    I don't understand all the critisisms of the cgi original character coming back, both for the fact that he's there & to say that it is poorly visualised, this is as well done as say...Arnie in TERMINATOR GENESIS or a much younger Michael Douglas in ANT MAN, My only critisism being the skin looked a bit waxen, making him appear younger than he was in the original. As for him being there, why not ? this version was going for nostalgia & another autonaton was needed.

    I had VERY mixed emotions about this film/ my thinking was not ANOTHER ALIEN film what more is there to say(plus I had read a very negative review of it first, BUT I decided to take a leap of faith as I had with the excellent BATMAN BEGINS & RISE OF THE APES & although this wasnt quite up to their standards, I was pleasantly suprised by it. It's true that there's nothing new in the sense of plot/story, BUT it had some new fresh ideas most of which worked & a great nostalgic atmoshere to it all, especially when they get on board the...Space station, everything looked the same as in the original film, with little in the way of white sanitised non scary coridoors & labs, once again we have a drawn out beginning on the industrial Wayland planet, but it all takes off once they arrive

    I am trying to picture a kid watching this show, buying the action figures and then.... have trinity die immediately, make the wookie mind controlled to kill his friends and then get killed alone in a corner, have sol creep around peeking at children from behind trees, and torbin get mind controlled, sit motionless for ten years and then drink poison. A ripping good time! Classic jedi celebration! Then they can have even more fun with some hot sith action, getting osha and mae mixed up because they are literally played the same way, while venestra wanders around like a green plank. Absolutly no one is asking for a season two - the only characters with potential were sol (until he was ruined) and jackie. The "reveal" of camir was so dumb, why is osha holding hands with him at the end, a day or two after a mass murder including her supposed friend jackie?? Plagious so wise, he's creeping around a desolate beach cave instead of acting as puppetmaster behind the halls of power like his future apprentice?

      @@quartertwins so, not much there for kids to enjoy. Then we move on to the adults - the only spark of human joy I saw was the sudden and inexplicable friendship between osha and jackie. Inexplicable, but at least they really smiled at each other. Everyone else seems to take turns berating each other, the four primary jedi are jointly monotone morose over a self defense action 16 years previous. They were relegated to taking grass samples for weeks, as though that is something you need jedi for. Not a heroic impulse in the bunch. No?

    • @quartertwins
      @quartertwins 5 місяців тому

      I guess what I meant was that the story takes on more adult themes, like grief, remorse, and desire over duty. These things don’t really cater to children, or joy for that matter, it’s ok to tell sad, scary, or potent emotional stories through Star Wars, its kinda the whole point of Sci-fi (my favorite genre of storytelling). As far as the 4 Jedi go, they should be sad and morose, they slaughtered a coven of innocent witches, and covered it up. They’ve all broken the Jedi code and are hiding those feelings inside. Sol even steals a child and raises her as a padawan, but he killed her mom and sacrificed her sister to “save” Osha from a horrible life he was so sure she was going to live (A fate never confirmed to be real btw). Also the Jedi were there researching a vergence in the force, a super Jedi thing to do. Also “Jedi are keeper of the peace, not soldiers” a quote from freaking Mace Windu, one of the most aggressive Jedi ever. So Jedi life was mostly boring stuff like picking grass, meditating and deescalating conflict, not swords drawn guns-a-blazing like in the clone wars. The movies show us the dope action scenes cause that is what makes for good film and tv. You might like Dune, it’s really sad and boring and takes forever to get good and tells really dark adult stories.

      @@quartertwins one reason the mental health issues of our young people is through the roof is because they spend most of their time in a bleak hellhole media landscape. Most children's lit had serious undertones with dead parents and real loss (grimm tales. wizard of Oz. Tom sawyer, heidi, sound of music, the s.e. Hinton books and, yes, Luke and leia in the original movie. Spiderman, superman and batman too). Bad things happen, but good people persevere. This show is a good example of mental illness writ large - strange obsessions, pointless lives, paranoia, isolation, and bipolar flipping of boundaries. I cant really argue with you because you are just presenting the twisted plot beats as though they are good and necessary. In this show, all teen age Torbin wanted to do was go home, and after getting possessed by witches he leaves home to sit in a force bubble and drink poison. That's the saddest sh*t I've heard and there is nothing "adult" about that arc, only mental illness. Paul Atreides gets through his many trials just fine and saves the world. Orphan Dorothy gale dances her way down the yellow brick road making dozens of friends. The motherless von trapp kids are chased around by nazis with a song in their heart. Ooh rah. We need new stories, not just like the old ones, but certainly no more like this new wave of gloomy hopelessness where nobody likes each other and jedis have nothing better to do but pick grass and steal children. That world sucks, and doesn't help us process our experience in this world with anything resembling health or joy. As jesse jackson would urge us over the years - keep hope alive!

    First of all if you enjoyed it, great. I'm jealous. Because the following are just a snippet of why I can't like this show, and why I think Lesley Headland and that writing staff should be as far away from Star Wars as possible. How/why Osha is doing what she is doing isn't explained. she hasn't used witch magic or the Thread in 16 years, but she can use it now as if she were a Mother? It's only been a day at most and she trust's Qimir? why? Sol, should have disarmed Mae. He said just a few minutes ago he needs her alive, so I doubt he was going to kill her. The ship doesn't have a hyperdrive so she can only go as far as Brendock. Then that lil *hit rat basal. wtf is his motivation? And all of this makes the chase pointless and just eye candy. The scene with David Harewood, should have been the absolute first scene of the whole entire series. It sets up the stakes. And what is sad is that 2 minutes of David is better than most of the characters in this show, not all, but most. When the senator asks who will stop the rogue Jedi. Any competent writer should have Venestra speak up. "The Jedi have guarded the Republic, even to our own detriment for Eons. And we will always be there to defend it as we did against the Sith...." it cuts the momentum that the Senator built up, and it would show that Venestra knows how to play that game as well. This show has given me no faith that they know how to do Plagueis justice, so I wish he was never even cameoed, especially since he should be a late tween to into his teens right now. but hey just a birthday right? Sol runs from the Jedi, just to turn on his transponder now? why? At the bare minimum he should of turned to Bazil and said "if I don't come back by such and such time, turn on the transponder and wait for the Jedi to arrive." How do you get the lift operational? you blew up the generators, its been 16 years of degradation. How does Qimir get in? new force power Force Teleportation? Why is there a hole in the roof? should have had Osha Force Push Mae out of the room, and then she disappears, because the "batmaning" is getting old and overused. Also her use of the Force on Mae and looking at her hands just adds more credence to her regaining her powers. I get he was trying to use the helm again, but you have your lightsaber on the opposite side of Sol's blade. TAKE the bloody shot! his head is right there! Sure he destroys the main saber, but your Shoto saber is still there, and you have to have 2 crystals for 2 blades. Sol has trounced Qimir two times now, but Mae can disarm him with ease? Lightsabers are built to be durable, but a toss onto something suddenly breaks this one like it's a dollar store toy? Also if the lightsaber is damaged as it looks to be when it lands. When Osha turns it on it should blow up in her hand. Mae has spent the entire season looking to kill the Jedi, she flips to good, and then back to bad in the span of 5 minutes. Now at the end suddenly she wants Justice? Where did this come from? Its rather convenient that Sol never gets the chance to say "your mother was turning into Force demon, and was vaporizing Mae. I did what I thought was best to protect Mae and you Osha. My only choice was to strike down your mother." "Without Mae there was no proof" What about the blood tests? The fact that Mae and Osha had identical resonance signatures in the Force? Crazy how the writers forgot about that. Osha bleeding a crystal by accident is not only wrong logically, it literally goes against Disney's own lore. How many Men, women and children did Anakin kill? his saber never changed. On top of that the saber looks damaged, the crystal is off set and sticking out of the hilt. It should blow up in her hand when she ignites it. There should be Rage, heartbreak, outrage in Osha to even begin to bleed a crystal. I'm talking about all but foaming at the mouth!... I don't see any of that on Amandla's face, until after he is dead. She should still be angry when he lashes out at Qimir.. instead she's puzzled? Its also sad that Venestra has all the powers every other Jedi should have had in this show, aside from her use of Psychometry. She tells them to set up a 5 klick Perimeter, and yet ALL of the Jedi are following the Rat?! that is not how a perimeter works! "You are going to do what you were meant to do?" What exactly is that? hmm? it literally is not established at all in the show. And what is established changes at the drop of a hat. Memory Wipe.. great Qimir can do it... so why didn't he use it beforehand? just a tease of it somewhere earlier in the show to leave that lil bread crumb. So when he uses it here you're like aah ok. Then Yoda.. looks as old as he did in the OT. Why couldn't they spend the money to either make a younger puppet, or just CGI him as was done in the Prequels? Where was Yoda? He could feel Order 66, but not these Jedi dying? But worse yet, instead of making the Jedi look fallible. They did nothing but make them look incompetent, absolutely corrupt, and if she comes clean with Yoda then that makes him complicit in the corruption. I can't claim most of the things I pointed out as my own ideas, in fact i've gathered them from many people from youtube. But they are all valid points. Most of these just come from this episode, with just a few extending back to the beginning of the show.

    • @quartertwins
      @quartertwins 5 місяців тому

      First of all, thank you for this comment, holy Moses! I want to say "nitpicking = bad I win" but I can't really do that here. There definitely are a lot of inconsistencies across the whole show, and across the entirety of star wars, so it's just something that we always have to deal with and furthermore it is a worthwhile pursuit to nitpick in an effort to help creators build more consistent and fantastic worlds that we love! My only "rebuttal" would be that while finding logical fallacies or large plot holes are annoying and at times funny, i think it's more important to look at the message a storyteller is attempting to convey. Now in the case of Acolyte? Honestly it's hard to say, I just like the lightsabers and the cool new witch coven that explores a new interpretation of the force...maybe something about the dangers of following indoctrination? Chasing what you want over all else is bad, but also good? It's not very clear, and a primary reason Andor and The Clone Wars are so much better. All in all I mostly agree and believe that these are true. But for some reason I like it anyway, can't explain it. But you should watch our Ahsoka review, I was really pissed that day. -Josh

I really implore you to take a step back and ask yourself if you feel obligated to like or defend this show and be overly positive about it due to your likely similar political affiliation with the messaging or values of the Disney writers. Qimir and his desires for an Acolyte and the shows general tone surrounding the corruption and arrogance of the Jedi order (something the goat Rian Johnson keyed in on in The Last Jedi) is just such a fun topic too see discussed. And I don't watch Star wars to appreciate...challenging institutions lol. I don't like all this activism being placed on major IPs. It's not morally right to force your disputed view points onto major series. It's what blackrock is doing and I find it morally abhorrent. Just have fun fantasy not political messaging.

    The sequels from the 70s were WILD. People were WAY too harsh on Burton's 2001 film if only they remembered how crazy those previous movies were.
