Amazing tools: filmbox, scatter, screen, lattice …🔥
Yes, totally! VideoVillage is a really great company✌🏻😊
Filmbox lite - help me, i am trying to understand the benefits of the push/pull process for creative reasons? It looks like a simple contrast slider???
This looks awesome! Nice work
Thanks so much!🙏🏻😊
I bought this. To go with my Beyond Film Emulation. Im using them both in my latest film grade. Out in cinema this week!
😱😱😱👀👀👀
Check it out, mate!🙌🏻✌🏻😊
Do you have any free link to download scatter?
You have DCTL FOR SONY cameras For iPad Pro 😊😊
You can look up all my free DCTLs on my Github (github.com/Demystify-Color/DCTLs) and I also have some to purchase in my shop (www.demystify-color.com/shop). I do not provide any DCTLs natively for Sony, but you could always use a Color Space Transform to DWG, ACEScct or LogC3 to solve this easily :)
For Sony cameras which DCTL YOU have😊😊
You can buy the mentioned look pack in the video above and use a Color Space Transform from your Sony log profile to DWG, ACEScct or LogC3. This easily does the trick even though the DCTLs are not natively built for Sony log😊
I’m having hard time working with dctls , I found about them thru this video . I’m on latest 18.6 . I downloaded many free dctls and installed like you showed here . David I see them , and when when I try to add one thru dctl plug-in , I can , but the dctls don’t do anything to image , or any options for changing settings , I tried to contact resolve team and they didn’t have a solution for me , im not understanding why this is happening
I'm really sorry to hear that! Which DCTL in particular are you talking about? And are you on Windows or Mac? Have you provided the LOG file to BMD? Also have you made sure that there isn't any HTML code included within the DCTL when downloading it? That's one of the most common errors! Best, Nico
Thanks for this detailed video! I have the lite version and quite like how it treats the colors of the footage. I'm wondering if there's a setting in the full version where you can just use film box as a color grade tool (having the ability to turn off the grain), because for many of my projects, I can benefit from having the filmbox emulated color, but not the heavy grain.
You're welcome! And yes - that's possible in the paid (full) version. You have way more flexibility with the full version overall :)
How to use in PC?
Unfortunately there's no Windows version available at this date. You can write the guys at VideoVillage to ask if one is planned. Cheers, Nico
Looks really good! :) May I ask which screen recording app you used? It's seems nice and minimalistic!
Thank you! I'm just using OBS. Nothing fancy😊
@@demystifycolor Awesome, thx! 🙂
If anyone wants to share a perpetual license, send me a message 🔥🔮
Hi, I’m interested! How do we work it out?
@@joec4936 send me a message 😇
Hey, I would be also interested
This is mind blowing 😅 simply amazing I’ve been binge watching all your videos I have a question can we turn the looks we develop from beyond film and make them luts like we can do with look designer
Thank you so much! Really means a lot!🥹 😊 Yes, that's possible! You can watch the "Show LUT Class" on my website if you want to learn how to do this in-depth (www.demystify-color.com/showlut) or you can simply use this amazing technique by Kaur Hendrikson: ua-cam.com/video/EAHzZH_tdHQ/v-deo.html
awsome video man this answered so many questions i had one thing tho i tried getting the arri classic lut and the newwe arri lut off the arri site and it didnt let me download it do you think you could email me it
This is gold. Please keep making these. You deserve much more subscribers. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for the very kind words! :-) I'll definitely continue doing these! Do you have any particular plugin/DCTL/... that you would love to see reviewed? Also if you're generally interested in my tutorials you can find all of them here: www.demystify-color.com/all Thanks again! Cheers, Nico
this looks great ! I would love to see a couple more examples of how you would use it in a short commercial for example !
Thank you so much! Very happy to hear🙂 Also thanks for the input - there are more examples and look breakdowns coming soon. I will incorporate a few shots of a commercial too!
Have thee new examples and breakdowns been created?
I'm really love it but I still have issue. I don't know how to install this plugin in my davinci resolve 17.
Happy to hear! What problems are you facing? I'd suggest to reach out to the VideoVillage support - I'm sure they can help you!
Hey question really important question how do you instal input transform
Hi! If your IDT's are provided as DCTLs the installation is the very same as with all the other DCTLs. The difference is that they probably do not have user adjustable parameters included so you can apply them to your shots the very same way as LUTs😊 Hope this helps! Cheers, Nico
Thanks very much, it works quite well. Just trying them out now. [I have studio version 18.1]
Awesome! Have fun exploring the amazing world of DCTLs😊
I subscribed for a paid version of filmbox and davinci resolve doesn’t recognise the plugin on my iMac
That's a bummer! Unfortunately this is just an independent review and I'm not from the VideoVillage team. I'd suggest to reach out to the VideoVillage support. I'm sure they're happy to help😊The only thing that comes to my mind is that you can go into your "Preferences --> Video Plugins" and see if Filmbox is listed there and checked. If it's listed but unchecked just tick it, hit save and restart Resolve. Maybe this does the trick. I hope this helps! Cheers, Nico
How does this standalone tool compare to others? I know Dehancer has a bloom feature, but don’t know how they differ.
I don't know of any other tools that do something similar tbh, sorry. Dehancer's bloom is just a nice way of shaping highlights and diffusing them. But this is just a creative tool and it isn't based on any real world filter or similar. Still nice though. With Scatter you can mimic lots of filter that are available for DPs to actually shoot with. And you have way more presets and creative freedom with Scatter. Hope this helps! Cheers, Nico
so DCTLs are only for the studio version right? not able to use it in a free version ((
Yes, you would need the Studio version of DaVinci Resolve to run DCTLs. But the price of entry is totally worth it, as there are a lot of super awesome DCTLs out there available for free. It definitely pays off - I'll promise!
Discover our analog effects and film filters with our new IOS application and FCPX plugin!
Where did all those transforms go? Downloaded the zip, but most of it seems to have been cleared out.
Sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Could you rephrase it please?

this is mind blowing rel good job man question do mind linking the two music videos you graded using film box just those little clips you showed it looks amazing
Thanks a lot! Glad you like it :-) You can watch the mentioned music promos here: ua-cam.com/video/xjjiOvOpbVA/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/OCNbXFljgD4/v-deo.html
Hi, I’m editing on a M1 Max MacBook Pro and I downloaded the trial version of film box and it won’t play back in real time after a simple film effect on one node. Is that normal? What playback are you getting with all those layers?
That's crazy! It works without any issues and in real time on my MacPro (even with more then one node of Filmbox), but my machine is way more powerful than a MacBook obviously and it's Intel based. You could try to reach out to the team of Filmbox via e-mail. They are usually very responsive and happy to help. My guess would be that the plugin isn't optimized for M1 just yet. But maybe that's also just true for the free version.
@@demystifycolor hi thanks for the reply. I tired it again today and it was playing back a lot better! I have been having all kinds of inconsistencies with the M1 so far
@@TheHitchcockBlues It sucks that you're facing inconsistencies, but I'm happy that it is running perfectly fine now! Enjoy playing around. It's a great piece of software 🙂
Considering Filmbox is much more expensive than Dehancer, do you consider it far better or are they similar? On a budget, would Dehancer be worth it or is it best to just aim for Filmbox? I would love a comparison
Hey! actually this is really hard to answer as they are both pretty different even though they may sound the same according to their promos. First off: Filmbox has some options for ACEScct, but you have to use a custom pipeline and use their plugin as ODT. You can't use it in a project level based ACES workflow with the standard ACES ODT. Also I think if you want to emulate Kodak Vision3 250D stock Filmbox will give you the best results (very subjective, of course). Furthermore Filmbox has the best Halation model at the time being. Dehancer on the other side definitely is the best price/performance wise. They have a unique approach to their profiles which can give really pleasing results, but they are more like "looks" and not "real" film emulation (at least with all the motion picture stocks) if you ask me. That being said, I get really great results out of them anyways. I also prefer the grain of Dehancer over Filmbox. Last but not least I'm not sure if you can build a pipeline for HDR workflows with Dehancer. There are definitely options for it at Filmbox. I hope this helps you. There's also a review of Dehancer on my channel, just in case you haven't seen it yet. You'll also find a discount code there, if you want to go for Dehancer :-)
@@demystifycolor I'm currently working with dehancer and you're absolutely right, dehancer isn't really a film, in my opinion it's just a cheap simulation. Filmbox is very good like real film
@@fashion.photographer Thanks for sharing your opinion, Dogan! Much appreciated 🙂
@@fashion.photographer I agree with your comment. I've been trying Dehancer, Filmbox, and Look Designer. The only one that stands out, and by far, is Filmbox. I am sticking to it 100%. Wins hands down.
How would you compare dehancer to look designer?
Hey! Actually this is really hard to answer as they are all pretty different even though they may sound the same according to their promos. Dehancer has options for various film aesthetics like Halation, Gate Weave, Grain, and so on. So you get more or less a "full film lab". So it's definitely the best price/performance wise. They have a unique approach to their profiles which can give really pleasing results, but they are more like "looks" and not "real" film emulation (at least with all the motion picture stocks). That being said, I get really great results out of them anyways. Also all the updates are for free and they update regularly. And I really like the grain of Dehancer. Look Designer on the other hand is by far the best plugin for color management and all their input & output color spaces are outstanding. You'll get lots of different (motion picture) film profiles and all of them are really well built. Lot's of them you won't get anywhere else. Also you can mix and match many different stocks and contrast curves. So it's a really creative way of designing looks. Furthermore I think this is a more modern approach to film emulation (because you can work scene referred) and you can use this pipeline for HDR workflows too. Also it works natively in DWG & ACES. I hope this helps you decide. And last but not least - don't forget to use the discount code if you want to go for Dehancer 🙂 Best, Nico
How would you compare bloom from dehancer to scatter?
Hey Chris, to put is simple (oversimplified) I'd say bloom is a bit like the Glow OFX on steroids. So a simple aesthetic feature you can customize a tiny bit. Scatter on the other hand mimics actual filters (a lot of different ones) that are available for shooting with technically really accurate (there's also a review about Scatter on my channel). So Scatter is not just affecting/blurring the highlights, but also changes your overall contrast and also the blacks/shadows (depending on the filter and your settings). So of course this is also an aesthetic transform, but it will also help immensely to match footage for example if a DP shot with a black pro mist on the A-cam and you want to add a pro mist filter on a drone shot too. Also you'll get lot's of different presets and looks and not just one feature with a few knobs to adjust like with bloom. But don't get me wrong - both can lead to beautiful results. They are just completely different tools that lead to different results.
How does this differ from Cinema Grade?
I'm not familiar with Cinema Grade, sorry. But Filmbox did a superbe job of profiling actual real motion picture film and made it available for a scene referred workflow. So just by looking at the homepage of Cinema Grade it doesn't seem to be a professional tool, but more like a rip-off gimmick. Filmbox on the other hand is a tool for professional workflows that leads to lovely results.
@@demystifycolor greatly appreciated
@@EdRobles1 You're welcome, Eddie! 😊
Looks great. Can you play some full screen clips?
Some full screen clips are included in the tutorial. Also you can watch the mentioned music promos here: ua-cam.com/video/xjjiOvOpbVA/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/OCNbXFljgD4/v-deo.html Cheers, Nico
@@demystifycolor Thanks! Looks great
Need an honest answer. Dehancer or Filmbox, which is better?
@@loveinthelandfill1124 Hey! Actually this is really hard to answer as they are pretty different even though they may sound similar/the same according to their promos. First off: Filmbox works scene referred and I really love this. Also I think if you want to emulate Kodak Vision3 250D stock as close as possible, Filmbox will give you the best results (very subjective, of course). Furthermore Filmbox has the best halation model at the time being. Dehancer on the other side definitely is the best price/performance wise. You get lots of features which you can all tweak a lot for just 1/3 of the price of Filmbox. They have an unique approach to their profiles which can give really pleasing results, but they are more like "looks" and they do not try to replicate motion picture film negative 1:1. But there's an update with a 2383 print stock profile coming soon. That sounds really interesting! I also prefer the grain of Dehancer over Filmbox. They grain model of Dehancer is just outstanding and probably the best one in a plugin at the time. I'd say that Dehancer is more a "look" plugin where Filmbox actually tried to archive a very scientific replicate of film stock with all their aesthetics. That being said, I get really great results out of both of them and I'd recommend that you get a trial of both and decide on your own. What perfectly fits one may is not the best for another person and vice versa. It all boils down to personal taste and workflow. And it also depends on your projects. Hope this helps you! :-)
@@demystifycolor thanks for explaining it beautifully.
