    Maybe this will help you explain plasticity in future, so people don't think that they need actual plastic added to their soil! 😉🎉PLASTICITY in regards to the quality of the soil means how easily it can be molded, shaped without crumbling apart. The amount of Clay in the soil gives the soil the abilities to be molded. 🙏🧓

    What do you do if you have a silty soil? What can you add to it to make it good for bloxk making?

    • @terresahel235
      @terresahel235 11 місяців тому

      You can only work with silty soil with high plasticity that is if it is sticky enough it allows for addition of sand to provide the soil with more skeleton while having enough cohesion to be pressed. Start with 4.5:4.5:1 ( soil, sand , cement respectively. If the soil is silty and has no enough stickiness, ditch it !

    u could have just put the soil in the jar 1/4 of the way and 3/4 water sake it and leave it for 30mn to settle that would tell u the proportion of sand silt and clay in.

    • @terresahel235
      @terresahel235 Рік тому

      That test is suitable when the soil is sandy but sadly not applicable to especially silty and clayey soil. Although the test is good in showing whether a soil is expansive or not , it does not give you the accurate proportions of sand silt and clay in the soil
