Memories of jumping on a 3x4CEP with an MLV afront at Bromley South on a day out to Margate... My late father was one of the last signalmen working the old Bickley signalbox before Chislehurst took over, he also worked Beckenham Junc and Shortlands more modern boxes back in the 70's, occasionally he would Chislehurst but more often found in Swanley, Farningham Road and his book signature was last for Longfield, Sole St and Cuxton Down (intermediate box between Sole St and Rochester) when Meopham power box displaced a lot of small boxes before moving up a grade to Cuxton, Hoo and Sittingbourne relief bases and he used to spend hours moaning about having to trudge along to unlock the naval docks line for a nuke train if it was raining. Only boxes he never worked were Meopham or Dartford power boxes lol
