He most definitely is my best friend, I've had him since he was a Colt he's 10yr old now and cannot imagine life without him. He works cow's every day and never complains, he's ready before I am in the morning. Best damn horse on the planet. In my opinion. Congratulations on your best friend, i hope you have many many years together.

Peta is an evil organization. My horses run barrels and they LOVE their jobs! Love to to go do their job! You should see them try to take their bit when I’m just holding the bridle! Like you said, they get loose and go get on the trailer! Horses living out their purpose? Being pray for large cats or coyote? PETA is evil! Horse events are amazing and the best taken care of animals.

I have a 36 year old mini who is completely on a bucket diet (zero hay due to lack of teeth) No beet pulp, no senior feed. Just hay pellets (teff), rice bran, Coolstance and a bunch of herbs! Its soaked to an oatmeal of consistency and fed twice a day. Vet came out last month (for another horse) and said "WOW she looks good! How old is she now??" =)

I am in my 70’s and have worked professionally with horses all my life. I live with a herd of horses who are the grandchildren and great grandchildren of a mare who came to me in 1967. She was 2. I was 16. My horses live freely together as a wild herd would, but they share their lives with me. Together we have been providing interaction with horses as therapy for humans since 1975. So I can affirm that they freely and actively choose to involve themselves with us. PETA does not understand this. That said, as a dressage rider myself I have been increasingly distressed, as have many other good horse people, at the wrong directions that competitive dressage has taken. And there have been questions about Combined Training, (3 Day Event), for years ever since Might Tango had to be on oxygen after completing his event. (I believe Tad Coffin was his rider?). So yes- the competitive sport people need a wake up call. Maybe Equestrian sports need to take a hiatus from the Olympic Games and come back when they have figured out how to compete without abusing the horses. Horses do all the things riders want of them naturally- the trainers and riders involved in high level competition need to learn how to communicate with their horses without the need for bits and spurs and whips. I agree with Peta's request regarding horses and the Olympics. Clearly horses are being abused by equipment that restricts their movements or forces it into uncomfortable positions, possibly damaging their bodies. I have relationships with horses and agree that horses love to interact with people and enjoy being ridden as long as they are comfortable. I have seen horses put into bits by Olympic riders that draw blood in pictures, bridles, martingales, etc. that hurt them. I don't think horses should be exploited for the entertainment of humans, if other countries insist on putting horses in abusive and uncomfortable equipment, they must not be allowed to compete in the Olympics. Human athletes are not forced to compete in abusive conditions and equine athletes deserve the same respect! Maybe we shouldn't think of it as eliminating the horses but not allowing countries or riders to participate if they insist on using equipment that causes pain!

Why are you calling her an idiot like she knows what your saying? The disrespect some people show their horses is insane. Maybe that why she bucks, because you have a crappy relationship. And this is coming from a barrel racer, btw and everyone hates us, even the non abusive ones like me, learn to actually love your horse and treat it respectfully. You can’t “control” a 1200 lbs animal, it’s all about trust and friendship and actually knowing the basics, like groundwork, AND flat work. I literally hate people

There could be a problem under the saddle like a burr or the girth is pinching. Maybe the bit is uncomfortable in her mouth. And like another person said she could be in pain. If you look at her tail set she’s showing she is in discomfort.

I’m kind of new still at this point, I was paired with a wonderful horse but he’s not a lesson horse like the rest of us would ride for lessons and stuff. He kind of does stuff like this randomly and I’m curious how you work through it next time you ride her? I struggle getting back on and more so, getting back on and not anticipating this behavior even if he shows no signs. It’s not really fair to him but at the same time, I just panic and think “uh oh here we go” even when he’s not doing anything and his like ears perk ip or something 😂
