalist she was. Thanks again.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 I just found and subbed to your channel, then went looking for other reviews of Angelina there. Still got two more to watch but I had a thought while listening to you describe how you go about your reviews and that thought was " I wonder how he would review one of her original songs that didn't have any historical context." One of her earliest known original songs is Oslo. It's on her album It's Magic. The only history I know is that it was recorded prior to she and her family moving to Los Angeles so that she could follow her dream of singing for the world. I don't recall if the lyrics are on Spotify for this song but I do remember that they have the lyrics to one of the songs on that album completely wrong in that they belong to a completely different song. I clicked the thing that tells them it's wrong, and the automated response was something like, " thanks, we're on it!" That was two years ago, and the last I checked, it was still wrong. But back to Angelina, she recorded that whole album with the Norwegian Military Orchestra. One more song that I have others say was just before moving to LA was her cover of Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye, which she recorded for Norwegian TV at ten. As I understand it It's Magic was recorded when she was 11, and she did a series of concerts in Norway the following summer when she was 12. I believe she moved to LA in 2018, so since she is 19, now the math works out such that she was 12 when she moved here rather than 10. The only other original from that time period is What Is Life and It's also on It's Magic, but there is a video of her singing it after she moved to the US permanently as well. Of course, she has been back to Europe since she was 12 too, but I am just trying to give some context to Oslo for you. Some of the lyrics fit a more permanent move as they are wistful and longing as if she missed her hometown just knowing she was leaving it. What a remarkable young woman Angelina is. Whatever you will do next by Angelina there is no doubt I will enjoy it, I have only heard one song by her that I don't like and she only sang that one once. Thanks, and may God bless you and yours.

I feel blessed and thank you for your kind words .. so Oslo ? Now I’m sat thinking I have no reason not to go to that song and see what happens on camera .. thank you , I think this may be a very quick decision and production , I’m intrigued .

@alan-reacts65 if there is video I can't tell you where it is, possibly on her grandmother's channel. I listen to it on Spotify. Come to think of it I think I read about someone saying something like creating Oslo or something similar so you might try something like that in a search. That whole album is on UA-cam music I think but I don't think there are videos for most or even all of it. Like I said I listen to it on Spotify.

@@alan-reacts65 I forgot another of her early original songs. The title is Shield, about the strong love of her family protecting her. And there is a music video and an interview on either Norwegian or Swedish TV followed by her performance. Often I see people reacting to the song without the interview so they are not always together when the people found the video. She was 12 when singing it on the television show as they asked her if she felt like she was 12 while remarking that she didn't come across as 12. She replied "I feel 12 when I look at my passport. "

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 Angelina does this as a 12 year old!!!. This young woman has otherworldly musical capacity. It's enough to send you into an existential crisis at times. I often find myself thinking, " she shouldn't be able to do this." But she does do it...over and over again. Subbed for more. God bless.
